ers kicked up a row over a Fa-

objection was to the use of the

“celebration of rituals”. Tejasvi

has achieved the
landmark figure of adminis-
tering 100 crore doses to its
people when most countries
doubted its capability to meet
the ambitious target in such a
short time. This is nothing
short of a miracle given the
complex challenges involved:
Vaccines were in short supply
,
arduous terrain was an obsta-
cle in reaching out to the last

was mammoth, removing the
mental block was, and contin-
ues to be, just that, a block that

cine manufacturers, doctors,
nurses and the community
who helped meet the magical
target in nine months through
their concerted efforts. Aware-
nesscampaignsabouthygiene,

As only a small number of
these 100 crore have got both
the doses of the vaccine, the
next challenge would lie in
convincing them to get the
second jab. The much talked
about booster dose will fol-
low next. The government
cannot leave the fight against
Covid-19 halfway through as
the fear of Covid-19 has not
gone away yet. Those of us
who think that a single jab is
good enough, should look at
China which, after adminis-
tering 200 crore jabs, is forced
to fight Covid surge again.
The pandemic is back with a
vengeance in Russia too. The
cases are also rising in Singa-
pore and the UK.
As we celebrate the mo-
mentous events, Prime Min-
ister Narendra Modi’s words
need to be recalled. “The
journey from anxiety to as-
surance has happened…
thanks to the world’s largest
vaccination drive”.

IMRAN KHAN TALKS ABOUT
CIVIL SUPREMACY
PAK PM
AGREES TO
THE ARMY
NOMINEE,
ANJUM, TO
LEAD THE SPY
AGENCY, ISI
he Pakistan Prime Minister,
Imran Khan, once a darling
of the Pakistani dictators,
suddenly heard talking about
the supremacy of the civilian
supremacy, but reports indi-
cate that he finally concedes
to the army’s nominee, Lt
General Nadeem Ahmed An-
jum, to be appointed the new
director general of the Inter-
Services Intelligence (ISI).
Khan, who had conspired
with the present incumbent
in the ISI, Faize Hameed, to
get the 2018 general elections
manipulated in his favour,
has reportedly relented
amidst the reports of an im-
minent martial law. His love
for Faize Hameed could be
traced to the 2018 elections,
when he was the chief of
counterintelligence. During
the past three years, Bajwa-
Imran- Faize nexus has been
ruling Pakistan. Imran has
already awarded the army
chief Qamar Jawed Bajwa
with a three-year extension.
The delay in the notifica-
tion by the Prime Minister’s
Office (PMO) in the appoint-
ment of Anjum has become a
public issue. Earlier, a re-
lease of the Director General
Inter-Services Public Rela-
tions (DG ISPR), issued on
October 6, 2021, had men-
tioned the appointments of
the corps commanders,
which included the name of
the new ISI chief. It was done
due to the transfer of Faize
Hameed as the corps com-
mander of Peshawar. It is
also stated that these ap-
pointments were announced
following a detailed meeting
between Khan and Bajwa.
It appears Khan wanted to
reconsider the new postings,
but the GHQ has refused to
revisit the issue. It is being
stated that Faize Hameed’s
posting was a part of the
chain of new deployments. A
new commander had to be
appointed in place of Anjum,
presently commanding the
Corps V at Karachi. Since
Faize Hameed is aspiring to
become the army chief, he
must have at least one year
of experience as the corps
commander, if Bajwa does
not seek further extension.
Since Faize Hameed had suc-
cessfully conspired against
the then prime minister,
Nawaz Sharif, and his party,
Pakistan Muslim League –
Noon (PML-N) in a number
of false corruption cases. In
2019, he was made the ISI
chief. He is confident that
Khan would appoint him the
army chief, if an opportuni-
ty comes next year.
Some of the senior media
commentators, including
Nazam Sethi, have accused
Khan that he wants a ‘suita-
ble person’ as the ISI chief to
ensure his victory in the
2023 elections. The opposi-
tion led by Maryam, vice-
president of the country’s
main opposition party, PML-
N, has already stated that
“we are not going to endorse
Khan’s futile effort to raise
the issue of civilian suprem-
acy in his on-going differ-
ences with the GHQ.
Meanwhile, there are re-
ports that the delay in the no-
tification is due to the ‘spirit-
ualadvice’of hiswife,Bushra
Bibi. These reports also rule
out the possibility of any dif-
ference between and his men-
tor, Bajwa. They, however, do
not explain why the four cabi-
net ministers of the Khan
government were refused any
discussions on this issue and
asked to go back from the
GHQ at Rawalpindi. The rap-
prochement could happen,
according to informed sourc-
es, following hectic parleys
between the confidants of
Khan and the military estab-
lishment. However, there are
heated debates in the Paki-
stani media that Khan is be-
ing advised on vital issues
related to his government by
his wife, Bushra BIbi, who is
also his spiritual guru. Most
of the decisions, especially
regarding appointments, are
being taken on her advice. It
is stated that she knows black
magic and could control
Djinns in support of Khan.
They were married just six
months before Khan’s eleva-
tion as the prime minister.
Meanwhile, General Anjum
has met Khan to assure his
full support during his tenure
in the spy agency
. Maybe, sat-
isfied with his meeting with
Anjum, he may soon go for
the pilgrimage to the Holy
Mecca with Bushra Bibi. The
Bajwa-Imran-Faiz team has
been working quite smoothly
,
but the delay in the notifica-
tion appears to have caused a
trust deficit in this nexus.

