WOMEN SHOULD WEAR LITTLE CLOTHING, LOTS OF MAKE UP AND JEWELLERYSO INSTEAD I CHOSE TO
DRESS MY MODEL IN A HOODY AND LITTLE MAKE UP, AS NATURAL AS POSSIBLE. DUE TO THE MODEL
WEARING A HOODING YOU CAN STILL INFER THAT IS IT R&B RELATED. ASFOR MY MALE MODEL HE WAS
ALSO DRESSED IN A HOODY AND JEANS BUT WITH NO CHAINS OR TATTOOSTHIS IS TO SET A GOOD
EXAMPLE FOR THE YOUNG ADULTS, ADULTS TO BE OF THIS WORLD
LIFESTYLE
• THE MESSAGE THAT R&B MAGAZINES USUALLY PORTRAY ABOUT LIFESTYLE IS THAT IS IT IS LUXURIOUS,
THE RICH LIFE. THAT IT IS ALL ABOUT BOYS/GIRLS, MONEY AND PARTIES.
• BUT IN ACTUAL FACT IT’S NOT. WE ALL START OFF SOMEWHERE. MY MAGAZINE STARTS FROM THE
BEGINNING. IT DOES NOT MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT GIRLS/BOYS, MONEYAND PARTIES DUE THE FACT
THAT MY TARGET AUDIENCE IS FROM 16 YEAR OLDS. MY MAGAZINE SOLELYFOCUSES ON MUSIC, THE
LATEST GOSSIP, AND CONCERTS.

• MUSIC HAS NO GENDER. IT IS FOR ANYONE AND EVERYONE. ALTHOUGH SOME R&B MAGAZINES PORTRAY WOMAN AS
OBJECTS AND THAT MEN ARE STILL SUPERIOR TO WOMEN. WE SEE IT INTODAYS SOCIETY IN MANY R&B MUSIC VIDEOS.
WHERE THE MEN ARE PREDOMINANTLY THE CENTRE OF ATTRACTION WITH THE CAMERA SHOWING MORE OF THE MALE.
WITH THE FEMALE IT IS MOSTLY CLOSE UPS OF BODILY FEATURES AND THE FACE WHICH STILL SHOWS THAT THEY ARE SEEN
AS OBJECTS RATHER THAN PEOPLE. IN ADDITION MOST OF R&B’S SONGS ARE ABOUT SEX, MONEY AND GIRLS WHICH ALSO
SHOWS THAT MEN ARE POWERFUL AND CONTROLLING.
• IN MY MAGAZINE I HAVE MORE IMAGES OF WOMEN. ONE ON THE FRONT COVER LOOKING INNOCENT AND ANOTHER ON MY
CONTENTS PAGE LOOKING DOWN WHICH REFLECTS THER&B GENDER STEREOTYPE. BUT I THEN HAVE A MALE MODEL ON MY
DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD LOOKING POWERFUL WITH HIS FISTS CLENCHED BUTHIS HEAD IS DOWN SO YOU COULD SAY THAT IT
SORT OF BALANCES THINGS OUT. SO MY MAGAZINE PORTRAYS THAT MEN AND WOMEN ARE EQUAL.
