Audience feedback
1.
2. ‘DO YOU LIKE THE NARRATIVE?’
Yes – 87.5%
No – 12.5%
From this I have ensured that I do have an audience
who likes the narrative. This implies that the majority
of people in general would be interested in seeing my
short film.
3. ‘WOULD THIS BE A BETTER AS A SHORT FILM
OR A FEATURE FILM.’
Feature film – 68.75%
Short film – 31.25%
From this it is clear that people would prefer the
narrative to be seen in a feature film such as the
shining for instance, rather than a short film.
4. ‘DO YOU THINK THAT THE FILM IS TRYING TO
ADDRESS CERTAIN ISSUES?’
Yes – 75%
No – 25%
It is clear that people understand that there is a deep
realist message behind the narrative and the film
that I will be making on it. When asked, no one had
heard about John Hatley’s theory (1987) that
institutions are obliged to speak to audiences about
audiences.
5. ‘WOULD YOU AGREE THAT THIS NARRATIVE IS
OPEN TO INTERPRETATION?’
Yes – 93.75%
No – 6.25%
This shows that the audience had different opinions
about what the narrative was down to, as well as
the message as to why the film is made and what it
is trying to say. When asked nobody knew about
the pluralist model and the active audience theory,
that describes the concept of audiences having an
active role in thinking about films
