PATEL, NOW IT IS KAPIL SIBAL’S TURN
In this way, now Congress itself implements Modi-Shah’s ‘Congress-Mukt Bharat’ agenda
I had a deep relation
with Congress. It
was for 30-31 years.
This is not a small thing.
I joined Congress
because of Rajivji. You
must be thinking, how
one can go from the
Congress after 31 years.
There must be
something (for
leaving).. that my heart
is facing. Sometimes
such decisions are to
be taken. I am not far
away from the Con-
gress and its ideology. I
am with the sentiments
of the party
We want to make a
coalition and
oppose the Modi govt.
We want to create an
atmosphere in which
we can oppose the BJP.
I will personally work
towards that
I am with all-inclu-
sive ideologies. Be
it of the SP, RLD,
Mamataji or Stalin

“HOW’S THE PRASAD,
MR SIBAL?”: PRASADA
New Delhi: UP Minister Jitin Prasada, who quit
Cong joined BJP in June last year just before
Assembly polls, on Wednesday
found an opportunity to troll
Sibal, nearly a year after Sibal
- who himself left the Congress
- tweeted a swipe at Sibal for
joining rival party. Prasada was
Cong’s top Brahmin face in UP
once close to Rahul. The day Prasada bade farewell
to Cong, Sibal had tweeted, “Jitin Prasada joins BJP.
Question is will he get ‘prasada’ from BJP or is he
just a ‘catch’ for UP polls? In such deals if ‘ideology’
doesn’t matter changeover is easy,” Sibal tweeted.

Ashwini Kumar Choubey, a
veteran BJP leader from Bi-
har, shares with us how PM
Modi, who was the CM of Gu-
jarat in 2013, came to his fam-
ily’s rescue when they were
stranded amidst nature’s fury
atKedarnath.Hetellsusabout
how Modiji left no stone un-
turned to rescue him and his
family who were then inside
the sanctum sanctorum of the
Kedarnath temple and he lay
unconscious there. Modiji
kept the rescue work on for
several hours and did every-
thing in his power to help
those stuck within the temple.
On June 16, 2013, I reached
Patna after attending the
working committee meeting
in Goa, and from there, along
with my family
, left for Kedar-
nath. We knew that the situa-
tion in Kedarnath was not
ordinary as it had been rain-
ing continuously for 3 days. I
called up the District Magis-
trate at Rudraprayag and he
said that the situation was
quite grim as landslides had
blocked roads at several plac-
es. He also said that it would
take a couple of days for them
to meet me.
Even as we were having a
conversation, I received a call
from Narendra bhai. He
asked about my whereabouts
and I told him I was in Kedar-
nath and that the situation
there seemed rather terrify-
ing and that I had a feeling of
impending doom. As Modiji
hung up, I received a call
from a journalist in Patna. As
we were conversing, I heard
the deafening roar of a disas-
ter. It was as if a thousand
dynamites had gone off all at
once and the lone candle
burning on the table since
morning as there was no elec-
tricity, was blown off. It was
pitch dark. My sons Arjit and
Aviral and my son-in-law
Subodh were sitting around
the table with me and my
youngest son said “Papaji I
think it’s an earthquake.”
The sounds of nature were
ear-shattering
and I could
hear nothing then. Suddenly,
I was floating in water up to
my chest. The entire room
seemed to be engulfed in wa-
ter and my entire family was
deep in water. We could hard-
ly hear or see each other.
I was overwhelmed
and
overcome with emotion. We
had just offered our prayers at
theJagadgurushrineandnow
I could see our revered statue
of LordShivaimmersedinthe
deluge. People, houses, and
animals, all were being swept
awayinthedevastatingfloods.
The devotees were jostling in
the water to somehow stay
afloat.Itseemedasif theheav-
ens had torn asunder as we
saw the house where the devo-
tees were standing moments
ago, being swept away in the
flash floods. Those three days,
June 16th, 17th and 18th have
leftanindelibleimpressionon
me because we, along with
scores of people, spent those
days within the seer’s sama-
dhi. In the evening of June
18th we heard sound of heli-
copters from Bhata, but we
knew nothing was possible
because of the unprecedented
devastation we could witness
all around.
On 20th June, we received
a call from the National Con-
venor and we then tried to
establish contact with Naren-
dra bhai. When Modiji called,
I was not in a position to
speak because of exhaustion.
My son Arjit spoke with him
as he inquired about our
whereabouts, our health and
the condition of all the people
around us. Modiji was anx-
ious not just for us but for all
the people who were stranded
and dying. He spoke in great
detail with Arjit and after
taking in the minutest de-
tails, he comforted my son
that everything would be al-
right. He would inform Suni-
lji and tell him to arrange for
help as soon as possible. He
also said he would speak with
the CM of Uttarakhand, Ba-
hugunaji to send for rescue
and in case, there is still any
hindrance in the rescue op-
eration, Narendrabhai
as-
sured my son that he would
send a helicopter from Guja-
rat for our safe and quick res-
cue. He went to the extent of
saying that he himself would
reach Kedarnath to protect
us. Such words of assurances
and promises went a long way
in comforting our family and
in raising hopes of getting
another day to live and serve
the people of our country
.
I can never forget how deep-
ly Narendra bhai was touched
by the plight of thousands
devastated by the floods. His
mind was constantly focused
on ways and means to send
across relief to the victims
and the first-hand-experie
nc-
es narrated by Arjit had a
deep impact on Narendrab-
hai’s psyche. In his heart, he
simply wanted to be present
in-person to render help to the
affected people. Although he
was the CM of Gujarat at that
time, but his heart went out to
each one of his countrymen
who were suffering the wrath
of nature. Only a true leader,
a great statesman can feel and
think of the common man in
such a way
.
While I was hospitalised, I
heard him asking how as the
CM of Gujarat he could be of
help in a disaster of such a
great magnitude and assured
of all the help from the Guja-
rat government to bring re-
lief to people. I was so full of
emotion and touched by these
words and I thought, Naren-
dra bhai is no ordinary man.
He is a man with a vision
who’s priority is not just his
state, but the country, and
now it’s not just the country
but the entire world.
He was never constrained
by boundaries and this vast-
ness of spirit and the magna-
nimity of heart that he dis-
plays, it is a result of his
bhakti. He is a spiritually
evolved leader and this is his
greatest shakti. How this
shakti is manifesting itself
by protecting our country is
for one and all to see and ex-
perience!.

