mentary seats of Azam-
garh and Rampur on June
23. The counting of votes
will take place on June 26.

AFTER SUNIL JAKHAR AND HARDIK
PATEL, NOW IT IS KAPIL SIBAL’S TURN
In this way, now Congress itself implements Modi-Shah’s ‘Congress-Mukt Bharat’ agenda
I had a deep relation
with Congress. It
was for 30-31 years.
This is not a small thing.
I joined Congress
because of Rajivji. You
must be thinking, how
one can go from the
Congress after 31 years.
There must be
something (for
leaving).. that my heart
is facing. Sometimes
such decisions are to
be taken. I am not far
away from the Con-
gress and its ideology. I
am with the sentiments
of the party
We want to make a
coalition and
oppose the Modi govt.
We want to create an
atmosphere in which
we can oppose the BJP.
I will personally work
towards that
I am with all-inclu-
sive ideologies. Be
it of the SP, RLD,
Mamataji or Stalin
Kapil Sibal is
a senior lead-
er and a
known lawyer. He had
been in the Lok Sabha
and Rajya Sabha and
put his point across
well everywhere. I
hope he will put his
views on big questions
of unemployment and
inflation, insecure
borders and China.

“HOW’S THE PRASAD,
MR SIBAL?”: PRASADA
New Delhi: UP Minister Jitin Prasada, who quit
Cong joined BJP in June last year just before
Assembly polls, on Wednesday
found an opportunity to troll
Sibal, nearly a year after Sibal
- who himself left the Congress
- tweeted a swipe at Sibal for
joining rival party. Prasada was
Cong’s top Brahmin face in UP
once close to Rahul. The day Prasada bade farewell
to Cong, Sibal had tweeted, “Jitin Prasada joins BJP.
Question is will he get ‘prasada’ from BJP or is he
just a ‘catch’ for UP polls? In such deals if ‘ideology’
doesn’t matter changeover is easy,” Sibal tweeted.
Kapil Sibal files his nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections, with the support of SP, in presence of
party chief Akhilesh Yadav and party MP Ram Gopal Yadav, in Lucknow on Wednesday.

grand old party maybe
just to get the Rajya Sab-

again failed to work out
some suitable strategy
to check the outgoing
Congress leaders. At
this point, senior Con-
gress leaders still re-

one more such incident.

have erupted in Sri-

court awarded life imprisonment to him, police said.
Minutes after a court sentenced Kashmiri separa-

a meeting to decide on increasing security and keeping
closer watch on the inmate. The jail authorities have
decided to keep the terror convict under maximum

