1. Story Synopsis
Intro
The story begins with an interview been conducted on Aaron Simons, also referred to as Aaron for short,
regarding an event that had transpired earlier in the year.
The theme of the event will notbe made clear until later on. The scene will take placein a room and be shot in
a medium shot angle with Aaron being positioned to the left of the camera and in focus. The background of
the interview will be a library thatwill mostlikely added in with green screen to avoid unnecessary disruption
from others. The angles that he is shotat may change occasionally to maintain the audience’s attention. These
other angles includea closeup of his face,a close-up from the sideof his faceand a medium shot. The
interviewer will not be shown in any of the shots.Aaron will narrateover a flashback.Theflashbacks made
usingsome stills and quick cuts between the shots to disorientatethe audience. The main flashback however,
will beshot as normal.
The interviewer and Aaron also have a general conversation on what Aaron does with his spare time, his
hobbies, dislikes etc.?
Build-up
The shot that establishes thescene will be a medium shot of the front door. The angleof the shot will be low
to present Aaron as a strong character when he entersthe house.
The shot will also zoomslightly on the door before Aaron opens the door, which is where the zooming will
stop. The shot and angle will change to a medium shotand centre camera angle respectively.
Aaron makes his way to the kitchen where he finds a note from his father-informing Aaron that he won’t be
home for dinner and to make do with what’s in the fridge.
This scene in particularwill beshot with the note in focus and Aaron walkinginto the room off focus. The shot
will stay the same until the note is picked up by Aaron where it changes to an over the shoulder shot with the
note still in focus.
The text on the note is fully visible and is left to the audience to read.
After this, itcuts back to present day where the interviewer asks Aaron what his relationship his father is like
to which Aaron tells the interviewer that the relationship is almost non-existent and shouldn’t even be
classified as one.
As Aaron begins to talk about his relationship with his father, the camera jumps back to the flashback with
the narration still goingon in the background. Aaron gives an annoyed look before scrunching the note up
and dropping it in the bin on his way over to the fridge where he grabs some food.
The camera will havea lowangle shot from the doorframe leadinginto the room to give the impression that
he is beingwatched. As he moves towards the bin,the camera will havethe bin in focus with Aaron moving
towards the fridge in the background.
The interview asks why his father neglects him for his work to which Aaron answers with the story of his
mother killing herself due to a sudden change in her psyche (will try and develop this further).
Aaron seems distraught and the interviewer asks if he wants to stop to which tom says that he wants to
continue after taking a deep breath to calm himself down. This will be done to suggest that the memory is
painful to him.
2. The interviewer then asks him what happened next, as Aaron begins speaking, the filmcuts back to the
flashback with Aaron making his way upstairs to his bedroom. Aaron narrates over the start of this scene
and gives some insight into one of his hobbies, gaming. The shot is setat a closeup angle though; the camera
position stays thesame as he makes his way upstairs only changingwhen he enters his room. There is a cut
from him walkingup the stairs to himentering his roombecause the extra clips of himmakinghis way to his
room would justmake the filmlonger for no reason.
Aaron drops his bag on the floor and proceeds to play video games. There is another cut in this scenewhere
he goes from droppinghis bag to sittingdown and playingvideo games which again,is used to cut down any
unnecessary parts of the film. This scene will usemedium shots from various angles with the firsthavingthe
camera positioned insideof the room as he enters and the shot where he sits down to also bea medium shot
but from a different angle. Facingthe sideof Aaron’s head. Before he turns the console on, he looks to the
left of the console to find a pencil game that was mentioned in the text.He chuckles under his breath before
moving the pencils and paper away.
After this he boots up his console but hears a loud banging noise and some laughter.
Climax
He turns to face the doorway, as the noise seemed to originate from downstairs. The camera places focus on
his faceas he stares at the doorway and calls for his father.
Upon hearing no reply, Aaron quickly makes his way downstairs to tryand find out where the noise came
from. The camera shots for this sequence will mostly be close-ups and some medium shots.
The filmcuts back to the present where the interviewer clarifies if there was any one in the house with him
to which Aaron answers by telling the interviewer that there was someone there just not in the way anyone
would expect with a troubled voice and a fear in his eyes.
Whilemaintainingthesame audio, the filmjumps back to the present where Aaron is calling for his dad and
tells him it’s not funny. He slowly makes his way to the balcony where he calls out again. Disgruntled and
clearly not happy with having to go and investigate the sounds, he makes his way downstairs to tryand
pinpoint its origin. The camera will be positioned from the ground, lookingup at Aaron as he looks around the
house, it’ll be presented from the pointof view of the entity.
