3. Standardize Corporate Lingo
How you communicate matters. Replace words
such as "employee " with "team member;" go
through the process of reviewing all corporate
lingo and standardize terms that foster a
collaborative environment. Be sensitive to
cultural differences and stay away from slang
not easily understood.... "for f**k's sake is an
exceptional to rule.
5. MEETING
AGENDAS
Send a meeting agenda 24
hours in advance so those who
need time to process
information before speaking in
meetings are prepared to do so.
6. CATERING MEALS
Be mindful of dietary restrictions
when catering food for corporate
events: think kosher, vegan,
gluten free and be particularly
mindful of cross-contamination.
7. Be mindful of timezones and
international holidays when
planning conference calls and all
hands meetings.
Never ever have a meeting with
colleagues across the pond in a
conference room without
windows; natural sunlight is a
big deal for those accimlating to
current timezone
8. All Hands Meeting Speakers
Get outside your industry when bringing
speakers in and really think about who,
what, why and how will this speaker briing
your goals to life. One of the most
influential speakers I ever watched was
Captain Michael Abrashoff, author of "It's
Your Ship". He offered an usual twist on
change management; ,reinforced that
good ideas can come from anywhere. He
single handedly changed my perception of
the military and how many lessons we can
learn in corporate from our veterans when
it comes to embracing change.
9. Expand your Global Footprint
Expand your organization's
global footprint with corporate
colored sneakers to get your
team mates moving! I am a
running shoe junkie and can
never have enough sneakers!