Ashwini Kumar Choubey, a
veteran BJP leader from Bi-
har, shares with us how PM
Modi, who was the CM of Gu-
jarat in 2013, came to his fam-
ily’s rescue when they were
stranded amidst nature’s fury
atKedarnath.Hetellsusabout
how Modiji left no stone un-
turned to rescue him and his
family who were then inside
the sanctum sanctorum of the
Kedarnath temple and he lay
unconscious there. Modiji
kept the rescue work on for
several hours and did every-
thing in his power to help
those stuck within the temple.
On June 16, 2013, I reached
Patna after attending the
working committee meeting
in Goa, and from there, along
with my family
, left for Kedar-
nath. We knew that the situa-
tion in Kedarnath was not
ordinary as it had been rain-
ing continuously for 3 days. I
called up the District Magis-
trate at Rudraprayag and he
said that the situation was
quite grim as landslides had
blocked roads at several plac-
es. He also said that it would
take a couple of days for them
to meet me.
Even as we were having a
conversation, I received a call
from Narendra bhai. He
asked about my whereabouts
and I told him I was in Kedar-
nath and that the situation
there seemed rather terrify-
ing and that I had a feeling of
impending doom. As Modiji
hung up, I received a call
from a journalist in Patna. As
we were conversing, I heard
the deafening roar of a disas-
ter. It was as if a thousand
dynamites had gone off all at
once and the lone candle
burning on the table since
morning as there was no elec-
tricity, was blown off. It was
pitch dark. My sons Arjit and
Aviral and my son-in-law
Subodh were sitting around
the table with me and my
youngest son said “Papaji I
think it’s an earthquake.”
The sounds of nature were
ear-shattering
and I could
hear nothing then. Suddenly,
I was floating in water up to
my chest. The entire room
seemed to be engulfed in wa-
ter and my entire family was
deep in water. We could hard-
ly hear or see each other.
I was overwhelmed
and
overcome with emotion. We
had just offered our prayers at
theJagadgurushrineandnow
I could see our revered statue
of LordShivaimmersedinthe
deluge. People, houses, and
animals, all were being swept
awayinthedevastatingfloods.
The devotees were jostling in
the water to somehow stay
afloat.Itseemedasif theheav-
ens had torn asunder as we
saw the house where the devo-
tees were standing moments
ago, being swept away in the
flash floods. Those three days,
June 16th, 17th and 18th have
leftanindelibleimpressionon
me because we, along with
scores of people, spent those
days within the seer’s sama-
dhi. In the evening of June
18th we heard sound of heli-
copters from Bhata, but we
knew nothing was possible
because of the unprecedented
devastation we could witness
all around.
On 20th June, we received
a call from the National Con-
venor and we then tried to
establish contact with Naren-
dra bhai. When Modiji called,
I was not in a position to
speak because of exhaustion.
My son Arjit spoke with him
as he inquired about our
whereabouts, our health and
the condition of all the people
around us. Modiji was anx-
ious not just for us but for all
the people who were stranded
and dying. He spoke in great
detail with Arjit and after
taking in the minutest de-
tails, he comforted my son
that everything would be al-
right. He would inform Suni-
lji and tell him to arrange for
help as soon as possible. He
also said he would speak with
the CM of Uttarakhand, Ba-
hugunaji to send for rescue
and in case, there is still any
hindrance in the rescue op-
eration, Narendrabhai
as-
sured my son that he would
send a helicopter from Guja-
rat for our safe and quick res-
cue. He went to the extent of
saying that he himself would
reach Kedarnath to protect
us. Such words of assurances
and promises went a long way
in comforting our family and
in raising hopes of getting
another day to live and serve
the people of our country
.
I can never forget how deep-
ly Narendra bhai was touched
by the plight of thousands
devastated by the floods. His
mind was constantly focused
on ways and means to send
across relief to the victims
and the first-hand-experie
nc-
es narrated by Arjit had a
deep impact on Narendrab-
hai’s psyche. In his heart, he
simply wanted to be present
in-person to render help to the
affected people. Although he
was the CM of Gujarat at that
time, but his heart went out to
each one of his countrymen
who were suffering the wrath
of nature. Only a true leader,
a great statesman can feel and
think of the common man in
such a way
.
While I was hospitalised, I
heard him asking how as the
CM of Gujarat he could be of
help in a disaster of such a
great magnitude and assured
of all the help from the Guja-
rat government to bring re-
lief to people. I was so full of
emotion and touched by these
words and I thought, Naren-
dra bhai is no ordinary man.
He is a man with a vision
who’s priority is not just his
state, but the country, and
now it’s not just the country
but the entire world.
He was never constrained
by boundaries and this vast-
ness of spirit and the magna-
nimity of heart that he dis-
plays, it is a result of his
bhakti. He is a spiritually
evolved leader and this is his
greatest shakti. How this
shakti is manifesting itself
by protecting our country is
for one and all to see and ex-
perience!.

‘DON’T JUST EXPECT DIGNIFIED
BEHAVIOUR, PRACTICE IT AS WELL’
First India Bureau
Lucknow: “Don’t just
expect dignified be-
haviour, also practice it
to uphold the dignity of
the House”, CM Yogi
told the leader of the op-
position Akhilesh Ya-
dav on the third day of
theUPassemblysession
on Wednesday following
a squabble between the
latter and Deputy Chief
MinisterKeshav Prasad
Maurya.
CM Yogi also ap-
pealed to the Speaker of
the Assembly to ex-
punge the statement
made by the leader of
the opposition from the
house proceedings as “it
sets a bad precedent”.
He remarked that
such incidents tarnish
the reputation of the
entire house. Urging
Yadav to restrain his
anger, the Chief Minis-
ter told him that it was
not right on his part to
make running com-
mentary and issue
threats when the depu-
ty chief minister was
speaking and that he
should have waited un-
til Maurya finished his
speech.
“A govt, whether
yours or ours, has the
right to talk about its
achievements. And the
deputy CM was abso-
lutely right.
Besides, he is deputy
chief minister for the
second time in a row
and is the senior most
leader in the govern-
ment. You might not
agree with what he said,
but you should have at
least shown the patience
to listen to him.
You can always ques-
tion the government
whenyourturncomes”,
he said. He added, “I
was watching yester-
day also and was
shocked to hear the
kind of language some
members used against
the finance minister
when he stood up to
speak. It’s not done in a
healthy democracy. Ev-
ery member of the
house has the right to
voice his or her views’’.

