2. I have improved so much since my
preliminary task in that I am now able to
explore different shots and how I have
been able to use them to create a scary
effect. I used a follow shot which I didn’t
use in the preliminary task and this was
very effective as the audience will feel
uncomfortable following the killer.
3. My editing has also come along a lot more
as I have explored a range of different
techniques such as colour correction and
adding a tint to make a shot a lot darker
than I had originally filmed it to be. I have
also been able to use my footage in a
certain order to tell a story in the opening
credits. The dark shots and the reflections
on the blood have created a dark
atmosphere and because I have been
able to colour correct some of the shots so
that they match the darker shots that I
filmed and this has been really effective.
4. My time management has been much better and I
have been able to schedule days that I will film on
and I set myself a task every time I would go and film
just to make sure that I would get the perfect shot.
This was so important when it came to filming the fire
in the woods because I had to practice this shot so
many times to get it right. Eventually it came out
really well but without the practice and knowing that
I needed to practice I wouldn’t have got the shot to
look as effective as it was. I also filmed some of my
shots while I was away on a trip with the school so I
had to arrange time to film these shots. For example, I
filmed the extreme long shot of the forest and the fire
while I was away but in comparison to my preliminary
task, I used a range of different locations.
5. I didn’t use any music in my preliminary task
due to the focus on what was said
between the two characters but the
opening credits of Target use music
throughout but don’t use any dialogue. This
is because I didn’t want to ruin the effect of
the killer’s silence while he prepared
himself. However, I have come to
understand that music plays an important
part in creating a film because it can give
away important information like how the
protagonist is feeling or where / when it is
set.
6. Rating plays an important part when it
comes to target audience and over the
course of the year I have learnt about
rating and what can be shown to make
the film a certain certificate of rating.
Target is a 15 and this is because of the
weapons that are shown but Certain
Proposals is a PG because there are no
scenes of violence / harsh language
/sexual content.
