This document describes the design and simulation of a triple band notched reconfigurable microstrip antenna for ultra-wideband applications. The antenna is designed to notch the WIMAX (2.6-3.1 GHz), WIFI (5.0-5.6 GHz) and C band (7.4-8.6 GHz) frequencies by etching different shaped slots on the radiating patch and ground plane. Three MEMS switches are used to reconfigure the antenna response. Simulation results show that the antenna achieves the desired band notching characteristics while maintaining ultra-wideband performance for other frequencies. Radiation patterns and surface currents are also analyzed to validate the antenna design.