Lucknow: Yogi Adi-
tyanath-led UP govt is
promoting organic
farming and afforesta-
tion along the banks of
the Ganga in order to
make the river cleaner,
free of pollution
caused by chemical fer-
tilisers and toxic pesti-
cides and ensure its
uninterrupted flow.
Moving a step fur-
ther from the initiative
launched in this regard
during its first term,
the government seeks
to encourage organic
farming within a radi-
us of 10 km on both the
banks in 27 districts
through which the
Ganga passes in the
state.
The govt has set af-
forestation target on
6759 hectares along the
banks of Ganga, spread
over 503 places in dif-
ferent districts through
which the river Ganga
flows in the next six
months.
This will not only
help in increasing the
forest cover and im-
proving climate, but
also prevent soil ero-
sion reducing severity
of floods in these areas.
The government has
already launched plan-
tation drive in Kasganj
and some other areas
in this context.
The maximum area
of organic farming in
Uttar Pradesh falls in
the Gangetic plains
only. The state govt has
also planned intensive
afforestation drive not
only along the banks of
Ganga but also along
the banks of its tribu-
taries. It aims to plant
saplings of medicinal,
rare and traditional
plants along the banks
of river Ganga and its
tributaries.

Sibal says goodbye to Congress
Lucknow: Senior Con-

Sibal, a former union
minister, quitting the
party came as a surprise
to many but was a fore-
gone conclusion. The
veteran leader who was
a prominent member of
the Group of 23 (G-23),
was feeling left alone
after three other senior
G-23 leaders Ghulam
Nabi Azad, Anand
Sharma, and P Chidam-
baram made peace with
the Gandhi family with
an eye on grabbing party
tickets for the upcoming
Rajya Sabha biennial
elections. The G-23 had
raised the voice for a
leadership change in the
party in August 2020
and was demanding
the restructuring of the
party by holding internal
elections. However,
Azad, Sharma, and Chi-
dambaram fell in line
and declared that they
were not against the
party’s interim president
Sonia Gandhi. Sibal
was reportedly feeling
betrayed by them. Sibal,
whose term in RS ends
July 4 was left with no
choice but to look for
his options. However,
with the Congress party
coming up with a dismal
performance in March
assembly polls in UP by
winning just two seats,

said a man named Sunil Tripathi who calls himself a social

had lodged his complaint on May 8, accusing Tripathi
of extorting Rs 10 lakh by threatening to defame him by
false propaganda, the SP said. The case was lodged at