fever and cough were the
most common present-

New Delhi (PTI): The
Delhi government will

1, Environment Minis-

The government will
also incentivise units

he said. The policy
aims to promote entre-

Rai said the Munici-

items so that they can
be linked with units
manufacturing their
alternatives.
“After the ban on
SUP items comes into

Water motors, power meters among
most stolen objects during house thefts
New Delhi: An analysis
of e-FIRs filed in con-
nection with burglaries
and house theft under-
taken by the Delhi Po-
lice Crime Branch has
revealed that around
80% of the cases relate
to theft of cell phones,
water and electricity
meters, motors, and
sewer lids.
Delhi Police Commis-
sioner Rakesh Asthana
has asked all 15 DCPs to
now make a plan of ac-
tion and keep tabs on lo-
cal scrap dealers to pre-
vent such petty thefts.
This came up for discus-
sion during a recent
crime review meeting at
the Delhi Police head-
quarters that included
the Police Commission-
er along with Special
CPs, Joint CPs and
DCPs.
On January 26, Astha-
na had launched an e-
FIR system for registra-
tion of house theft and
burglary cases online to
save the people’s time.
Before this, there was a
similar system for lodg-
ing e-FIRs for vehicle
thefts and simple thefts,
launched by former po-
lice chief B S Bassi in
2015. Data provided by
the Delhi Police till April
20 this year shows that
4,479 cases have been re-
ported as compared to
1,578 cases last year dur-
ing the same time peri-
od. “The maximum cas-
es have been reported in
Dwarka (749) followed by
471 in Northwest Delhi,
457 in Southeast Delhi,
421 in Outer Delhi and
363 in South Delhi,” an

This comes after pri-

Monday, defended the
changes made to some
portions of Kannada

dropping of Sara Abu-
backer and other pro-

separate letters, the duo

“Anyone dropping the
writings of people like

However, if you don’t be
inclusive of caste in a
country like India, at
least 90 per cent of peo-