New Delhi: Once upon
a time, it was said for
Congress that the party
was never in Opposi-
tion. That is to say that
it either is in power or
waits for it. The same
thing can now be said
about the BJP and its
leaders are either in
power or waiting to
come to power.
In the states where
BJP has lost elections,
its leaders are not act-
ing like Opposition, but
are waiting to gain pow-
er. Recently, former Ma-
harashtra Chief Minis-
ter Devendra Fadnavis
also said that he still
considers himself as a
Chief Minister. Taking
a jibe at this, Sharad Pa-
war said, “I was Chief
Minister thrice but now
I can’t even remember.”
However, the states
where the BJP lost As-
sembly polls and sat in
Opposition like in Mad-
hya Pradesh and Karna-
taka; the party gradu-
ally bounced back to
form the governments.
In Rajasthan too, the
Congress government
would have fallen and if
the revolt of Sachin Pi-
lot had been successful
last year, it was possible
that there would have
been a BJP government
or a government sup-
ported by BJP. The de-
velopments in these
three states had given
hope to the BJP leaders
of Maharashtra and
Jharkhand that in these
two states also, a BJP
government can be
formed by toppling the
elected government.
But even after two
years, they are still dis-
appointed.
It is not that there is
a lack of efforts in both
the states. Efforts have
been made but without
success as the alliance
in both the states is
strong and the BJP is
far from the required
majority
. So its bets are
not succeeding.
Maharashtra BJP
will have to change the
coalition or make a big
dent in any one party to
form the government,
which is not possible
due to Sharad Pawar
and Uddhav Thackeray
.
That is why the leaders
hoping to become the
CM and minister have
been disappointed.
Sensing their disap-
pointment, in the past,
BJP leader and former
minister Pankaja
Munde advised her par-
ty leaders not to be ob-
sessed with fall of Maha
Vikas Aghadi govern-
ment.
In fact, in Jharkhand
too, an almost similar
situation exists. There
too BJP made several
efforts. After the elec-
tion, Babulal Marandi’s
advisors and close
friends, who were
brought to BJP with a
lot of fanfare, raised the
matter of sexual abuse
of a girl from Maha-
rashtra on the Chief
Minister, in which the
matter reached the Su-
preme Court but noth-
ing happened. A BJP
MP complained to the
Lokpal, on which the
file is lying after pre-
liminary investigation
by the CBI and it is not
being decided to do a
regular FIR. So, the
state BJP leaders are
now getting disappoint-
ed and their hopes of
coming to power with-
out assembly elections
have started shattering.

with great interest by
one and all. Selection
interview, expected to
take place on October
25, will screen over a
dozen short-listed can-
didates in about 180
minutes earmarked for
the purpose.
Taking into account
the transition time of
2-3 minutes between
two successive inter-

utes may be spent on
procedural activities,
leaving about 2.30 hrs
for interaction with the
candidates.
Reportedly, the inter-
view will begin at 2 pm
and conclude by 5 pm.
It is said that the cu-
riosity about the selec-
tion interview has
heightened because of
the short time of about
10-15 minutes sched-
uled for interviewing
each of the shortlisted
candidates versus 35-40
minutes given by the
UPSC for conducting
such interviews.
Officials expected to
be called for interview