Ashwini Kumar Choubey, a
veteran BJP leader from Bi-
har, shares with us how PM
Modi, who was the CM of Gu-
jarat in 2013, came to his fam-
ily’s rescue when they were
stranded amidst nature’s fury
atKedarnath.Hetellsusabout
how Modiji left no stone un-
turned to rescue him and his
family who were then inside
the sanctum sanctorum of the
Kedarnath temple and he lay
unconscious there. Modiji
kept the rescue work on for
several hours and did every-
thing in his power to help
those stuck within the temple.
On June 16, 2013, I reached
Patna after attending the
working committee meeting
in Goa, and from there, along
with my family
, left for Kedar-
nath. We knew that the situa-
tion in Kedarnath was not
ordinary as it had been rain-
ing continuously for 3 days. I
called up the District Magis-
trate at Rudraprayag and he
said that the situation was
quite grim as landslides had
blocked roads at several plac-
es. He also said that it would
take a couple of days for them
to meet me.
Even as we were having a
conversation, I received a call
from Narendra bhai. He
asked about my whereabouts
and I told him I was in Kedar-
nath and that the situation
there seemed rather terrify-
ing and that I had a feeling of
impending doom. As Modiji
hung up, I received a call
from a journalist in Patna. As
we were conversing, I heard
the deafening roar of a disas-
ter. It was as if a thousand
dynamites had gone off all at
once and the lone candle
burning on the table since
morning as there was no elec-
tricity, was blown off. It was
pitch dark. My sons Arjit and
Aviral and my son-in-law
Subodh were sitting around
the table with me and my
youngest son said “Papaji I
think it’s an earthquake.”
The sounds of nature were
ear-shattering and I could
hear nothing then. Suddenly,
I was floating in water up to
my chest. The entire room
seemed to be engulfed in wa-
ter and my entire family was
deep in water. We could hard-
ly hear or see each other.
I was overwhelmed and
overcome with emotion. We
had just offered our prayers at
theJagadgurushrineandnow
I could see our revered statue
of LordShivaimmersedinthe
deluge. People, houses, and
animals, all were being swept
awayinthedevastatingfloods.
The devotees were jostling in
the water to somehow stay
afloat.Itseemedasif theheav-
ens had torn asunder as we
saw the house where the devo-
tees were standing moments
ago, being swept away in the
flash floods. Those three days,
June 16th, 17th and 18th have
leftanindelibleimpressionon
me because we, along with
scores of people, spent those
days within the seer’s sama-
dhi. In the evening of June
18th we heard sound of heli-
copters from Bhata, but we
knew nothing was possible
because of the unprecedented
devastation we could witness
all around.
On 20th June, we received
a call from the National Con-
venor and we then tried to
establish contact with Naren-
dra bhai. When Modiji called,
I was not in a position to
speak because of exhaustion.
My son Arjit spoke with him
as he inquired about our
whereabouts, our health and
the condition of all the people
around us. Modiji was anx-
ious not just for us but for all
the people who were stranded
and dying. He spoke in great
detail with Arjit and after
taking in the minutest de-
tails, he comforted my son
that everything would be al-
right. He would inform Suni-
lji and tell him to arrange for
help as soon as possible. He
also said he would speak with
the CM of Uttarakhand, Ba-
hugunaji to send for rescue
and in case, there is still any
hindrance in the rescue op-
eration, Narendrabhai as-
sured my son that he would
send a helicopter from Guja-
rat for our safe and quick res-
cue. He went to the extent of
saying that he himself would
reach Kedarnath to protect
us. Such words of assurances
and promises went a long way
in comforting our family and
in raising hopes of getting
another day to live and serve
the people of our country
.
I can never forget how deep-
ly Narendra bhai was touched
by the plight of thousands
devastated by the floods. His
mind was constantly focused
on ways and means to send
across relief to the victims
and the first-hand-experienc-
es narrated by Arjit had a
deep impact on Narendrab-
hai’s psyche. In his heart, he
simply wanted to be present
in-person to render help to the
affected people. Although he
was the CM of Gujarat at that
time, but his heart went out to
each one of his countrymen
who were suffering the wrath
of nature. Only a true leader,
a great statesman can feel and
think of the common man in
such a way
.
While I was hospitalised, I
heard him asking how as the
CM of Gujarat he could be of
help in a disaster of such a
great magnitude and assured
of all the help from the Guja-
rat government to bring re-
lief to people. I was so full of
emotion and touched by these
words and I thought, Naren-
dra bhai is no ordinary man.
He is a man with a vision
who’s priority is not just his
state, but the country, and
now it’s not just the country
but the entire world.
He was never constrained
by boundaries and this vast-
ness of spirit and the magna-
nimity of heart that he dis-
plays, it is a result of his
bhakti. He is a spiritually
evolved leader and this is his
greatest shakti. How this
shakti is manifesting itself
by protecting our country is
for one and all to see and ex-
perience!.

