2. Main Product: Film Trailer - Enclosed
• Through my main product of my film trailer I included a range of different things
that were subject to all products. These included the title "Enclosed", which I
ensured was always in a blood red colour in order to highlight the genre of the film
being a psychological thriller. I then ensured that through my main product and my
ancillary task of creating a film poster, that I kept my production company's name
on there "CuThroatPictures". This was to ensure my product was like other real
media texts, making it seem more effective towards the target audience so they
would view my products as if they were real life products. These imitated real life
products, such as the Sinister poster and film trailer which highlighted the
production company "Blumhouse Productions". This was proved effective, as
during my audience feedback i had comments on my effectiveness of my billing
block, which one audience member said it "stood out" over many other contents of
my film poster and trailer, meaning that it made them think of real media texts,
showing it was effective.
3. Main Product: Film Trailer - Enclosed
• As a group, we also ensured that we included as much depth within
our film trailer as possible. In order to do this, we used research
and planning efficiently, ensuring that we made our trailer just as
effective as real media products. This, for example, is by us
studying the Shutter Island Trailer, in which the first shot you see is
a snippet of "audience viewing advice". We included this in our film
trailer, which made it seem more effective. As we had no intertitles
due to a challenging of codes and conventions on our behalf, we
ensured we included as much detail within our audience viewing
advice shot.
4. Main Product: Film Trailer - Enclosed
• Finally, to ensure our film trailer was as effective as it could be, we
studied certain scenes from other psychological thriller film trailers.
One consisted of a scene from "Shutter Island", where a patient is
telling the investigators to "shhh". We then used this within our trailer
as the narrative of our trailer was very close to Shutter Island's. This
worked effectively, as during our audience feedback one target audience
member responded that one of the most capturing scenes that stuck in
their head as most memorable was when one of our patients said
"Shhh". This could have been due to it becoming effective as they had
already seen it and memorised it from the Shutter Island trailer.
• We also included our billing block in our film trailer so we could make
the trailer seem as realistic as possible, ensuring it was effective
towards our target audience.
6. Ancillary Task: Film Poster
• This is my finished and drafted film poster I had created.
7. Ancillary Task - Film Poster
• I tried to make this poster as effective as possible whilst creating it. Audience
feedback from SurveyMonkey from my audience feedback agreed that it looked like
a real media text, making it effective straight away. People pointed out mainly the
image, billing block and tagline as being the most effective as it looked realistic, as
if it were a real media text.
• Responses from my target audience also commented on how the title stood out at
the top of the film poster, as they straight away recognised the Catholicism crucifix
in the middle of the "O" in the title "Enclosed". This was inspired to me as religion
was a main theme throughout our film trailer narrative, but also was inspired by a
real media text of another film poster "The Rite". This is a poster where the villains
face is inbedded into a crucifix as the main image. According to my first audience
feedback responses from my media class, they suggested the idea of adding a face
of the villain into the middle of the door knocker, so I decided to do this and gained
aspiration through "The Rite" 's poster.
9. Ancillary Task - Film Magazine Cover
• This is my finished and drafted version of my film magazine cover I
created.
10. Ancillary Task - Film Magazine Cover
• I tried to make this product as effective as a real media text by
following the majority of codes and conventions. I positioned my
masthead, splashes and plugs in similar places to other film
magazines, mainly focusing on film magazine Empire. I found,
however, that when a film magazine created a special or an
exclusive issue, they didn't include subsidiary images. I decided to
challenge the codes and conventions of having subsidiary images
by including none, as I wanted to make sure the target audience
focused mainly on the main image, and the film that it was
promoting which was "Enclosed". I did this by only making
reference to few other films, and including on my "plug" that there
was an opportunity for readers to win tickets to go and see the
premier of "Enclosed" for free. I felt this would appeal to my
specific target audience and make them want to buy my product.

issue".
12. Overall Effectiveness
• Overall I feel I have developed and created a range of competent,
direct and effective media products. I feel I have not only tried to
use codes and conventions, but I have tried to develop and
challenge them also, in order to make my products relevant but
diverse. There are changes I would make if I were to improve, such
as the font of my title in my film poster and some borders in my
magazine cover, but I feel my products are still very effective and
this has been proven through audience feedback. I feel I have not
only appealed to myself through my products but also to my target
audience, whom have all given positive feedback upon my
products. This makes me feel as though my overall effectiveness of
my products has been efficent as I have used both main and
ancillary tasks to create my own media product whilst working
independently and in a group.
