1. Research and Planning
By researching genre, I learnt what codes and conventions are relevant to which genre and what we
needed to include in our Thriller opening. Not only this, researching lots of different sub genre’s we
were able to decide which one would be best suited to us as a group, in the end we chose to do a
political thriller.
Before the filming process began we decided to do a questionnaire to see which genre’s our target
audience would like to see. However, we decided to do something a bit more original so we didn’t fall
down the cliché route.
Research into institutions allowed me to understand genre and that different production companies
produce certain films. I looked at Touchstone Pictures which produced a film with a simliar genre to
ours ‘Enemy of the State’ and also Universal Studio’s which produced ‘Spy Game’.
When planning for our Thriller opening we had to be very organised and assign roles in order to
complete it in time. By being organised it helped when it came to the filming stage because we were
able to just get on with it. In order for me to improve in A2 I think I just need to be even more
organised and keep to a time schedule to have the task completed on time.