New Delhi: Along-
with the festive season
which is on across the
country right now,
election season too
has started, which is
going to last for a
whole year. The entire
next year is going to
be dedicated to elec-
tions as there are mu-
nicipal elections in
Delhi and Mumbai
next year and Assem-
bly elections are going
to be held in 7 states
throughout the year.
Then there are also
biennial elections to
the Rajya Sabha and
elections for the Presi-
dent and Vice Presi-
dent are also to be held
in the middle of 2022.
In this, the dates for
the election of Con-
gress President have
also been fixed. How-
ever, the municipal
and state elections are
being seen as a re-
hearsal for the 2024
Lok Sabha elections,
so it can be guessed
how these elections
will be fought.
At present, by-elec-
tions are going on in a
dozen states of the
country for three Lok
Sabha seats and 30 As-
sembly seats, for
which voting is to be
held on October 30. Lo-
cal bodies elections
are going on in Bihar,
which will run till the
end of November.
Meanwhile, if all goes
well, elections to local
bodies will be held in
West Bengal too.
Moreover, the ‘New
Year’ i.e. 2022 will
start with a big bang.
Assembly elections
will be held in five
states, Uttar Pradesh,
Uttarakhand, Punjab,
Manipur and Goa in
February-March. In
March itself, biennial
elections will be held
for more than 50 seats
in the Rajya Sabha.
Around the same
time, municipal elec-
tions will be held in
Delhi and Mumbai,
which are more im-
portant than assem-

POSTAL REG NO. JPC/010/2019-21
From P1…
But perhaps the high-
light of this develop-
ment was the growing
trust and faith in Rahul
Gandhi towards Ra-
jasthan Health Minister
and Gujarat Incharge
Dr. Raghu Sharma.
Highly placed sources
reveal that while the
three hour long meet-
ing occurred in a for-
mal environment,
Raghu, taking a leap of
faith, extended an in-
vite to Rahul to honour
the group with his pres-
ence over lunch at Ra-
jasthan House. But
what was even more
surprising for this
group was the fact that
Rahul did not ‘dilly-dal-
ly’ and immediately ac-
cepted the invite say-
ing, “I will be there.”
True to his word, Ra-
hul did not made the
leaders wait and
reached in time at Ra-
jasthan House where he
was welcomed by
Raghu Sharma with a
floral bouquet.
In fact, during the
meeting too, Raghu was
seen sitting adjacent to
Rahul as he chaired the
meeting on Gujarat.
Moreover, during the
lunchtoo,theduo‘broke
bread’ as Rahul was
treated to Rajasthani
delicacies like Gatta,
and the former Con-
gress president ap-
peared visibly im-
pressed with Raghu’s
abilitytobringtheparty
as a close knit unit in
merely days since he
was appointed. In turn,
Raghu too appeared im-
mensely confident in
the manner and way he
carried out the role on
Friday, before Rahul
Gandhi.
In fact, the Gujarat
Congress will hold a ma-
jor program under
Raghu’s leadership.
Now there is a certain
section of the Congress
leaders that is trying to
consult astrologers
about Raghu’s horo-
scope and the quick suc-
cession in which he has
jumped the ‘political
ladder’. This group are
surmising whether
Raghu will write a new
‘story’ in Rajasthan or
if he will be elevated to
the post of Rajasthan
PCC Chief too as he is
now being seen as an
upcoming third power
centre in Rajasthan! Al-
though the answers to
these questions lie in
Gehlot’s kitty while un-
perturbed by these lead-
ers and their ‘thinking’,
Raghu is busy in chalk-
ing out the Gujarat ‘re-
vival’ for Congress.
According to sources,
Raghu’s elevation may
not be good news for Pi-
lot camp because in an
ongoing tug of war be-
tween Gehlot and Pilot
camps, Raghu has pub-
licly supported Gehlot’s
stand. Accordingly,
now, Gehlot camp also
feels that Raghu now
may take care of Pilot
factor with the Gan-
dhis.

