2. I plan on taking my photographs in the music
studio at college, this is because it is the ideal place
due to the equipment been there and we could
stage things better.
The music studios are very plain and boring so they
won’t really look like stage photos or band pictures
that you would typically find in a magazine.
However I think this will work better as I will be able
to change the lighting situation, and really allow
myself to change around the room to how I want it
to look. It will just be a lot easier if I do it in the
music studio and just edit the photos to how I
want the style to look then this will work more
ideally.
3. For the costumes for this shoot need to be very
causal and fit the vibes of an alternative style
band. I don’t need costumes as sort as I don’t
think it is required for general band gear. It is a
very casual and laid back magazine so the
clothing needs to show this causal and easy
vibe. Things like jeans, t-shirts, plaid shirts-
anything general and a little bit wavy. Wavy
garms.
4. As for props I want to use general music props,
such as guitars and drums. This will be better in
the music studio as there will be more access to
these props and the people I’m photographing
will already have these on hand. The props
again need to be like the clothing, something
that bands would causally use.
5. For the equipment I will need a camera which I have with my
18-55mm VR ll
This lens will be good for this kind of a photography as you
will be able to get some good close up shots that are well
balanced whilst also having a powerful lens that will be able
to take photographs from a long distance still capturing the
action. I find that this lens will be the best for this project and
style of photography.
Because of the location of the shoot I will be able to work and
edit with the lighting so that won’t matter , the rooms are
well lit anyway, there is also things like fans in the room so
these will be good to add some movement into the
photographs. I think that there will be enough in the location
for me to just take my camera, other lens and tripod (just in
case and for camera rest)
6. The photo for the front cover needs to be a medium close up on a
straight angle. This allows the reader to get a personal but straight up
style shot of the artist. The medium shot needs to have a good use of
personality involved in it but also needs to fit the theme and style of the
magazine. This also means that the photo can be the main focus as the
splash photo.
If I have any feature photos on the front cover I want these to be more
small and less noticeable to I will probably take longer shots and be
more distant to get their whole body in the shot, this again will involve
the personality and mood of the band.

7. The photo for the contents page needs to be a action shot, or a photo that has a lot
of personality to it. The picture might end up being a concert photo as they are a
totally different style and add most vibes and atmosphere. I don’t really mind of the
angles on the band pictures as it would just add more atmosphere to the picture. The
good thing about these photos is it has a lot of different emotions and expressions
and the pictures end up creating exhilarating moods on the audience.
The photos on the contents page are going to represent the more fun and societies
involvement in the music industry so that the reader really feels more connected and
involved in music and the magazine.
These photos should be more fun, they should represent colourful and brightness to
show the fun and exciting aspects of music and the laid back style of the magazine.

8. I want the double page spread pictures to be full of individuality and
character, I really want the double page spread to be able to reflect the
band, their style and their individual personalities.
This photo also is going to have to fit with the magazine style which I
will do when editing it.
This photo is going to go over two pages so needs to be a high quality
as if not it will just looked over stretched and pixelated so the photo
needs to be studio style whilst still infusing the look that I am going
for.
If I add any other photos to this page then they will be really small
concert photographs or album covers (which I will make) apart from
that I am not planning on using any other photographs as they will just
bring the focus away and make it overcrowded.
