Client Project Research
Jack Hickman
Audience 1-Costellos Bakery
My first option for the client project is the Costello's bakery situated in Pocklington, it is a small coffee/bakery shop where people go to eat, drink and
convene with each other. I decided on this establishment as my mother works there so it would be fairly easy to get an interview/get in touch with
them. The shop itself is quite small and does not seat a lot of people, even the area where food is ordered is quite small and certainly comes as an issue
when the place gets very busy. People of all ages tend to wander in to buy food as it is a bakery/coffee house which would probably make the age
range extremely diverse and flexible, from babies to the elderly therefore focusing on the age range probably wouldn’t get me very far. This wont
effect the overall design of the advert but, having a smaller age range would have helped design the mood of the advertisement a bit more but, this will
have to do for now until I can design the trailer. Considering the fact that it is a simple bakery, having the advertisement appeal more to either men or
women wouldn’t really be necessary so using a variety of colors and a broad tone and mood would also be better. The style would also have to be
neutral as well. The bakery uses a very ‘muddy’ color scheme as a lot of browns are used in the shops advertising and in the interior as well. This color
isn’t really used as a gender stereotype which makes it friendly for both genders. The socioeconomic status of individuals isn’t really much of a problem
as people of all classes are welcome in the shop though, the food is rather expensive so it may be more beneficial to people with a more wealthier
lifestyle. On paper, I would say the target audience of Costello’s would be in the abc1 category which is upper class to skilled working class. This
assumption is based off of the shop itself being a simple coffee shop and the prices of the food that is available for purchase. The geodemographic for
Costello’s bakery is Pocklington. It is the town the shop is located in which makes the geodemographic fairly standard. The town is fairly small as well
and the walk to the store from most of the residential areas is only 5 mins at least with the maximum of 10 when measured against an average walking
pace. This helps with determining which people to interview for the shop; people who live in Pocklington though it would be better to interview people
closer to the store. When it comes to the psychogrpahics
Analyse your audience. Use info from the client and any other resources you can to build a picture of them.
Consider age, gender, socioeconomic status, geodemographics, psychographics and mainstream/niche.
There are a whole range of resources such as NRS, Acorn, YouGov, your client and a host of psychographic profiles.
You can also consider some primary research in to your audience as well.
Change the title of this to ‘Client Research’
Include some images you have of their branding
Remember to delete the points below