Whether love ji- had or an advertisement, it is looked at with the narrowness of amindtheonlyobjectiveof which is to deepen the divide. In a recent boutof Hinduism,therightwing- ers kicked up a row over a Fa- bindia advertisement with the tagline “Jashn-e-Riwaaz”. The objection was to the use of the Urdu term which simply means “celebration of rituals”. Tejasvi Surya, the BJP MP from Karna- taka tweeted, “Diwali is not Jashn-e-Riwaaz. This deliberate attempt of abrahamisation of Hindu festivals, depicting Hindu modelswithouttraditionalHindu attires, must be called out.” Does Surya mean that all Hindu wom- en wear a sari on a festival? The BJP MP from Karnataka, Ananthkumar Hegde, finds a tyre ad featuring actor Aamir Khan against bursting of crack- ers on the streets as anti-Hindu, although even devout Hindus point out that there were no fire- crackers to greet Lord Ram on his return to Ayodhya. H century of vac- cines will make October21adateto remember! India has achieved the landmark figure of adminis- tering 100 crore doses to its people when most countries doubted its capability to meet the ambitious target in such a short time. This is nothing short of a miracle given the complex challenges involved: Vaccines were in short supply , arduous terrain was an obsta- cle in reaching out to the last man, logistical requirement was mammoth, removing the mental block was, and contin- ues to be, just that, a block that preventedhesitantpeoplefrom taking the jab. Kudos to vac- cine manufacturers, doctors, nurses and the community who helped meet the magical target in nine months through their concerted efforts. Aware- nesscampaignsabouthygiene, Covid-19protocolandvaccines also played a part. As only a small number of these 100 crore have got both the doses of the vaccine, the next challenge would lie in convincing them to get the second jab. The much talked about booster dose will fol- low next. The government cannot leave the fight against Covid-19 halfway through as the fear of Covid-19 has not gone away yet. Those of us who think that a single jab is good enough, should look at China which, after adminis- tering 200 crore jabs, is forced to fight Covid surge again. The pandemic is back with a vengeance in Russia too. The cases are also rising in Singa- pore and the UK. As we celebrate the mo- mentous events, Prime Min- ister Narendra Modi’s words need to be recalled. “The journey from anxiety to as- surance has happened… thanks to the world’s largest vaccination drive”. A LANDMARK 100 TO REMEMBER Kudos to vaccine manufacturers, doctors, nurses and the community who helped meet the magical target in nine months through their concerted efforts. Awareness campaigns about hygiene, Covid-19 protocol and vaccines also played a part A IMRAN KHAN TALKS ABOUT CIVIL SUPREMACY PAK PM AGREES TO THE ARMY NOMINEE, ANJUM, TO LEAD THE SPY AGENCY, ISI he Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan, once a darling of the Pakistani dictators, suddenly heard talking about the supremacy of the civilian supremacy, but reports indi- cate that he finally concedes to the army’s nominee, Lt General Nadeem Ahmed An- jum, to be appointed the new director general of the Inter- Services Intelligence (ISI). Khan, who had conspired with the present incumbent in the ISI, Faize Hameed, to get the 2018 general elections manipulated in his favour, has reportedly relented amidst the reports of an im- minent martial law. His love for Faize Hameed could be traced to the 2018 elections, when he was the chief of counterintelligence. During the past three years, Bajwa- Imran- Faize nexus has been ruling Pakistan. Imran has already awarded the army chief Qamar Jawed Bajwa with a three-year extension. The delay in the notifica- tion by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in the appoint- ment of Anjum has become a public issue. Earlier, a re- lease of the Director General Inter-Services Public Rela- tions (DG ISPR), issued on October 6, 2021, had men- tioned the appointments of the corps commanders, which included the name of the new ISI chief. It was done due to the transfer of Faize Hameed as the corps com- mander of Peshawar. It is also stated that these ap- pointments were announced following a detailed meeting between Khan and Bajwa. It appears Khan wanted to reconsider the new postings, but the GHQ has refused to revisit the issue. It is being stated that Faize Hameed’s posting was a part of the chain of new deployments. A new commander had to be appointed in place of Anjum, presently commanding the Corps V at Karachi. Since Faize Hameed is aspiring to become the army chief, he must have at least one year of experience as the corps commander, if Bajwa does not seek further extension. Since Faize Hameed had suc- cessfully conspired against