As he makes his way downstairs, the camera will be focused on his feet, their weight on the stairs and a close
up of his eyes to followitup. Once he reaches the bottom of the stairs, he hears more noises from another
room. The voice sounds like its calling out his name. Aaron grows even more worried when he hears this and
opts to leave the house entirely after verbally announcing his resignation. The camera angles for when he
tries to escapeare medium and closeups shots. They wont have a lot of time in between them; each shot will
only stick around for a few brief moments.
When he reaches the door, he finds that the door is locked. He remembersthat he had not only locked the
door but he had left the key he normally uses upstairs. He turns to face the direction of his room and
expresses his dissatisfaction with having forgotten to take it though, he quickly realises that he can use the
spare key. This scene will also usevariouscloseups and medium shots to make the scene more visually
interesting and to keep the tension flowing.
As Aaron reaches in for the spare key, he blacks out momentarily and wakes up in another part of the
house. The cut will be shown with an extreme closeup of his eye when it blinks followed by a POV shot of the
new room to show the audiencethat the perspective of the protagonisthas changed. This scene will usea lot
of closeups on various items around the room before an extreme closeup of his eyes will beshown again.
After this, the voice of the interviewer can be heard asking Aaron if this is where he saw it. Aaron doesn’t
respond to this and the flashback continues.
A strange, ominous sound can be heard throughout the house, growing in intensity before enveloping
Aaron. The sound becomes so loud that Aaron drops to his knees and desperately requests the voice to
3. stop. This scene itself will lastmorethan 5 seconds to placeemphasis on some of his sufferingin this scene
(more dramatic than what itsounds here). Various shots of the house will also beshown as the noisebecomes
louder.
A Strange laughter can be heard before an ominous voice tells Tom that he has no obligation to order him to
do anything. The scene grows quiet and no audio can be heard. A closeup of tom satin disbelief will be
presented.
Tom questions the voice though he stumbles in his words from shock and the entitymocks him with a laugh
that could drive a man insane. The entity will havemultipleactors at the same time, with some adding
background context. All of them laugh in this scene. Most of the focus from the camera will beon Aaron
though; some Dutch tilts will also beadded to disorientatethe viewer.
The voices all seem to combine into one grouchy voice that proceeds to mock him for cowardice before
labelling him as worthless and weak. Its worth mention that these scenes and the scenes proceeding it will be
shot with various trackingshots,Dutch angles and closeups to keep the conversation between the two of
them visually interestingto the audience.
Aaron calls for some of his mates and tells them that the prank isn’t funny. The entity becomes angered and
growls at him before questioning if Aaron had only made that comment because he wants to uphold his
atheistic values or if he is so paranoid of the ones he calls his friends that he thinks they would do this to
him. The shot in this particular sceneuses a Dutch tiltand a longshot, high angle?
The Entity says Aarons full name and goes over the biblical significance of them. He calls him the exalted
which references his first name and denier of truths for his second. He begins to discuss his pride and how
he thinks too highly of himself and then compared him to the apostle Peter. He then asks how many times
he denounced God and jokingly mentions if it was the lucky 3. The voice then asks if Aarons faith died with
his mother and if he felt betrayed by not only God, but his mother as well. This scene will havemultipleshots
of Aarons face with some Dutch tilts and some low angles.A longwith a few closeups and medium shots. The
focus will also changesporadically.
A brief scene of a woman hanging can be seen with what sounds like a child wailing. The shot will be a long
shot. Aaron is shocked by this before asking the entity how it knew though he is unable to finish the
sentence out of pure horror. The entity dodges the question entirely before mentioning how beautiful she
was up until that night. It comments on how disgusting and ugly she was and asks if Aaron thought so to.
Rather than allowing the disturbed Aaron to answer the question himself he answers it for him and states
that he felt the same too. More of the same shots
Resolution
Aaron who is too horrified to even move or say anything, justsits there gaspingfor air.The entity then
wonders why His father won’t approve of him either. This comment seems to anger Aaron; rousinghis
courage. Aaron tells himto stop talkingand begins recitinglines from the bibleand orders the demon to tell
him its name.
The spiritlaughs again and tells Aaron that the lords power doesn’t come from anger or spiteand informs him
that he is one of the lastpeople the lord will help becausehe lacks the required virtueand is nothingbut a
sinner.Aaron screams that the demon tells himhis name. The entity calls outhis titles in dramatic fashion
before finally TellingAaron that his name is Baphomet.