thus impacting the par-

bail in an alleged hate
speech case was can-
celled by a court in the

into custody by the Ker-

also granted the police

George and produce

George, along with
his son Shaun George
had arrived before the

“While the police was

yardstick is not seen

Ashwini Kumar Choubey, a
veteran BJP leader from Bi-
har, shares with us how PM
Modi, who was the CM of Gu-
jarat in 2013, came to his fam-
ily’s rescue when they were
stranded amidst nature’s fury
atKedarnath.Hetellsusabout
how Modiji left no stone un-
turned to rescue him and his
family who were then inside
the sanctum sanctorum of the
Kedarnath temple and he lay
unconscious there. Modiji
kept the rescue work on for
several hours and did every-
thing in his power to help
those stuck within the temple.
On June 16, 2013, I reached
Patna after attending the
working committee meeting
in Goa, and from there, along
with my family
, left for Kedar-
nath. We knew that the situa-
tion in Kedarnath was not
ordinary as it had been rain-
ing continuously for 3 days. I
called up the District Magis-
trate at Rudraprayag and he
said that the situation was
quite grim as landslides had
blocked roads at several plac-
es. He also said that it would
take a couple of days for them
to meet me.
Even as we were having a
conversation, I received a call
from Narendra bhai. He
asked about my whereabouts
and I told him I was in Kedar-
nath and that the situation
there seemed rather terrify-
ing and that I had a feeling of
impending doom. As Modiji
hung up, I received a call
from a journalist in Patna. As
we were conversing, I heard
the deafening roar of a disas-
ter. It was as if a thousand
dynamites had gone off all at
once and the lone candle
burning on the table since
morning as there was no elec-
tricity, was blown off. It was
pitch dark. My sons Arjit and
Aviral and my son-in-law
Subodh were sitting around
the table with me and my
youngest son said “Papaji I
think it’s an earthquake.”
The sounds of nature were
ear-shattering and I could
hear nothing then. Suddenly,
I was floating in water up to
my chest. The entire room
seemed to be engulfed in wa-
ter and my entire family was
deep in water. We could hard-
ly hear or see each other.
I was overwhelmed and
overcome with emotion. We
had just offered our prayers at
theJagadgurushrineandnow
I could see our revered statue
of LordShivaimmersedinthe
deluge. People, houses, and
animals, all were being swept
awayinthedevastatingfloods.
The devotees were jostling in
the water to somehow stay
afloat.Itseemedasif theheav-
ens had torn asunder as we
saw the house where the devo-
tees were standing moments
ago, being swept away in the
flash floods. Those three days,
June 16th, 17th and 18th have
leftanindelibleimpressionon
me because we, along with
scores of people, spent those
days within the seer’s sama-
dhi. In the evening of June
18th we heard sound of heli-
copters from Bhata, but we
knew nothing was possible
because of the unprecedented
devastation we could witness
all around.
On 20th June, we received
a call from the National Con-
venor and we then tried to
establish contact with Naren-
dra bhai. When Modiji called,
I was not in a position to
speak because of exhaustion.
My son Arjit spoke with him
as he inquired about our
whereabouts, our health and
the condition of all the people
around us. Modiji was anx-
ious not just for us but for all
the people who were stranded
and dying. He spoke in great
detail with Arjit and after
taking in the minutest de-
tails, he comforted my son
that everything would be al-
right. He would inform Suni-
lji and tell him to arrange for
help as soon as possible. He
also said he would speak with
the CM of Uttarakhand, Ba-
hugunaji to send for rescue
and in case, there is still any
hindrance in the rescue op-
eration, Narendrabhai as-
sured my son that he would
send a helicopter from Guja-
rat for our safe and quick res-
cue. He went to the extent of
saying that he himself would
reach Kedarnath to protect
us. Such words of assurances
and promises went a long way
in comforting our family and
in raising hopes of getting
another day to live and serve
the people of our country
.
I can never forget how deep-
ly Narendra bhai was touched
by the plight of thousands
devastated by the floods. His
mind was constantly focused
on ways and means to send
across relief to the victims
and the first-hand-experienc-
es narrated by Arjit had a
deep impact on Narendrab-
hai’s psyche. In his heart, he
simply wanted to be present
in-person to render help to the
affected people. Although he
was the CM of Gujarat at that
time, but his heart went out to
each one of his countrymen
who were suffering the wrath
of nature. Only a true leader,
a great statesman can feel and
think of the common man in
such a way
.
While I was hospitalised, I
heard him asking how as the
CM of Gujarat he could be of
help in a disaster of such a
great magnitude and assured
of all the help from the Guja-
rat government to bring re-
lief to people. I was so full of
emotion and touched by these
words and I thought, Naren-
dra bhai is no ordinary man.
He is a man with a vision
who’s priority is not just his
state, but the country, and
now it’s not just the country
but the entire world.
He was never constrained
by boundaries and this vast-
ness of spirit and the magna-
nimity of heart that he dis-
plays, it is a result of his
bhakti. He is a spiritually
evolved leader and this is his
greatest shakti. How this
shakti is manifesting itself
by protecting our country is
for one and all to see and ex-
perience!.

