Reach Alternative Music Fans Ages 16-25
1. WHO WOULD BE YOUR
AUDIENCE FOR YOUR
MEDIA PRODUCT?
2. Who would
be your
target
audience?
My target audience is 16-25 year olds (both men
and women) who enjoy to be different with their
style and taste of music. These are people who
enjoy searching for new artists and bands that
they can sink their teeth into. The types of
people that will be attracted to my magazine are
the open minded people who are interested in the
alternative style of dress and music. My target
audience is aimed at both women and men as there
is no gender due to the simple fact that my
magazine has no gender references and is aimed at
both genders. These people are often seen getting
involved with events and their lives evolve
heavily around listening to a lot of music. Bands
that they may enjoy would be Catfish and the
Bottlemen, The Fray, The Amazons and the 1975.
I believe that this selection of people would
enjoy my magazine due to the fact that my magazine
includes the latest alternative artists,
information about upcoming events and the latest
interviews with new artists-to allow them to
develop an insight into what the artists are like.
3. Why did
you decide
to chose
this
target
market?
I decided to chose this as my target market
because I believe that from the ages of 16-
25 many people want to discover new
alternative music. Also after doing a
survey from people aged 16-25 many people
agreed that they would pay £2.99 for my
magazine as it is exactly what they’d want
in an alternative music magazine. The age
bracket I have chosen also lets me target
their my audience specifically allowing me
to use artists that many people have
requested or want to know more about. Also
it is my opinion that my magazine will be
brought equally by men as it will by women
this is due to what my magazine features-
and also due to the fact that it is not
aimed at a specific gender.

5. How much are you willing to pay for a
magazine?
I would be willing to pay around £3 for a magazine
I think. I think anymore than £3 might be a little
too much for my liking. I understand that other
magazines like Clash magazine are more expensive
but they have more of a variety.
What layouts/ colour schemes interest you
most?
I really like a simple layout, especially one that’s
easy to follow and get information from easy.
Simple colour schemes too, like black and white or
grey and white- you can’t go wrong with that.
What would you like a magazine to feature?
New artists. I really feel like they don’t have the
chance to express themselves as often as they
could.
What interests you in the magazines you
selected earlier?
I love how they are all so different to each other
and the way their layouts are so unique, they all
seemed to have really grasped what their audience
want to see in their magazine.
Here is an extract from the short interview I
participated in with Zara Crofts.

in. Evidence from this short interview shows that they
would be interested about buying my magazine.
7. How much are you willing to pay for a
magazine?
Probably around £3 to £4, it depends what's in the
magazine I guess and if it really intrigues me.
What layouts/ colour schemes interest you
most?
I love colour contrasting colour schemes-the ones
that have one colour that almost compliments the
other. I believe it can change your view on a
magazine if its accompanied by a simple and not
overcomplicated layout.
What would you like a magazine to feature?
I’d want a magazine to feature upcoming concerts
that I can go to with my friends, especially ones for
new artists.
What interests you in the magazines you
selected earlier?
I find it really interesting how ‘Q’ presents its
magazine. In a way I almost find it refreshing
because you know they’re all different even though
they have most of the same features.