Patna: Bihar Chief
Minister Nitish Ku-
mar is in no hurry to
make a political move.
For the past one week,
there has been a ruck-
us about the things
that have happened in
Patna.
The first and biggest
issue is whether or not
Nitish Kumar will give
a Rajya Sabha ticket to
the Union Minister
and his ‘special war-
lord’ RCP Singh? The
second question is,
will Nitish break away
from BJP and recon-
cile with RJD? Both
the issues are very se-
rious and have far-
reaching political im-
plications, however,
Nitish is not taking
any decision in a hur-
ry. He is maintaining
his distance from RCP
and despite this, it is
not final he will cut
RCP’s ticket.
On the other hand,
Tejashwi Yadav has
been roaming in Lon-
don for a week. If there
is to be a change of
power in Bihar and the
events are changing
quickly, he should
have been in Patna.
But he was away from
Patna, so questions
are being raised on the
possibility of change
of power.
Still, whatever deci-
sion Nitish Kumar has
to take, he will take it
after the all-party
meeting on caste cen-
sus to be held this
week. The Bharatiya
Janata Party has made
it clear that it is not in
favor of the caste cen-
sus, but the party will
not oppose it in Bihar.
If the BJP did not
participate in the all-
party meeting or
raised questions on it,
then it could be a mat-
ter of separation for
Nitish Kumar and all
the parties like RJD,
JDU, Congress, Left,
LJP, Hum, VIP will
come together. If this
happens then BJP will
be isolated.
Nitish has proposed
an all-party meeting
on Friday i.e. May 27
and the last date for fil-
ing nominations for
the Rajya Sabha is
May 30. So whatever
decision Nitish will
take, it is likely to hap-
pen only after May 27,
before which Tejashwi
will also reach Patna.
Will Nitish wait to strike on BJP after all party meet?

the last option.
As per the sources,

Clue from drunk friend helps Noida cops nab killers
Noida (PTI): Leads
from a drunk friend --
who partially remem-
bered the registration
number and colour of a
motorcycle -- helped the
Noida police catch the
killers of a 23-year-old
man who was beaten to
death with a concrete
brick here on May 14,
officials said.
In what appeared to
be a case of road rage
that took place during
night hours on an isolat-
ed road stretch, the po-
lice were left with no
clue about the culprits,
even as CCTV footage
proved to be little help
for officials investigat-
ing the murder.
Abhay Tyagi, a resi-
dent of Bhangel under
Phase 2 police station
limits, was returning
home with two friends.
All of them were drunk
when they got into a
fight with three uniden-
tified men who were
coming on two motorcy-
cles. An argument
broke out between
them, leading to Tyagi’s
death after which the
trio fled, officials said.
Two of the accused
were arrested by the po-
lice on Tuesday, they
said. “When the police
launched the investiga-
tion, there was no clue
about the culprits. How-
ever, one of the drunk
friends of Tyagi told
police that he could re-
member the number of
one of the motorcycles
on which the assailants
had come,” Additional
Deputy Commissioner
of Police (Central Noi-
da) Elamaran G told
PTI. “The friend could
remember only half of
the number UP 16 CH
and could not recall the
last four digits and that
the motorcycle was
black in colour. We have
tried analyzing CCTV
footage of nearby areas
also but to no avail.
There was no other
clue or leads which
seemed workable. So we
went around tracing
the only lead we had,”
the officer said. The po-
lice then filtered out
two-wheelers registered
under UP 16 (Gautam
Buddh Nagar) followed
by the code CH and fur-
ther zeroed down to fig-
ure out the motorcycles
owned by people living
in Bhangel and nearby
villages like Gejha and
Salarpur.
Both accused
have been
booked under
IPC section
302, while their
third associate
is absconding
but searches
are underway

Wednesday. Divisional

cass was found at 4.30
pm on Tuesday.
“No parts of the ti-
ger’s body is missing.
Porcupine quills were
found in its chest near
the neck. It is suspect-
ed that the tiger tried
to hunt a porcupine
and died due to the in-
juries it sustained in
the struggle,” the offi-
cer said. Badhawan
said as per standard
operating procedures
issued by the National
Tiger Conservation
Agency, a panel of vet-
erinarians would con-
duct an autopsy on
Wednesday in the pres-
ence of senior officials.
The exact cause of
the tiger’s death will be
known after that, he
added. There are about
35 tigers in the Katarni-
aghat Wildlife Division.

