The document discusses pre-production details for a documentary, including color scheme, fonts, animated character, images, audio, and production schedule. Blue and white will be the main colors, with purple and yellow used occasionally. The second font listed is the preferred option for readability. The animated character will match the documentarian's features and wear dark colors. Images will come from Google Images. Audio will be recorded remotely by a friend and edited in Adobe Audition. The production schedule allocates one week for script delivery and character creation, then two weeks each for editing and completion.
2. Colour scheme
Blue and white are going to be the
main colours that will be seen all
throughout my documentary. Blue
being the colour of my background
and white the colour of the words.
This purple colour will be the colour of
my character’s shirt. I am also thinking
of changing the blue background of the
scene that talks about different kid
rhymes to this purple colour or a
lighter purple as it somewhat matches
with the topic I will be talking about
This colour will not be used
often. I am thinking of using
this yellow colour whenever I
am stating/listing facts.
3. Fonts
I was first thinking of using this first font
“JustAnotherHand”. The letters look thick enough to be
used throughout my documentary and is readable.
However, the problem is that I am looking for a font that will
be used to explain important facts/words so I want to make
sure that I pick one that is easily readable and fully reliable.
This is why I decided to pick the second or third font. The
second one is my main choice as it is pretty simple and the
letters are naturally spacious making it a lot easier to read.
If I chose this “Bangers” font I am thinking
of using it to write a person’s name or to
write the title of a new topic as it is the
boldest font out of the three and will easily
stand out
4. Animated Character
The AniMaker website lets us create our own character
so I decided to create someone with similar features to
me. This will give the impression that I am the one
talking.
For the outfit colour I will be going for pretty dark
colours to match the colour scheme of my documentary.
The main reason why I am not planning on making my
character stand out is because I want the audience to
focus more on the words that will be in white, being the
colour to stand out the most.
I am thinking of
using this colour for
the hoodie of my
character
5. • In my documentary I will be to using images to make
the music topic easier to understand
• On the website they have an “Image” section where you
can find a lot of images that could be used in your video.
However, most of those images are not what I am
looking for as they don’t have kid related images or
country flags. Therefore, I will be getting most of not all
my images from google image .
I will be using this google image when I’m
referring to British music
Ill be using this image
as an example of
nursery rhymes
Images
6. Audio
• My audio will be recorded by my friend Andong. She loves to talk and is really
good at reading out speeches and presentations. This is why I asked her to
help. However, due to the fact that she lives in Belgium, I wont be able to
physically be with her to do it together so I will be sending it through email.
• I will be sending her the script on the first week of production as I asked how
long it would take for her to finish the audio and she said that she could get it
done within couple of days ( 3-5 days).
• I will be editing my audio in college on Adobe Audition as I
don’t have the software needed to do it at home
7. Sequence planning
Scene number Description
1-4 This will be the introduction part of my
documentary
5
This will be one of the longest scenes as I will be
talking about a scientific fact
6-7
During these scenes I will be asking a rhetorical
question. Since the question is to long to write
down, I decided to use the “Thinking” animation on
my character only adding important words towards
the end of the second scene.
8-13 In these scenes I will just be using animations and
google images to make the topic easier to
understand.
14 This is the only scene where I am considering using
purple or light pink as a background as it talks
about examples of nursery rhymes and kids songs.
8. Sequence planning
Scene number Description
15-17 In these three scenes I will be explaining what the
negative impacts are of music
18-20
At this point I will be explaining why Craig Pinkey
disagrees with the statement I stated in the three
previous scene
21-23
These are the ending scenes. In these scenes I will be
advising my audience to listen to music whenever
they’re having a bad day while ending my
documentary on a positive note by saying
“Listening to music will definitely put a smile on
your face” hopefully leaving the audience satisfied
with my video.
9. Production Schedule
Week 1: On the first week I will be sending my script to Andong then I will be
creating my character. This takes at least one day to get done so after that I will
directly be getting started with editing the introduction part of my documentary.
Week 2 : If my friend manage to get the audio done by this week , I will be
editing it on Audition then I will add it to my documentary with the
background music. Once I have done that I will simply continue editing
Week 3 and 4 : These two weeks I will be focusing on finishing off my documentary
Editor's Notes
Context affects what is produced, how it is produced and who can produce it.
Technology is part of the context. Early fanzines were hand made because there was no InDesign or Photoshop. Web-series simply didn’t existing because the web didn’t exist.
People who don’t have access to jobs in mainstream media, to become journalists or editors, might produce work independently of that system.
People who don’t see themselves or their interests being represented in main stream media, might produce something that represents them or their social group.
The political situation will influence what someone decides to make. The cultural situation will influence what people make.
Every media text is a product of its environment, just like people.
Style: The way in which something is said, done, expressed, or performed. The combination of distinctive features of literary or artistic expression, execution, or performance
characterizing a particular person, group, school, or era.
For example, a podcast could be two people talking, it could be interviews and a voice over, it could just be a recording of a teaching session… how it is done, is the style.
Techniques:
How are these things being made? What methods are being used? Find out and also use your own experience. For example, is a fanzine being hand written or word processed? How do people making a web series set up their shooting spaces? The more you can find out about technique, the more you can get ideas for your own work.
Content:
The material, including text and images, that constitutes a publication or document.
What is actually in this product? Break it down. Is it interviews, monologues, reviews, instructions… Identify the different types of content in the items you research, to help your own ideas.
