2. Shot that I was most proud of..
I really liked this shot as it was a full body shot so
you could tell more about the models with what
they are wearing for example. I also liked how
there was some activity within the picture, for
example, the model on the left looks as if she is
playing the guitar she is holding. The direct mode
of address engages the viewer.
As well as these things, I like the technical
elements to the image. The long shot shows the
surroundings and you can tell what genre of music
magazine this belongs to by the background. Also,
the models stand out from the darker background
which makes them the main focus.
Overall, I believe this is a very successful image as it
both pushes the normal conventions of a normal
front cover (night time image for example) and also
looks quite professional.
3. To improve..
• To improve the quality of my images and work I would have
possibly dome some more practice shots, trying out more and
more complicated shots so the magazine would contain more
varied shots. I would have also maybe edited them more and
in more unique ways.
• To improve my product I wouldn’t have used the same font I
used for the title of the music magazine again throughout the
whole magazine. This font is meant to be unique to the front
cover, but you could argue that it is pushing the normal
conventions of a music magazine and overal producing a more
unique magazine.
4. Limitations to creativity..
As I am not a very creative person, it took a while for me to come up with
ideas for my music magazine. It took a lot of influence from looking at many
different female and music magazines and pictures from the internet.
Coming up with the name of the magazine I found was the hardest. To
overcome this I made a mind map of potential words that linked to the genre
and then joined them all up to come up with an appropriate name for it.
Another problem that occurred was that when taking images I couldn’t think
of creative places and poses where I could take the images. This took a lot of
trial and error to get them to a standard that I was happy with.
Finally, editing the images I found was harder with the fact I wasn’t creative.
Because I have never really been creative I hadn’t used the software
(PhotoShop) before so that took a lot of help from the internet and peers
around me.
