ECHNICAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCES Ability to coordinate the job, to verify the daily production to make report and dossier.
Able to check quality, management of crew and all the matters related to the activities of
blasting, painting and infill for joint coating.
Able to:
• Lead and instruct a work group for onshore and offshore jobs
• Undertake coating inspection work on structural steel, on site, under direct supervision
of a qualified inspector
• Read and understand a coating specification for surface preparation and coatings
application
• Use inspection equipment for quality control
Undertake coating inspection work in a fixed coatings facility (shop)
• Use and check the set up and maintenance conditions of all kind of equipment related to
blasting and coating application including but not limited to:
− Compressors
− Compressors Dryer, cooler and filtration systems
− Pumps for coating (any type)
− Sand blasting machines and related equipments (any type)
− Equipments to mix the chemical components
− Sand blasting machines an Filtration and recovery system equipments

• Recognize and able to distinguish some specialized coating techniques,
including:
− spray metallizing
− hot-dip galvanizing
− automated coatings application, including dip, roller, flood, and coil coating

(MSDS) in communication of coatings information
• Understand various generic types of coatings, including fireproofing, antifoulings, high-
heat coatings, and temporary protectives
• Recognize common coating failure modes
• Recognize some laboratory testing methods used to establish coating performance
criteria as well as evaluate coating failures.
