1. Development Diary – FMP Film – Week Five Part Two
Production Reflection Part One
I finished the filming last weekend and this week I started editing the film. I
used the softwarecalled Premiere, I watched all my footage and I selected the
best scenes to use for the project. I was shocked with my shots becausesome
scenes were filmed at an angle, the camera was titled. My tutor asked me to
do the filming again but I disagreed because I don’twant to be stressed
because I havenot got enough time to edit it in three weeks. I am happy with
some shots becausethey are perfect and clear. However, one problem is the
actors, becausethey weren’t following the lines and made up someof their
lines. In the editing, I created the subtitles and I mustfollow what the actors
said, so the subtitles are slightly different from the original script.
I created the subtitles and I decided to put different colours for each of the
characters so that the audience know who is talking. I had orange, pink, purple
and blue. The first colours I used on the subtitles weren’tgood because when
the subtitles were on the screen it was difficult to read becausethe
background was brighter than the subtitles. I went back to the subtitles to edit
them, I wanted to put the white glow on it because it can make them clearer to
read. Now I am continuing to add the subtitles and they look amazing and
colourful. I mustbe carefulwhen I am editing the subtitles because I wantto
make sureI use the same colour and font. If I don’tthen they will look messy
and not professional.
Before the subtitles, I finished editing my footage and its a total 7 minutes
shortfilm. I showed my tutor and he watched my film and I received some
feedback. My beginning credits were so slow because I lit each of the 13
candles “Happy Birthday” and it looked like it was from an old film that had
long credits at the beginning, now films always haveshortintroductions and
long credits at the end. I will edit and shorten my credits and I will add the
longer credits at the end.
Also, in the opening scene where the teenagers arein a group chatting was a
long scene. I will chop and remove somescenes so they are better and quicker
scenes. I mustcreate my film to be a maximum of 5 minutes because I must
follow to my tutor’s decision. Also my credits were not looking professional
because my kitchen knife that I used to stab the cake won’tstay upright. I need
2. to put toothpick in the cake and behind the knife to stop it from falling over. I
also need to add the blood on the cake and cover the knife to make it look
terrifying. I decided to film the cakeagain because I wantmy credits to look
professionaland that is easy and quick to film.
