2. Age
The main age
group which took
part in the survey
are 16 to 18
years old. So my
following analysis
is focused on this
audience.
3. Residence
The most common
answers about the
living place were
North-East and North.
This means that my
magazine will be
focused on an
audience from The
North and North-East
of the UK.
5. Music Events
This question shows that
the most 16 to 18 year
olds like to participate in
concerts and music
festivals. This means that
those two are going to be
subjects in my music
magazine. Some people
gave for a reason why they
like to go to these events
“I enjoy the atmosphere”
or “I like to see live events
of bands or singers I
enjoy”.
6. Music Magazines
My research showed
me that especially late
teenagers do not tend
to buy music
magazines. This means
I have to find out the
reasons for this and
what will attract them
to buy a music
magazine. I also try to
get some ideas from
the ones which are
bought the most
including NME, Q and
Kerrang!
7. Music Magazine Content
The questionnaire showed
me the most important
contents I have to focus
on. This means
interviews, articles about
current music events and
advertisement for those.
This question also
suggests that my target
audience likes to read
about a big variety of
different artists with a few
specialisations.
8. Music Genres
The music genre I am
going to focus on is
rock music. But to
attract a wide
audience and related
to the fact that the
most questioned
people want to see a
variety of artists I will
also include Pop- and
Chart-Music as well
as R ‘n’ B and Metal.
9. Role of Music
The most people
use music for
entertainment and
to is escape their
environment. This
means that the
main function of my
music magazine is
entertainment.
10. Purchase of Music Magazines
Like another question
had shown before,
the most students do
not buy music
magazines at least
not regularly. This
again means that I
have to find out how
to attract teenagers
and gain their
interest in music
magazines.
11. Spending
This diagram shows
that the most people
are willing to pay
between £1.30 and
£3.50. As the magazine
is for teenagers who
usually do not earn a
lot of money and do
not care that much
about an official and
formal appearance,
these prices fit
perfectly with the
image of my magazine.
12. Result
The magazine I am going to create will be target on
a young audience at the age of 15 to 25. It will be
orientated to students who like to socialise and
participate in music venues like festivals, concerts
and clubs. This means the contents have to cover
these subjects as well as interviews with various
artists and articles about the latest events and
sensations in the music scene. My music magazine
will focus on the rock music genre but will also
cover Pop-Music, Chart-Music, R ‘n’ B and Metal;
inspired by the most attractive music magazines
which result from the survey (NME, Q, Kerrang!).