Sharat K Verma
Patna: Bihar Chief
Minister Nitish Ku-
mar is in no hurry to
make a political move.
For the past one week,
there has been a ruck-
us about the things
that have happened in
Patna.
The first and biggest
issue is whether or not
Nitish Kumar will give
a Rajya Sabha ticket to
the Union Minister
and his ‘special war-
lord’ RCP Singh? The
second question is,
will Nitish break away
from BJP and recon-
cile with RJD? Both
the issues are very se-
rious and have far-
reaching political im-
plications, however,
Nitish is not taking
any decision in a hur-
ry. He is maintaining
his distance from RCP
and despite this, it is
not final he will cut
RCP’s ticket.
On the other hand,
Tejashwi Yadav has
been roaming in Lon-
don for a week. If there
is to be a change of
power in Bihar and the
events are changing
quickly, he should
have been in Patna.
But he was away from
Patna, so questions
are being raised on the
possibility of change
of power.
Still, whatever deci-
sion Nitish Kumar has
to take, he will take it
after the all-party
meeting on caste cen-
sus to be held this
week. The Bharatiya
Janata Party has made
it clear that it is not in
favor of the caste cen-
sus, but the party will
not oppose it in Bihar.
If the BJP did not
participate in the all-
party meeting or
raised questions on it,
then it could be a mat-
ter of separation for
Nitish Kumar and all
the parties like RJD,
JDU, Congress, Left,
LJP, Hum, VIP will
come together. If this
happens then BJP will
be isolated.
Nitish has proposed
an all-party meeting
on Friday i.e. May 27
and the last date for fil-
ing nominations for
the Rajya Sabha is
May 30. So whatever
decision Nitish will
take, it is likely to hap-
pen only after May 27,
before which Tejashwi
will also reach Patna.
Will Nitish wait to strike on BJP after all party meet?

while appointing IPS of-

organisations will be
the last option.
As per the sources,
the frontrunner for the
post of IB chief is 1987

RAJYA SABHA POLLS
SENA’S RAUT, SANJAY PAWAR
TO FILE NOMINATION TODAY
First India Bureau
Mumbai: Shiv Sena’s
Chief Spokesperson
Sanjay Raut on Wednes-
day said that he and
party colleague Sanjay
Pawar will file their
nomination papers for
the upcoming Rajya
Sabha polls, on May 26.
Pawar, the Shiv Sena
Kolhapur district presi-
dent, will be the party’s
second candidate for
the June 10 polls, Raut
had said on Tuesday, in
a clear snub to former
MP Chhatrapati Samb-
hajiraje, who was seek-
ing support for his can-
didature. The Sena,
which heads the coali-
tion government in Ma-
harashtra, will contest
two Rajya Sabha seats
and ensure victory in
both, asserted Raut,
whom the party has
granted a fourth con-
secutive term in the Up-
per House of Parlia-
ment.
Talking to reporters
on Wednesday, Raut
said, “The Shiv Sena
leaders had a discus-
sion with Chief Minis-
ter Uddhav Thackeray
and it has been decided
that Sanjay Pawar and I
will file our nomina-
tions for the Rajya Sab-
ha polls on Thursday.
There is no question of
supporting Sambhaji-
raje anymore.”
He said CM Thacker-
ay will be present when
they file their nomina-
tion papers.
“The Shiv Sena has
been firm on giving
tickets to party candi-
dates and we repeatedly
communicated it to
Sambhajiraje as well,”
he said. Asked about
Shiv Sena fighting
against Sambhajiraje,
Raut said, “We are not
fighting against him.
We respect him. We
have enough numbers
in the Assembly to win
two seats, and hence, we
have fielded Sanjay Pa-
war as well.”

Heated arguments between BJP,
SP members in UP Assembly
First India Bureau
Lucknow: The Uttar

nessed a heated ex-
change of words be-
tween the BJP and SP
members on Wednes-
day, after Deputy Chief
Minister Keshav Prasad
Maurya’s remarks
irked Leader of Opposi-

Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath had to in-
tervene, saying unpar-
liamentary words and
threats should not be
made part of the pro-
ceedings as it would
set a wrong precedent.
Participating in the
discussion on the gov-
ernor’s address, Mau-
rya said during his
speech in the House,
Yadav was “praising”
the work done in the
state when he was the
chief minister.
“If his work was of
any good, people would
not have cleaned up
the SP’s mess in the
election,” the BJP
leader said.
On Yadav’s claims of
launching various
schemes during the SP
regime, Maurya said,
“The leader of opposi-
tion does not get tired
of counting the
achievements of his
five-year tenure.
Which disease do you
have? If there is any
disease, I would say
that you get tested.”
“I would request
that the Leader of the
Opposition should get
proper treatment from
wherever he wants. Get
rid of this disease of
pasting a sticker of the
Samajwadi Party on
every scheme. You have
been out of power for
five years. Now, out
again for five more
years. Your number will
not come for the next 25