the then prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, and his party, Pakistan Muslim League – Noon (PML-N) in a number of false corruption cases. In 2019, he was made the ISI chief. He is confident that Khan would appoint him the army chief, if an opportuni- ty comes next year. Some of the senior media commentators, including Nazam Sethi, have accused Khan that he wants a ‘suita- ble person’ as the ISI chief to ensure his victory in the 2023 elections. The opposi- tion led by Maryam, vice- president of the country’s main opposition party, PML- N, has already stated that “we are not going to endorse Khan’s futile effort to raise the issue of civilian suprem- acy in his on-going differ- ences with the GHQ. Meanwhile, there are re- ports that the delay in the no- tification is due to the ‘spirit- ualadvice’of hiswife,Bushra Bibi. These reports also rule out the possibility of any dif- ference between and his men- tor, Bajwa. They, however, do not explain why the four cabi- net ministers of the Khan government were refused any discussions on this issue and asked to go back from the GHQ at Rawalpindi. The rap- prochement could happen, according to informed sourc- es, following hectic parleys between the confidants of Khan and the military estab- lishment. However, there are heated debates in the Paki- stani media that Khan is be- ing advised on vital issues related to his government by his wife, Bushra BIbi, who is also his spiritual guru. Most of the decisions, especially regarding appointments, are being taken on her advice. It is stated that she knows black magic and could control Djinns in support of Khan. They were married just six months before Khan’s eleva- tion as the prime minister. Meanwhile, General Anjum has met Khan to assure his full support during his tenure in the spy agency . Maybe, sat- isfied with his meeting with Anjum, he may soon go for the pilgrimage to the Holy Mecca with Bushra Bibi. The Bajwa-Imran-Faiz team has been working quite smoothly , but the delay in the notifica- tion appears to have caused a trust deficit in this nexus. That is to say that it either is in power or waits for it. The same thing can now be said about the BJP and its leaders are either in power or waiting to come to power. In the states where BJP has lost elections, its leaders are not act- ing like Opposition, but are waiting to gain pow- er. Recently, former Ma- harashtra Chief Minis- ter Devendra Fadnavis also said that he still considers himself as a Chief Minister. Taking a jibe at this, Sharad Pa- war said, “I was Chief Minister thrice but now I can’t even remember.” However, the states where the BJP lost As- sembly polls and sat in Opposition like in Mad- hya Pradesh and Karna- taka; the party gradu- ally bounced back to form the governments. In Rajasthan too, the Congress government would have fallen and if the revolt of Sachin Pi- lot had been successful last year, it was possible that there would have been a BJP government or a government sup- ported by BJP. The de- velopments in these three states had given hope to the BJP leaders of Maharashtra and Jharkhand that in these two states also, a BJP government can be formed by toppling the elected government. But even after two years, they are still dis- appointed. It is not that there is a lack of efforts in both the states. Efforts have been made but without success as the alliance in both the states is strong and the BJP is far from the required majority . So its bets are not succeeding. Maharashtra BJP will have to change the coalition or make a big dent in any one party to form the government, which is not possible due to Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray . That is why the leaders hoping to become the CM and minister have been disappointed. Sensing their disap- pointment, in the past, BJP leader and former minister Pankaja Munde advised her par- ty leaders not to be ob- sessed with fall of Maha Vikas Aghadi govern- ment. In fact, in Jharkhand too, an almost similar situation exists. There too BJP made several efforts. After the elec- tion, Babulal Marandi’s advisors and close friends, who were brought to BJP with a lot of fanfare, raised the matter of sexual abuse of a girl from Maha- rashtra on the Chief Minister, in which the matter reached the Su- preme Court but noth- ing happened. A BJP MP complained to the Lokpal, on which the file is lying after pre- liminary investigation by the CBI and it is not being decided to do a regular FIR. So, the state BJP leaders are now getting disappoint- ed and their hopes of coming to power with- out assembly elections have started shattering. Rakesh Ranjan New Delhi: The pub- lic-sector headhunter’s (PESB) selection of a Managing Director of Hospital Services Con- sultancy Corporation (India) Limited (HSCC), a subsidiary of NBCC India Limit- ed, may be watched with great interest by one and all. Selection interview, expected to take place on October 25, will screen over a dozen short-listed can- didates in about 180 minutes earmarked for the purpose. Taking into account the transition time of 2-3 minutes between two successive inter- views, over 30-40 min- utes may be spent on procedural activities, leaving about 2.30 hrs for interaction with the candidates. Reportedly, the inter- view will begin at 2 pm and conclude by 5 pm. It is said that the cu- riosity about the selec- tion interview has heightened because of the short time of about 10-15 minutes sched- uled for interviewing each of the shortlisted candidates versus 35-40 minutes given by the UPSC for conducting such interviews. Officials expected to be called for interview are Yogesh Sharma (Senior ED, NBCC In- dia Limited); Manas Kaviraj (ED, NBCC); Mahesh Chand Bansal (ED, NBCC); K P Ma- hadevswamy (ED, NBCC); Pawan Kumar (ED, NBCC); Reshma Dudani (ED, NBCC); Sanjay Singal (Senior ED, WAPCOS); Sanjay Goel (Group GM, Engi- neering Projects India Limited); Pradip Ku- mar Srivastava (Chief Engineer, BSNL; Ra- jasekar T (Director HLL Life Care); Vijay Garg (ED Railways) and Rakesh Kumar Gupta (Chief Engineer, Rail- ways). It may be underlined that the post of HSCC (India) MD has been va- cant since August this year. Presently, Suresh Chandra Garg is hold- ing the charge of MD. The selected candi- date will replace Gyanesh Pandey who completed his term on his retirement in July this year. Anita Hada New Delhi: Along- with the festive season which is on across the country right now, election season too has started, which is going to last for a whole year. The entire next year is going to be dedicated to elec- tions as there are mu- nicipal elections in Delhi and Mumbai next year and Assem- bly elections are going to be held in 7 states throughout the year. Then there are also biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha and elections for the Presi- dent and Vice Presi- dent are also to be held in the middle of 2022. In this, the dates for the election of Con- gress President have also been fixed. How- ever, the municipal and state elections are being seen as a re- hearsal for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, so it can be guessed how these elections will be fought. At present, by-elec- tions are going on in a dozen states of the country for three Lok Sabha seats and 30 As- sembly seats, for which voting is to be held on October 30. Lo- cal bodies elections are going on in Bihar, which will run till the end of November. Meanwhile, if all goes well, elections to local bodies will be held in West Bengal too. Moreover, the ‘New Year’ i.e. 2022 will start with a big bang. Assembly elections will be held in five states, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa in February-March. In March itself, biennial elections will be held for more than 50 seats in the Rajya Sabha. Around the same time, municipal elec- tions will be held in Delhi and Mumbai, which are more im- portant than assem- bly elections in many states. Soon after this notification for the post of President and Vice President will be issued. Elections for both the top posts will be held in July. After that the Assembly elections of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh will be held at the end of the year. Meanwhile, election of Congress President is also to be held in August-September. Highly placed sources reveal that while the three hour long meet- ing occurred in a for- mal environment, Raghu, taking a leap of faith, extended an in- vite to Rahul to honour the group with his pres- ence over lunch at Ra- jasthan House. But what was even more surprising for this group was the fact that Rahul did not ‘dilly-dal- ly’ and immediately ac- cepted the invite say- ing, “I will be there.” True to his word, Ra- hul did not made the leaders wait and reached in time at Ra- jasthan House where he was welcomed by Raghu Sharma with a floral bouquet. In fact, during the meeting too, Raghu was seen sitting adjacent to Rahul as he chaired the meeting on Gujarat. In turn, Raghu too appeared im- mensely confident in the manner and way he carried out the role on Friday, before Rahul Gandhi. In fact, the Gujarat Congress will hold a ma- jor program under Raghu’s leadership. Now there is a certain section of the Congress leaders that is trying to consult astrologers about Raghu’s horo- scope and the quick suc- cession in which he has jumped the ‘political ladder’. This group are surmising whether Raghu will write a new ‘story’ in Rajasthan or if he will be elevated to the post of Rajasthan PCC Chief too as he is now being seen as an upcoming third power centre in Rajasthan!
