Promotional campaign on a
musical artist
Contextual Research
Faith Fomekong
Jora Frantzis
Frantzis is a Photographer, director and writer based in Studio
City in Los Angeles
I couldn’t really find much personal information about her,
however her past work says it all. She has this undeniable love
for pastel colours and bold makeup, as well as futuristic settings
which are definitely elements to be inspired by.
She has worked with multiple celebrities including Cardi B,
Sanaa Lathan, Rosalia and Sam Smith as she is mainly known
for Shooting and Providing Art Direction For Cardi's Invasion of
Privacy Album Cover as well as directing 5 different music
video’s.
although I will not be able to create such advanced photo’s, her
level of creativity is certainly something I will be looking up to.
Sakis Graphics
Sakis is a Graphic designer who produces promotional Arts,
Artworks, Visual Arts and more.
His portfolio is full of unique, bold and fascinating artworks which is
definitely an inspiration for my promotional poster. As shown on his
posters, from a basic celebrity image to amazing visuals, Sakis uses
Photoshop to create art that results in looking almost dreamlike and
dynamic.
Dan Lucey
Dan is currently Executive Creative Director and equity partner at JOAN. He
manages the creative output for Georgia Pacific, Virgin Hotels, General Mills'
Fiber One, Facebook, Walmart, Graduate Hotels, SafeAuto, Hive, Burst and
Potential Energy.
The main reason for using Lucey as an inspiration is because of his admirable
mindset. He believes that the most dangerous thing a brand can do is be
boring. He explains that “Boring gets ignored, boring gets skipped, boring
wastes media dollars. The best work connects with an audience in a
meaningful way, playing off a cultural truth or tension. The best work reaches
an audience through earned media, not just paid.” With this mindset he was
able to earn multiple gold awards at The One Show, Cannes, Clios, D&AD, The
Andy's, AICP, LIA and the Art Directors Club as well as having the greatest
turnaround in the brand’s history on his most recent campaign for General
MIlls.
Bozoma Saint John
Bozoma Saint John is an American businesswoman and
marketing executive who is the chief marketing officer at
Netflix.
Throughout her career, she has always been all about
uplifting black woman as she decided to boost Uber’s image
by becoming a Chief Brand Officer. This represented “black
women doing big things in the tech industry” as she was kept
front and centre.
As black girl myself, seeing how successful Bomoza has
become and her being on a similar career path to what I
would like to be is making her without doubt an admirable
and inspirational woman.
Branding of musical Artists
• I believe that branding is an important topic for me to look into as my aim is to produce
something unique that will identify my work from others.
• Branding is a powerful marketing tool for musicians as it is anything that defines or
represents them. It can potentially play more of a role in a musician’s success than the
music they create.
• There are unique points that help people identify them from others in the trade; like a
name, symbol, caption or attribute.
• I won’t be going in-depth on this topic however, I will be elaborating on this in my
production research

  • 1. FINAL MAJOR PROJECT: Promotional campaign on a musical artist Contextual Research Faith Fomekong
  • 2. Jora Frantzis Frantzis is a Photographer, director and writer based in Studio City in Los Angeles I couldn’t really find much personal information about her, however her past work says it all. She has this undeniable love for pastel colours and bold makeup, as well as futuristic settings which are definitely elements to be inspired by. She has worked with multiple celebrities including Cardi B, Sanaa Lathan, Rosalia and Sam Smith as she is mainly known for Shooting and Providing Art Direction For Cardi's Invasion of Privacy Album Cover as well as directing 5 different music video’s. although I will not be able to create such advanced photo’s, her level of creativity is certainly something I will be looking up to.
  • 3. Sakis Graphics Sakis is a Graphic designer who produces promotional Arts, Artworks, Visual Arts and more. His portfolio is full of unique, bold and fascinating artworks which is definitely an inspiration for my promotional poster. As shown on his posters, from a basic celebrity image to amazing visuals, Sakis uses Photoshop to create art that results in looking almost dreamlike and dynamic.
  • 4. Dan Lucey Dan is currently Executive Creative Director and equity partner at JOAN. He manages the creative output for Georgia Pacific, Virgin Hotels, General Mills' Fiber One, Facebook, Walmart, Graduate Hotels, SafeAuto, Hive, Burst and Potential Energy. The main reason for using Lucey as an inspiration is because of his admirable mindset. He believes that the most dangerous thing a brand can do is be boring. He explains that “Boring gets ignored, boring gets skipped, boring wastes media dollars. The best work connects with an audience in a meaningful way, playing off a cultural truth or tension. The best work reaches an audience through earned media, not just paid.” With this mindset he was able to earn multiple gold awards at The One Show, Cannes, Clios, D&AD, The Andy's, AICP, LIA and the Art Directors Club as well as having the greatest turnaround in the brand’s history on his most recent campaign for General MIlls.
  • 5. Bozoma Saint John Bozoma Saint John is an American businesswoman and marketing executive who is the chief marketing officer at Netflix. Throughout her career, she has always been all about uplifting black woman as she decided to boost Uber’s image by becoming a Chief Brand Officer. This represented “black women doing big things in the tech industry” as she was kept front and centre. As black girl myself, seeing how successful Bomoza has become and her being on a similar career path to what I would like to be is making her without doubt an admirable and inspirational woman.
  • 6. Branding of musical Artists • I believe that branding is an important topic for me to look into as my aim is to produce something unique that will identify my work from others. • Branding is a powerful marketing tool for musicians as it is anything that defines or represents them. It can potentially play more of a role in a musician’s success than the music they create. • There are unique points that help people identify them from others in the trade; like a name, symbol, caption or attribute. • I won’t be going in-depth on this topic however, I will be elaborating on this in my production research