GUJ: BSF SEIZES PAK FISHING
BOAT NEAR BORDER IN KUTCH
First India Bureau
Ahmedabad: The Bor-
der Security Force
(BSF) on Wednesday
seized an abandoned
Pakistani fishing boat
near the border in Guja-
rat’s Kutch district, an
official release said.
A patrolling team of
the BSF spotted the boat
in the morning on the
Indian side of the bor-
der with Pakistan in
Harami Nala creek
area, it said.
Nothing suspicious
was recovered from the
boat except fishing nets
and equipment, the
force said in a state-
ment. An intensive
search of the area was
launched after the boat
was found, it said.
“Crossing the marsh-
es and nalas on foot, the
BSF patrol party imme-
diately reached the spot
and seized one Paki-
stani fishing boat about
100 meters inside the
Indian border near bor-
der pillar no. 1165,” said
the release. The boat
was probably swept in-
side the Indian territo-
ry due to “high sea state
and strong winds,” the
BSF said. Fishermen
from Pakistan are fre-
quently apprehended in
this marshy area after
entering the Indian wa-
ters, mostly in search of
better catch. Indian
fishermen are barred
from entering the creek
due to security reasons.
In February, the BSF
had launched a massive
combing operation in
the Harami Nala area
against intruders and
caught six Pak nation-
als while seizing 11 fish-
ing boats. On May 4, the
BSF had seized a boat
abandoned by Pakistani
fishermen in the same
area.

New Delhi (PTI): The
National Green Tribu-
nal (NGT) has directed
the Uttarakhand chief
secretary to look into a
complaint alleging dis-
charge of untreated
waste into the river
Ganga in Rishikesh and
ensure adequate ar-
rangements for setting
up requisite sewage
treatment plants in the
state.
A bench headed by
NGT Chairperson Jus-
tice Adarsh Kumar
Goel noted the submis-
sion of the petitioner
that agents of the mu-
nicipal corporation
were taking bath and
washing vehicles using
the tap installed outside
a toilet complex on the
banks of the river Gan-
ga in Rishikesh.
“We direct the chief
secretary of Uttara-
khand to look into the
matter and take reme-
dial action in accord-
ance with law,’ the
bench said.
The tribunal’s order
came on a plea seeking
execution of the NGT’s
January 3, 2022 order
directing the Uttara-
khand government to
ensure that no untreat-
ed waste is discharged
into the river Ganga or
its tributary
.
The NGT had earlier
said that there has to be
an awareness pro-
gramme as well as a
monitoring cell created
at each municipal level
to ensure that no un-
treated waste is dis-
charged into the river.
“All the Ganga bank
towns and villages need
to follow septage proto-
cols as well as norms
applicable to the flood
protection zones. Evac-
uation from septic
tanks must be linked to
the pre-identified
STPs,” it had said.
The directions came
while disposing of a
plea filed by Vipin Nay-
yar against construc-
tion activities in the
flood plain zone of the
river Ganga.
The plea contended
that the Rishikesh Mu-
nicipal Corporation is
constructing toilets on
the flood plain zone il-
legally and discharging
untreated waste there-
from in the Ganga.
No STP has been con-
structed to treat the
waste, the plea said.

Ukraine: 200 bodies found in

Kyiv (AP): Workers
digging through the
rubble of an apartment
building in Mariupol
found 200 bodies in the
basement, Ukrainian
authorities, as more
horrors come to light in
the ruined city that has
seen some of the worst
suffering of the
3-month-old war.
The bodies were de-
composing and the
stench hung over the
neighbourhood, said
Petro Andryushchen-
ko, an adviser to the
mayor. He did not say
when they were discov-
ered, but the sheer
number of victims
makes it one of the
deadliest known at-
tacks of the war.
Heavy fighting,
meanwhile, was report-

ies.
Twelve people were
killed by Russian shell-
ing in the Donetsk re-

cording to the regional
governor. And the gov-

region of the Donbas
said the area is facing
its most difficult time
in the eight years since
separatist fighting
erupted there.

