4. MEANING AND NATURE
Learning is a key process in human behaviour.
All living is learning. If we compare the simple,
crude ways in which a child feels and behaves,
with the complex modes of adult behaviour, his
skills, habits, thought, sentiments and the like-
we will know what difference learning has made
to the individual.
Learning is defined as ‘’Any relatively
permanent change in behaviour that occurs as a
result of practice and experience.’’
5. LEARNING
LEARNING-The Psychology of learning is a
theoretical Science. Learning is a process that
depends on experience and leads to long-term
changes in behaviour potential. Behaviour
potential designates the possible behaviour of an
individual, not actual behaviour.
6. TYPES OF LEARNING
1. VERBAL LEARNING
2. CONCEPT LEARNING
3. PROBLEM LEARNING
4. ATTITUDE LEARNING
7. VERBAL LEARNING: This type of learning involves the languages we
speak the communication devices we use. Signs, pictures, symbols,
words, figures, sounds, etc. are the tool used in such activites. We use
word for communication.
CONCEPT LEARNING: It is the form of learning which requires higher
order mental processes like thinking, reasoning, intelligence, etc. we
learn different concepts from childhood.
PROBLEM SOLVING: This is a higher order learning process. This
learning requires the use of cognitive ablities- such as thinking,
reasoning, observation, imagination, generalization, etc. This is very
useful to overcome difficult problems encountered by the people.
ATTITUDE LEARNING- Attitude is a predisposition which determines
and directs our behaviour. We develop different attitudes from our
childhood about the people, objects and everything we know. Our
behaviour may be positive or negative depending upon our attitudes.
EXAMPLE: attitude of nurse towards her profession, patients, etc.
8. STYLE OF LEARNING
There are three types of learning style
proposed by ‘’WALTER’’, ‘’BURKE’’,
‘’BARBE’’
VISUAL KINESTHETIC AUDITORY
9. CHARECTERSTICS OF LEARNING
Learning is universal.
Learning is a new system of experiences.
Learning is a change in behavior.
Learning is progress and development.
10. CONCLUSION
Learning and maturity have a deep
connection. Both of these are two sides of
the same coin and both have the same
target. Are impaired for each other.Learning
is an animate process , while maturity is an
unconscious process. Maturation in humans
is also a congenital process.
