The student learned many new skills when progressing from their preliminary task to creating a full music magazine product. They became proficient in using Photoshop to edit pictures by changing colors, rotating, and resizing images. They also learned how to use InDesign, which was crucial for laying out the magazine, allowing them to add images, change fonts, and apply effects. Overall, the student improved their ability to include conventions like edited pictures, pull quotes, and drop shadows to make the final magazine more polished and professional compared to their initial task.

Question 7 for media evaluation
1. Question 7: Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the product?
I think I have come very far from when I first started my preliminary task I did not know very well how to use the different applications on the Mac and wasn’t familiar with working a Mac only had little knowledge on it. In the progression to the full product I have learnt to use a lot of different programmes I now know how to edit pictures in Photoshop by changing the colour, rotating them or resizing the picture. I have also learnt how to use in design which was crucial to create my magazine as that was the program we had to use. I learnt how to add images, change the fonts, and use the different colour swatches and how to use the drop shadow and various effects to make the font and pictures look more realistic. I have learnt some good techniques to use in magazines like editing the pictures and rotating them to make my magazine look more real this is a real improvement from my preliminary task where the pictures weren’t edited I just put them into the front cover of the student magazine.
The improvements I can see in my music magazine is you can see I have put in a lot more time and effort into my music magazine because I have tried to include every aspect to attract my audience and include all the conventions of a music magazine. I have used pugs/pulls to attract my audience to pick up the magazine. Also I have used drop shadows around the font to make it stand out I have not used this convention in my student magazine because I didn’t know how to do it. I think in my preliminary task I was exploring how to do things on in design and was doing the very basic effects and trying to learn more so I could use this in my music magazine. Also while taking the pictures of the people I posed them as how they would look if it was a real magazine and dressed them to look the part in contrast to my student magazine where I just took the picture of the person making sure I had enough room around the picture for my masthead and cover lines.
I was able to make choices a lot easier with my music magazine as I had more knowledge of the programmes from creating my student magazine and started to become more creative with my work and when I was uploading it to blogger I learnt how to upload presentations and word documents via slide share and using the embedding code. Also I learnt how to upload images onto blogger which made the process a lot easier.