National Green Tribu-

ing unregulated extrac-

regulated withdrawal

can certainly affect the
natural water cycle and
environmental func-
tions performed by it.
“We have considered
the matter. Unregulated

he year 2022 would be
the year of periwin-
kle: a soft, soothing
shade-giving baby
blanket vibes. Maybe
we could have used a
swaddling palette af-
ter the past two tur-
bulent years, but
the breakout col-
our trend of 2022
couldn’t be far-
ther away in spir-
it. It turns out
fashion de-
signers wanted something
brighter, bolder, and more en-
ergetic: They wanted hot pink
and dynamic blue.
As we attempt to break down
why we wear what we wear,
and codify the qualities of dif-
ferent garments, it’s worth
starting with colour. An al-
ready well-established notion,
colour psychology looks at the
moods, qualities and emotions
associated with the shades of
Pink and Blue.
In the 21st century, the style
trends of the fashion industry
dominate the world more than
they ever did and control not
only the way people dress but
also trends in homeware de-
sign, makeup fashion and peo-
ple’s overall attitudes. In the
60s flower power did not only
mean flares and tunics, but it
also summed up the whole at-
titude of a generation, and this
is even more prominent today
.
Nowadays, fashion is bold
and daring, and this reflects a
noughties generation that is
not afraid to say what they
think or wear what they want.
Celebrating life’s special oc-
casions is one of the most joy-
ous things in the world. When
it comes to fashion, this means
wearing something that you
love and something that ex-
presses who you are. Fash-
ion photography is a
popular photog-
raphy genre,
but it is also
highly competitive. Under-
standing the different types
of fashion photography can
give you the edge you need
to both understand the
field and impress potential
clients with your images.
The phrase “leap of
faith” must be indeli-
bly imprinted on the
mind of just about
every young de-
signer who has
decided to go it
alone with their
own label
today.

