2. DAY ONE FILMING: KIRA’S HOME
This day our group all met at Abby’s home and I drove
them to Luton to commence the start of our production
stages-this is by filming shots 35-42 depicting Kira’s
entrance and bedroom.
Here, the group all met up and began setting up in
Kira’s home in preparation for our scenes.
We mainly needed to film within Kira’s bedroom but
also the front door entrance-our group discussed
about making doubles of our footage to ensure that we
have multiple versions to go through them all and
choose the best piece for our production. That way we
can guarantee our success and decrease the need to
make another trip back over to Kira’s home and retake
shots.
On this day, I mainly had to cater to my role as Eve
who appears in most shots, where as my other team
members, Abby and Danielle directed and filmed
each scene. As a team, we discussed most shots and
character actions to make the footage seem as
realistic as possible to give that sense of verisimilitude
to audiences.
3. DAY ONE FILMING: KIRA’S BEDROOM
Date: 31st October 2016
Time: 3:40pm
Location: Kira’s Bedroom
At this time, the group managed to set the bedroom up, eliminating unnecessary
props and background that we felt did not fit within the narrative. We also set up and
prepared the cameras and tripod-in regards towards last years AS production, we
encountered a few problems that we identified with and overcame for this year, for
example, the camera was the major problem for us as the SD card was typically full
or the battery ran out so I made sure I brought the same camera that we were
predominantly using as well as an SD card and battery to ensure we are all fully
prepared.
We started filming at 3:40pm, beginning with shots 35-39. I was mostly used for
filming during this as my character dominated most shots. As an actor, it was my job
to ensure the footage remained visually pleasing as well as giving that sense of
verisimilitude to audiences to make our production come to life.
My team members, Abby and Danielle assisted myself throughout each shots, as we
closely referred back to our scripts and shot logs, discussing each shot considerably
and referring back to our production-it was important that we made more than one
shot and explore that throughout a range of angles and movements to guarantee the
best footage so we made sure we replicated each shots to come back to and choose
the best scene out of them all to be used for the final piece.
4. DAY ONE FILMING: KIRA’S FRONT
ENTRANCE
Date: 31/11/2016
Time: 5:00pm
Location: Kira’s front door entrance
Our group proceeded to film shot 40, again I
continued my role as Eve in this footage where Abi
and Danielle continued filming and direct as we slowly
guided our way throughout the shot log.
After this scene, our group discussed whether it will
be a good idea of not for a match on action shot of
character Eve walking up her drive. This makes the
narrative more engaging as audiences can tell what
she is doing and not be confused. However due to the
time constraints we possess whilst making this horror
teaser, we may have to debate upon proceeding with
this shot again as we feel like it may interfere with the
time restrictions we have-so we shall discuss again
about this shot when we come to the post production
stage.
5. DAY ONE OF FILMING: CADDINGTON
STREETS
Date: 31/10/2016
Time: 5:20pm
Location: Caddington Streets
Within this stage, our group proceeded to film the
remaining shots we had left on the shot list of this
filming day-these being shots 39-42.
These were outside on Caddington Streets, it was
important to note the time in order to pick this back up
when we resume our filming in order to match the dark
footage that we have gained in thee shots.
Again, I continued my role as character Eve but also
assisted Abby and Danielle in discussing relevant shots
that shall most certainly look visually pleasing in our
footage. Discussing unique shots that can be effective
for our teaser trailer that shall most certainly engage our
audiences.
Abby and Daniele continued filming the shots, again
repeating footage to ensure we have a wide range that
shall most certainly be as effective as the latter piece of
footage.
6. IN CONCLUSION…
In conclusion, I believe we have made excellent starting
progress for our horror teaser trailer. With the possessed
footage we have, the next step would be to evaluate the
shots and produce a shot log out of the obtained footage to
ensure each individual success and downfall, ultimately
informing us if any pieces of footage need to be improved
or reshot, and if yes, than how would we change it to make
it different from last time.
I believe that to improve from this day, I think I would like to
try shooting shots whilst I am not in the scenes, which shall
soon become relevant when other actors dominant the
footage. That way I get to explore both shooting scenes
with the camera and acting. Trying skills such as pans and
focus pulls would be of relevance as I would get to
experiment with the camera and trying skills I have not
been brave enough to attempt before.
Yet I am glad with the outcome of this day and the results it
has given us, we shall soon begin to edit this footage upon
receiving more pieces of footage that we shall get upon
continuing with filming.