CONGRESS CONTINUES TO SHRINK
AS LONE MEMBER KAPIL SIBAL RESIGNS FROM PARTY, NOW THE REPRESENTATION
OF CONGRESS IN THE RAJYA SABHA FROM UTTAR PRADESH QUOTA HAS ENDED
Gyanendra Kumar Shukla
Lucknow: Congress’s
woes in UP seem to be
almost unending. Kapil
Sibal, an influential
member of Congress’s
internal pressure group
G-23, has given a double
blow to the party
. On the
one hand, he has made a
public announcement to
resign from the Con-
gress party
, on the other
hand, now the represen-
tationof Congressinthe
RajyaSabhafromtheUP
quota has ended. Not
onlythis,therepresenta-
tion of Congress in the
Upper House of UP is
also going to end in July
.
Notably
, 31 members
of Rajya Sabha are elect-
ed from UP
, out of which
11 members are going to
retire in the month of
July
. Congress leader-
cum-advocate Kapil
Sibal is also included in
this list. Till now, Sibal
used to be the only Rajya
Sabha member of Con-
gress from UP
. In the re-
cently concluded assem-
bly polls, the Congress
has reached the lowest
levelintermsof number
of members. Only two
candidates of this party
,
which got only 2.5 per-
cent vote share, could
win the election. Given
the strength of the
MLAs, support of 37
MLAswillberequiredto
get a single Rajya Sabha
seat from UP
. In such a
situation, the Congress
does not even have the
option of fielding any
candidate for the Rajya
Sabha elections. It is
clearthatwiththedepar-
ture of Sibal, the repre-
sentation of Congress in
Rajya Sabha from UP
has become zero.
Moreover, not only in
the Upper House of Par-
liament, but also in the
Upper House of Uttar
Pradesh, the Congress is
going to face the same
dismal situation. At pre-
sent,DeepakSinghisthe
only member of Con-
gress left in the Legisla-
tive Council. His term
ends July 6, 2022.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi (L) and Kapil Sibal (R).
MOTILAL NEHRU
FIRST MEMBER
As the first member of
the Congress in Upper
House, Motilal Nehru
took the membership of
the Legislative Council
on Feb 7, 1909. Till 1989,
the Congress dominated
the council. For the last
3 decades, Congress’s
influence in the state’s
assembly has shrunk, as
a result the oldest party’s
aura in the Legislative
Council also dimmed and
now after a lone member,
the party is moving
towards zero representa-
tion in Upper House.

She, along her sister,
Priti, 17, and her moth-

her house looking for
her brother, accused of
running away with a

Apparently, the wom-

ing that a man, Prince,
had eloped with his
daughter.
The police had con-

the woman were stay-

During the raid,
Prince’s mother and
two sisters had con-

Jadaun said.
The SP said that po-
lice had raided the
house in presence of
the villagers, and did
not misbehave with the
family members.
“Prima facie the po-
lice team that raided
the house has not been
found guilty for the in-

he year 2022 would be
the year of periwin-
kle: a soft, soothing
shade-giving baby
blanket vibes. Maybe
we could have used a
swaddling palette af-
ter the past two tur-
bulent years, but
the breakout col-
our trend of 2022
couldn’t be far-
ther away in spir-
it. It turns out
fashion de-
signers wanted something
brighter, bolder, and more en-
ergetic: They wanted hot pink
and dynamic blue.
As we attempt to break down
why we wear what we wear,
and codify the qualities of dif-
ferent garments, it’s worth
starting with colour. An al-
ready well-established notion,
colour psychology looks at the
moods, qualities and emotions
associated with the shades of
Pink and Blue.
In the 21st century, the style
trends of the fashion industry
dominate the world more than
they ever did and control not
only the way people dress but
also trends in homeware de-
sign, makeup fashion and peo-
ple’s overall attitudes. In the
60s flower power did not only
mean flares and tunics, but it
also summed up the whole at-
titude of a generation, and this
is even more prominent today
.
Nowadays, fashion is bold
and daring, and this reflects a
noughties generation that is
not afraid to say what they
think or wear what they want.
Celebrating life’s special oc-
casions is one of the most joy-
ous things in the world. When
it comes to fashion, this means
wearing something that you
love and something that ex-
presses who you are. Fash-
ion photography is a
popular photog-
raphy genre,
but it is also
highly competitive. Under-
standing the different types
of fashion photography can
give you the edge you need
to both understand the field
and impress potential cli-
ents with your images.
The phrase “leap of
faith” must be indeli-
bly imprinted on the
mind of just about
every young de-
signer who has
decided to go it
alone with their
own label
today.