PM Narendra Modi (R) with Union HM Amit Shah. —FILE PHOTO AFTER SUNIL JAKHAR AND HARDIK PATEL, NOW IT IS KAPIL SIBAL’S TURN In this way, now Congress itself implements Modi-Shah’s ‘Congress-Mukt Bharat’ agenda I had a deep relation with Congress. It was for 30-31 years. This is not a small thing. I joined Congress because of Rajivji. You must be thinking, how one can go from the Congress after 31 years. There must be something (for leaving).. that my heart is facing. Sometimes such decisions are to be taken. I am not far away from the Con- gress and its ideology. I am with the sentiments of the party We want to make a coalition and oppose the Modi govt. We want to create an atmosphere in which we can oppose the BJP. I will personally work towards that I am with all-inclu- sive ideologies. Be it of the SP, RLD, Mamataji or Stalin Kapil Sibal is a senior lead- er and a known lawyer. He had been in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and put his point across well everywhere. I hope he will put his views on big questions of unemployment and inflation, insecure borders and China. —Akhilesh Yadav, SP supremo “HOW’S THE PRASAD, MR SIBAL?”: PRASADA New Delhi: UP Minister Jitin Prasada, who quit Cong joined BJP in June last year just before Assembly polls, on Wednesday found an opportunity to troll Sibal, nearly a year after Sibal - who himself left the Congress - tweeted a swipe at Sibal for joining rival party. Prasada was Cong’s top Brahmin face in UP once close to Rahul. The day Prasada bade farewell to Cong, Sibal had tweeted, “Jitin Prasada joins BJP. Question is will he get ‘prasada’ from BJP or is he just a ‘catch’ for UP polls? In such deals if ‘ideology’ doesn’t matter changeover is easy,” Sibal tweeted. Kapil Sibal files his nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections, with the support of SP, in presence of party chief Akhilesh Yadav and party MP Ram Gopal Yadav, in Lucknow on Wednesday. All said and done, Gandhis have again failed to work out some suitable strategy to check the outgoing Congress leaders. At this point, senior Con- gress leaders still re- member Hardik Patel’s disappointingstatement saying that there is a lackof seriousnessatall levels in the party . Kapil Sibal’s resignation is one more such incident. Announcing that he had resigned from Con- gress last week, Kapil Sibal on Wednesday filed his nomination for RS as an Independent supported by the SP. A prominent member of the G23, which had sought an organisation- aloverhaulinCongress. Editor-In-Chief: Jagdeesh Chandra Editor: Anita Hada Sangwan responsible for selection of news under the PRB Act inister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Dis- tribution and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ashwini Kumar Choubey, a veteran BJP leader from Bi- har, shares with us how PM Modi, who was the CM of Gu- jarat in 2013, came to his fam- ily’s rescue when they were stranded amidst nature’s fury atKedarnath.Hetellsusabout how Modiji left no stone un- turned to rescue him and his family who were then inside the sanctum sanctorum of the Kedarnath temple and he lay unconscious there. Modiji kept the rescue work on for several hours and did every- thing in his power to help those stuck within the temple. On June 16, 2013, I reached Patna after attending the working committee meeting in Goa, and from there, along with my family , left for Kedar- nath. We knew that the situa- tion in Kedarnath was not ordinary as it had been rain- ing continuously for 3 days. I called up the District Magis- trate at Rudraprayag and he said that the situation was quite grim as landslides had blocked roads at several plac- es. He also said that it would take a couple of days for them to meet me. Even as we were having a conversation, I received a call from Narendra bhai. He asked about my whereabouts and I told him I was in Kedar- nath and that the situation there seemed rather terrify- ing and that I had a feeling of impending doom. As Modiji hung up, I received a call from a journalist in Patna. As we were conversing, I heard the deafening roar of a disas- ter. It was as if a thousand dynamites had gone off all at once and the lone candle burning on the table since morning as there was no elec- tricity, was blown off. It was pitch dark. My sons Arjit and Aviral and my son-in-law Subodh were sitting around the table with me and my youngest son said “Papaji I think it’s an earthquake.” The sounds of nature were ear-shattering and I could hear nothing then. Suddenly, I was floating in water up to my chest. The entire room seemed to be engulfed in wa- ter and my entire family was deep in water. We could hard- ly hear or see each other. I was overwhelmed and overcome with emotion. We had just offered our prayers at theJagadgurushrineandnow I could see our revered statue of LordShivaimmersedinthe deluge. People, houses, and animals, all were being swept awayinthedevastatingfloods. The devotees were jostling in the water to somehow stay afloat.Itseemedasif theheav- ens had torn asunder as we saw the house where the devo- tees were standing moments ago, being swept away in the flash floods. Those three days, June 16th, 17th and 18th have leftanindelibleimpressionon me because we, along with scores of people, spent those days within the seer’s sama- dhi. In the evening of June 18th we heard sound of heli- copters from Bhata, but we knew nothing was possible because of the unprecedented devastation we could witness all around. On 20th June, we received a call from the National Con- venor and we then tried to establish contact with Naren- dra bhai. When Modiji called, I was not in a position to speak because of exhaustion. My son Arjit spoke with him as he inquired about our whereabouts, our health and the condition of all the people around us. Modiji was anx- ious not just for us but for all the people who were stranded and dying. He spoke in great detail with Arjit and after taking in the minutest de- tails, he comforted my son that everything would be al- right. He would inform Suni- lji and tell him to arrange for help as soon as possible. He also said he would speak with the CM of Uttarakhand, Ba- hugunaji to send for rescue and in case, there is still any hindrance in the rescue op- eration, Narendrabhai as- sured my son that he would send a helicopter from Guja- rat for our safe and quick res- cue. He went to the extent of saying that he himself would reach Kedarnath to protect us. Such words of assurances and promises went a long way in comforting our family and in raising hopes of getting another day to live and serve the people of our country . I can never forget how deep- ly Narendra bhai was touched by the plight of thousands devastated by the floods. His mind was constantly focused on ways and means to send across relief to the victims and the first-hand-experie nc- es narrated by Arjit had a deep impact on Narendrab- hai’s