3. USES FORMS AND
CONVENTIONS
• I used a title screen with a font that is
continued to be used throughout the
documentary.
• This conforms to generic forms of a
documentary as they have a specific house
style which is continued throughout the whole
documentary.
• I decided to conform to this form as I felt it
gave the documentary a good sense of
branding identity.
• I used music without lyrics throughout my
documentary.
• This uses conventions of a documentary as
they all include some instrumental music.
• I decided conform to this convention as it
creates a good pace for my documentary and
also makes it more interesting.
• I used shots of shop signs and windows.
• This uses conventions of a fashion
documentary as they usually use shots of
various shops and shop displays.
• I decided conform to this convention as it
strongly relates the documentary to its genre
(fashion).

4. DEVELOPS FORMS AND
CONVENTIONS
• I included both voiceovers and dialogue.
• This develops forms and conventions of a
documentary as some documentaries only use
one type of speech.
• I decided to use both as I felt it created more
dimension in the documentary and made it
more interesting.
• I used 3 interviews within my documentary.
• This develops generic conventions of a
documentary as they usually use around 1 or 2
interviews within a 5 minute extract
• I decided to use 3 interviews instead as it gave
a variety of opinions and showed different
areas of fashion that people may be interested
in.

5. CHALLENGES FORMS AND
CONVENTIONS
• I overlapped different interviews.
• This challenges forms and conventions as
different interviews are normally edited in
separately.
• I decided to overlap the interviews as I felt they
were relevant to each other and led onto each
other very well. This also broke up the
interviews and stopped them from getting
boring.
• I did not use a presenter in my documentary.
• This challenges conventions as a main
presenter is usually filmed throughout the
documentary.
• I decided to not use a main presenter as I felt
the shots of what the documentary was
discussing was more important, and so I used a
voiceover and dialogue instead.

7. USES FORMS AND
CONVENTIONS
• I added the logo of the channel which my
documentary would be aired on
• This is a generic convention of Newspaper
advertisements as it gives the necessary information
for the audience to then be able to find and watch the
documentary.
• I decided to use this convention as it gives the
audience vital information for the documentary.
• I used one main image for my poster and did not
use any other images
• This is also a generic convention of Newspaper
advertisements, this is because it makes the
audience focus on the information rather than the
images. However the main image will still create a
connection to the documentary and will make the
advertisement more eye catching.
• I decided to use this form as I feel it is important
for the audience to focus on the information of
the poster and only one image is needed to make
it eye catching.
8. DEVELOPS FORMS AND
CONVENTIONS
• I included the time which my documentary is being aired
at.
• This develops generic forms and conventions as not all
posters include the time of the documentary.
• I decided to develop this form as I found it was more
informative to include the time as well as the date of the
documentary.
• I put all of the information for the documentary together.
• This develops generic forms and conventions as all the
information is not usually placed all together, the air date
of the documentary would be placed separately to the
main title.
• I decided to develop this form as I found it was more
aesthetically pleasing to have all the information in one
place rather than dotted around the poster.
• I added a hashtag for my documentary for Twitter.
• This develops generic forms and conventions as not all
posters include a social media platform for the
documentary.
• I decided to develop this form as I felt it would connect the
audience to the documentary whilst allowing them to also
connect online by tweeting their own thoughts of the
documentary by using the hashtag
9. CHALLENGES FORMS AND
CONVENTIONS
• I used the same font as what I used in my documentary.
• This challenges forms and conventions of a documentary poster as they
usually use the font of the TV channel which the documentary is being
aired on.
• I decided to challenge this form as I wanted to make my poster clearly
related to my documentary and so I waned to continue the house style
throughout all its ancillary products.
• I used the full name of my documentary on the poster.
• This challenges forms ad conventions as the full name of the
documentary is not always used in documentary posters, instead they
use short phrases which relate to the documentary (example below).
• I decided to challenge this convention as I felt the poster needed clarity
by using the name of the documentary, this will make the documentary
a lot more identifiable.
11. USES FORMS AND
CONVENTIONS
• I used the full title of my documentary on the left half of
my double page spread.
• This uses generic forms and conventions as the main
title of the documentary is usually very clear and large
on the double page spread.
• I decided to conform to this convention as it is
important to make the double page spread clearly
linked to the documentary so the audience know what
it is about.
• I used 6 columns for the double page spread (3
columns on each page).
• This is a generic form of a double page spread.
• I decided to use this typical convention as it lays the
page out in an aesthetically pleasing way and creates a
structured page.
• I a sub heading below the main title.
• This uses generic forms and conventions as listings magazines
usually include a sub heading.
• I decided to conform to this form to ensure a professional
looking magazine.
• I used page numbers in the bottom corners of the pages.
• This uses generic forms and conventions as listings magazines
always have their page numbers in the corners of the pages.
• I decided to conform to this form as it creates a professional
looking magazine.
12. DEVELOPS FORMS AND
CONVENTIONS
• I decided to put the date,
time and channel which my
documentary is being aired
at and on twice on my
double page spread.
• This develops a convention
as generally this is only put
once on the page, however I
put it twice (once by itself
and once at the end of the
written article).
• I developed this convention
as I wanted to ensure that it
would be clearly seen by my
audience.
• I used lots of smaller images on my double page
spread
• This develops a convention as usually on a TV
listings magazine double page spread there is
only one main image used and rarely 1 or two
other smaller images.
• I developed this convention as I wanted to show
and promote more of the documentary on the
page, this would also make the page more
interesting.

13. CHALLENGES FORMS AND
CONVENTIONS
• I used one page for my article and one page for my
main title and sub heading.
• This challenges forms and conventions as the article
for a double page spread on a documentary usually
takes up the whole double page.
• I subverted to this form as I felt it suited the genre of
my documentary better and gave a more aesthetically
pleasing look.
• I have also included some listings of when the documentary is
being shown and at what time.
• This challenges generic forms and conventions as listings
magazines usually put the listings on a separate page to the
double page spread for a documentary.
• I decided to subvert to this convention as it gives the audience
additional, easy to access information.