  • 1. TRILLION-DOLLAR TARGET Yogi govt’s mega budget today with eye on 2024 First India Bureau Lucknow: As Yogi 2.0 government gears up to present its first full pa- perless budget 2022-23 on Thursday, all eyes areonthebigannounce- ments that finance min- ister Suresh Khanna is expected to make. The ruling BJP per- ceives this budget as opportunity to lay the template for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Hence, apart from focus on key promises like providing free electric- ity and irrigation facili- ties to farmers, the Yogi government, according to sources, may seek to accentuate the budget- ary size for various so- cialsphereprogrammes and various key devel- opmental projects, in- cluding expressways, metro rail projects, air- ports, and establish- ment of medical colleg- es in various districts. Billed as one of the biggest, theestimatedRs 6.10 lakh crore budget willputUPonthewayto becoming a trillion-dol- lar economy by giving a push to exports and in- frastructure. It will also focus on farmers, em- ployment generation, and medical health, ac- cording to Khanna. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna signs on the Budget 2022-23 in Lko on Wednesday, in presence of Finance Commissioner ACS Prashant Trivedi. First India Bureau Prayagraj: The Alla- habad High Court on Wednesday quashed the FIR registered against Siddharth Varadarajan, found- ing editor of ‘The Wire’, and Ismat Ara, the reporter of the on- line news portal. The FIR was lodged under sections 153B (imputations, asser- tions prejudicial to national integration) and 505(2) (statements creating or promoting enmity between class- es) of IPC for tweets of the report on Navreet Singh Dib- dibiya (farm law pro- testor who died dur- ing the protest in Del- hi). While quashing the FIR, a division bench of Justices Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Rajnish Kumar ob- served, “The report was giving the ver- sion of the family of the victim that he had died of bullet injuries. The Rampur police lodged the FIR alleg- ing that the petition- ers sought to ‘provoke the masses, spread riot, tarnish the im- age of medical offic- ers involved in post mortem of the de- ceased’.” The bench said that nothing was brought before the court to indicate that there was any distur- bance or riot on ac- count of the publica- tion of news/ tweet of the petitioners. HC QUASHES POLICE FIR AGAINST VARADARJAN, ISMAT ARA BYPOLL ON JUNE 23 FOR RAMPUR, AZAMGARH Lucknow: The Election Commission on Wednes- day released the schedule for bypolls to two parlia- mentary seats of Azam- garh and Rampur on June 23. The counting of votes will take place on June 26. The constituencies were represented by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and his party colleague Azam Khan. While Yadav got elected to the assem- bly from Karhal, Khan won the elections from Rampur assembly seat. AFTER SUNIL JAKHAR AND HARDIK PATEL, NOW IT IS KAPIL SIBAL’S TURN In this way, now Congress itself implements Modi-Shah’s ‘Congress-Mukt Bharat’ agenda I had a deep relation with Congress. It was for 30-31 years. This is not a small thing. I joined Congress because of Rajivji. You must be thinking, how one can go from the Congress after 31 years. There must be something (for leaving).. that my heart is facing. Sometimes such decisions are to be taken. I am not far away from the Con- gress and its ideology. I am with the sentiments of the party We want to make a coalition and oppose the Modi govt. We want to create an atmosphere in which we can oppose the BJP. I will personally work towards that I am with all-inclu- sive ideologies. Be it of the SP, RLD, Mamataji or Stalin Kapil Sibal is a senior lead- er and a known lawyer. He had been in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and put his point across well everywhere. I hope he will put his views on big questions of unemployment and inflation, insecure borders and China. —Akhilesh Yadav, SP supremo “HOW’S THE PRASAD, MR SIBAL?”: PRASADA New Delhi: UP Minister Jitin Prasada, who quit Cong joined BJP in June last year just before Assembly polls, on Wednesday found an opportunity to troll Sibal, nearly a year after Sibal - who himself left the Congress - tweeted a swipe at Sibal for joining rival party. Prasada was Cong’s top Brahmin face in UP once close to Rahul. The day Prasada bade farewell to Cong, Sibal had tweeted, “Jitin Prasada joins BJP. Question is will he get ‘prasada’ from BJP or is he just a ‘catch’ for UP polls? In such deals if ‘ideology’ doesn’t matter changeover is easy,” Sibal