psyche. In his heart, he simply wanted to be present in-person to render help to the affected people. Although he was the CM of Gujarat at that time, but his heart went out to each one of his countrymen who were suffering the wrath of nature. Only a true leader, a great statesman can feel and think of the common man in such a way . While I was hospitalised, I heard him asking how as the CM of Gujarat he could be of help in a disaster of such a great magnitude and assured of all the help from the Guja- rat government to bring re- lief to people. I was so full of emotion and touched by these words and I thought, Naren- dra bhai is no ordinary man. He is a man with a vision who’s priority is not just his state, but the country, and now it’s not just the country but the entire world. He was never constrained by boundaries and this vast- ness of spirit and the magna- nimity of heart that he dis- plays, it is a result of his bhakti. He is a spiritually evolved leader and this is his greatest shakti. How this shakti is manifesting itself by protecting our country is for one and all to see and ex- perience!. The policy aims to promote entre- preneurship in the na- tional capital by pro- viding financial assis- tance to build a suc- cessful business. Rai said the Munici- pal Corporation of Del- hi (MCD) has been asked to prepare a list of shops selling SUP items so that they can be linked with units manufacturing their alternatives. “After the ban on SUP items comes into force (from July 1), there will be a new challenge for workers, suppliers, manufactur- ers and sellers of such products. “Secondly, SUP items are being used at a large scale. Keeping these things in mind, we discussed the alter- natives available in the market at a conference with departments con- cerned,” Rai said. This comes after pri- mary and secondary minister BC Nagesh, on Monday, defended the changes made to some portions of Kannada and Social Science text- books, including the dropping of Sara Abu- backer and other pro- gressive writers. In two separate letters, the duo haveexpressedtheirdis- appointment by calling themethodof reviewing textbooks as ‘undemo- cratic’ and ‘unethical’. “Anyone dropping the writings of people like AL Basavaraju, AN Murthy, P Lankesh and Sara Abubaker is not aware of Karnataka and its culture. Rohith Chakrathirtha who headed the textbook re- view committee, claims thatheisnotidentifying writers by their caste. However, if you don’t be inclusive of caste in a country like India, at least 90 per cent of peo- ple would be excluded, thus impacting the par- ticipatory model of de- mocracy . Hence, I have withdrawn from giving permission to use my writings in the text- book,” Mahedeva said in his letter. He also added that BJP has always inter- fered and is manipulat- ing education and his- tory since the days of former union human resources development minister Murali Mano- har Joshi. Sources told media that BJP has assured Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of support for the caste-based Census in Bihar. He had another similar case for which he was to appear before the police as a lower court which granted him bail on May 1 had cancelled it. Speaking to the me- dia, State BJP chief Surendran said it was unfair that there are different laws for differ- ent people. “While the police was quick to arrest George for a hate speech, this yardstick is not seen when the same crime is being committed by others (Muslim lead- ers), no arrest is made. Editor-In-Chief: Jagdeesh Chandra. Editor: Sharat K Verma responsible for selection of news under the PRB Act inister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Dis- tribution and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ashwini Kumar Choubey, a veteran BJP leader from Bi- har, shares with us how PM Modi, who was the CM of Gu- jarat in 2013, came to his fam- ily’s rescue when they were stranded amidst nature’s fury atKedarnath.Hetellsusabout how Modiji left no stone un- turned to rescue him and his family who were then inside the sanctum sanctorum of the Kedarnath temple and he lay unconscious there. His mind was constantly focused on ways and means to send across relief to the victims and the first-hand-experienc- es narrated by Arjit had a deep impact on Narendrab- hai’s psyche. Sharat K Verma Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Ku- mar is in no hurry to make a political move. For the past one week, there has been a ruck- us about the things that have happened in Patna. The first and biggest issue is whether or not Nitish Kumar will give a Rajya Sabha ticket to the Union Minister and his ‘special war- lord’ RCP Singh? The second question is, will Nitish break away from BJP and recon- cile with RJD? Both the issues are very se- rious and have far- reaching political im- plications, however, Nitish is not taking any decision in a hur- ry. He is maintaining his distance from RCP and despite this, it is not final he will cut RCP’s ticket. On the other hand, Tejashwi Yadav has been roaming in Lon- don for a week. If there is to be a change of power in Bihar and the events are changing quickly, he should have been in Patna. But he was away from Patna, so questions are being raised on the possibility of change of power. Still, whatever deci- sion Nitish Kumar has to take, he will take it after the all-party meeting on caste cen- sus to be held this week. The Bharatiya Janata Party has made it clear that it is not in favor of the caste cen- sus, but the party will not oppose it in Bihar. If the BJP did not participate in the all- party meeting or raised questions on it, then it could be a mat- ter of separation for Nitish Kumar and all the parties like RJD, JDU, Congress, Left, LJP, Hum, VIP will come together. If this happens then BJP will be isolated. Nitish has proposed an all-party meeting on Friday i.e. May 27 and the last date for fil- ing nominations for the Rajya Sabha is May 30. So whatever decision Nitish will take, it is likely to hap- pen only after May 27, before which Tejashwi will also reach Patna. Will Nitish wait to strike on BJP after all party meet? Nowadays, fashion is bold and daring, and this reflects a noughties generation that is not afraid to say what they think or wear what they want. Celebrating life’s special oc- casions is one of the most joy- ous things in the world. When it comes to fashion, this means wearing something that you love and something that ex- presses who you are. Fash- ion photography is a popular photog- raphy genre, but it is also highly competitive. Under- standing the different types of fashion photography can give you the edge you need to both understand the field and impress potential clients with your images. The phrase “leap of faith” must be indeli- bly imprinted on the mind of just about every young de- signer who has decided to go it alone with their own label today. FLASHES OF FLASHES OF THE SHADES!
