Heather enjoyed assignments that provided useful information about student loans, careers, and campus resources. Her favorite journal entries helped her evaluate her daily structure, support system, and goals. The first week of class motivated her through readings and videos. Lessons she will carry forward include maintaining a positive mindset, creating a support system, and improving study strategies.
2. MY THREE FAVORITE
ASSIGNMENTS
1. The financial avenue assignments was one of my favorite because
it provided me with important information regarding student loan
debt. It also gave insightful information into credit card debt and
loan repayment. I think this is useful information for not only college
students but adults in general.
2. The My next move assignment where we learned our Holland score
was also a very helpful assignment. It reaffirmed to me that I have
chosen a suitable career path. It also helped me explore more
aspects of that career and what a future salary might look like.
3. The scavenger hunt was also a very helpful exercise, even though I
have attended Grayson in the past there were many resources that I
didn’t even know existed. For example I did not there was a math
center where we could reach out for help on specific math problems.
I also didn’t realize you could submit a paper to have it evaluated.
The writing center proved very helpful in my philosophy class.
3. MY FAVORITE JOURNAL ENTRIES
1. I enjoyed journal entry 13 where I evaluated the degree in which I
am acting with purpose. It helped me realize how little structure I
have to my day. It also helped me adjust my schedule to better tackle
schoolwork assignments and ensure I am spending meaningful time
with my kids.
2. I also enjoyed journal entry 17 where we looked at our support
system. I believe having a strong support system can be integral to
your success in life. It was a great reminder to reach out to my
mother in law for help with the kids so I can dedicate more time to
schoolwork.
3. I do think that journal entry 11 was my favorite. Not only do I
enjoy writing in this way but it was also nice to imagine my goals
coming true. I think that made my goals seem more tangible and
attainable to me.
4. My favorite week was the first
week of class. I think it got me
thinking about being purposeful in
my thinking and attitude towards
school and helped me have a more
successful semester. I enjoyed the
reading and introduction to the
textbook as well as the
motivational videos provided.
5. LESSONS I WILL CARRY WITH ME
1. The lesson of changing my inner dialogue in
order to have a more positive mindset and take
responsibility for my own future.
2. The importance of creating a support system
and asking for help when I need it.
3. Being intentional in how I study for exams
and trying to be a better learner.
