Production day diary four
1.
2. On this day, our group met up at 3:00pm at Abi’s house for the purpose of filming the remaining shots
of Eve and Jess returning home from school-this shall be the start of the equilibrium and the starting
foundation of our editing throughout the post production stage, as well as re filming specific scenes
that we already shot logged at this location and felt that needed re filming for the benefit of our
production-such as the scenes in the alleyway and park where we felt the footage was slightly too
dark and may be a downfall to our project, so as a team we decided to re film the shots to enhance
the quality of it.
We decided to film a little more earlier than what we started with last week considering the day grew
rather dark quickly resulting in parts of our footage being a little too dark to make out as well as the
camera being a little too unfocused. To improve on, we filmed earlier and were aided with more
torches in order to lit up the scene and clearly display our footage.
The team arrived at the correct time and began to make our way to our chosen destination which was
needed first to begin the preparation of our horror teaser trailer.
3. The first scenes we needed to film was the street one as we certainly needed the daylight in order to convey
the impression the friends are coming home from school. Again these shots went successfully and without no
major problem. These were shots were following Eve and Jess as they walked home from school where Eve
first encounters her message on the floor.
I was filming my character again so was acting whilst assisting Abi in referring to the shot logs and character
actions, allowing us all to speak about the different scenes and determine which one would be best for our
production.
Abi took up a small acting role playing as Eves friend as well as parts filming, whereas Danielle continued to
film for us. All worked well as a group and rather quickly, allowing these specific shots to be completed before
the day gets too dark for us to continue filming with.
Small problems we encountered was that because it was a street it was used by residents or tend to have
cars driving past and spoiling the shots however the destination was rather quiet so this did not interfere too
much with our footage and we managed to get through the scenes rather briskly and effectively allowing us to
successfully film the remaining of our shots.
4. When we concluded the remaining shots we had acquired, the day was still rather light so we thought it was be best to re
film the scenes that we felt desperately needed to be re filmed from last weeks filming out in the park.
One of the scenes that we felt needed re filming was the scene where the whole group was needed to signal one another
to alert the actor was ready for filming and to appear in the shot-however due to the lamppost breaking throughout
filming, our group needed to make back up plans and select another lamppost in the park to carry on filming- with this, we
may need to flip some pieces of footage throughout editing to ensure that all shots flow efficiently an do not jump but that
is fine as I know how to flip footage having teaching myself to do so throughout the post production stages whilst editing
what we had.
This scene was filmed yet looked even better than before, I believe it was the right idea for our group to re film as the
scenes were much better to make out this time around so may enhance our production.
With re filming the park scenes we needed the assistance of Abi’s dad who happily assisted us in standing at the lone
antagonist watching Eve across the park, Danielle resumed her filming whilst Abi and I worked as signallers to summoned
to one another when Danielle was ready fro Abi’s dad to come out into the open. This team work allowed us to work
closely as a unit and further the successful out come of our horror teaser trailer.
5. After these scenes had been re filmed, our group also had time to re film shots within the alleyway-
whilst editing our group came across a scene where we felt it jumped in places and just did not look
right at all we decided as a group to re film this specific part yet do it as one full shot to make it look
more visually pleasing towards the eye. Due to the lamp post being some what out of action, again
the group relied on everyone's help in order to illuminate the scene so that it does not look too dark
yet due to us starting earlier than last time, this was not so much of a problem as it was not as dark
and we can see make our characters in the natural light but felt it looked better with torches as well
for that added comfort of being able to see the footage.
Again the team worked really well, discussing each shot thoroughly and thoughtfully, also visually
reminding ourselves of what our intended product is here and if it will work with our decisions based
from the shot log.
We did not encounter many problems during these scenes yet the lighting was a little problem due to
the lamp post suddenly breaking on us resulting in us having to use all our phones torches and
standards torches to help light the scene up.
6. After everything was re filmed and closely referred back to
the shot log to double check of this assumption, our group
was happy enough to pack up and leave the location to return
home-we felt we made good progress today and feel more
confident with the newly acquired footage than compared to
last time we filmed. Our only problem we encountered would
have been the lamp post breaking on us as we than had to
change our ideas around a bit yet apart from this, our group
managed to cope with this unexpected issue and handle it
with maturity-looking for the next best option in order to carry
on the shots.
We now can begin to edit all our footage togedher.