tweeted. Kapil Sibal files his nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections, with the support of SP, in presence of party chief Akhilesh Yadav and party MP Ram Gopal Yadav, in Lucknow on Wednesday. Kapil Sibal with wife Promila Sibal and Akhilesh Yadav, as he files his nomination papers for Rajya Sabha with the latters support, at Vidhan Bhawan in Lucknow on Wednesday. POST RESIGNATION, EX- CONG LEADER SIBAL SPEAKS Aditi Nagar New Delhi: Only 10 days after the ‘reconcil- iatory’ CWC meeting (with G-23 leaders) chaired by Sonia Gan- dhi herself and over- enthusiastic Udaipur Chintan Shivir an- nouncements, Kapil Sibal resigns from the grand old party maybe just to get the Rajya Sab- ha ticket from the Sama- jwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh. All said and done, Gandhis have again failed to work out some suitable strategy to check the outgoing Congress leaders. At this point, senior Con- gress leaders still re- member Hardik Patel’s disappointingstatement saying that there is a lackof seriousnessatall levels in the party . Kapil Sibal’s resignation is one more such incident. Announcing that he had resigned from Con- gress last week, Kapil Sibal on Wednesday filed his nomination for RS as an Independent supported by the SP. A prominent member of the G23, which had sought an organisation- aloverhaulinCongress. Separatist Malik gets life in jail in terror funding New Delhi: Yasin Malik was sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in Delhi on Wednesday in con- nection to a terror funding case against him where NIA had demanded death pen- alty for the Kashmiri separatist leader. Meanwhile, protests have erupted in Sri- nagar as court sen- tenced Malik to life in prison. Malik had earlier pleaded guilty to all the charges, in- cluding those under stringent UAPA, in a terror funding case. Yasin Malik at Patiala House Court in New Delhi on Wednesday. Friends and relatives said Salvador Ramos, 18, was bullied “over a childhood speech impedi- ment” and “suffered from a fraught home life”. PM Modi holds Cabinet meeting immediately on arrival from Japan New Delhi (ANI): Prime Minister Naren- dra Modi, who arrived early morning on Wednesday after par- ticipating in the Quad Leaders’ Summit as part of his two-day tour in Japan, immediately held a Cabinet meeting after reaching the na- tional capital. Clashes broke out between supporters of Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik and JK Police in Maisuma area on Wednesday. Mobile internet was suspended in Kashmir as precautionary measure after court awarded life imprisonment to him, police said. Minutes after a court sentenced Kashmiri separa- tist leader Yasin Malik to life in prison in a terror funding case, the authorities in Delhi’s Tihar jail sat for a meeting to decide on increasing security and keeping closer watch on the inmate. The jail authorities have decided to keep the terror convict under maximum security, sources have said. Malik has been staying alone at a ward in Jail No. 7 of Tihar Prison. Two life im- prisonments have been given to Yasin Malik, besides that 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in 10 offences and Rs 10 lakh penalty, all the punishments will run concurrently. —Special NIA Judge PM LAUDS RAJ POLICY FOR MOBILE TOWERS Sister of Malik reads Quran while waiting for court order. Editor-In-Chief: Jagdeesh Chandra Editor: Anita Hada Sangwan responsible for selection of news under the PRB Act inister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Dis- tribution and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ashwini Kumar Choubey, a veteran BJP leader from Bi- har, shares with us how PM Modi, who was the CM of Gu- jarat in 2013, came to his fam- ily’s rescue when they were stranded amidst nature’s fury atKedarnath.Hetellsusabout how Modiji left no stone un- turned to rescue him and his family who were then inside the sanctum sanctorum of the Kedarnath temple and he lay unconscious there. Modiji kept the rescue work on for several hours and did every- thing in his power to help those stuck within the temple. On June 16, 2013, I reached Patna after attending the working committee meeting in Goa, and from there, along with my family , left for Kedar- nath. We knew that the situa- tion in Kedarnath was not ordinary as it had been rain- ing continuously for 3 days. I called up the District Magis- trate at Rudraprayag and he said that the situation was quite grim as landslides had blocked roads at several plac- es. He also said that it would take a couple of days for them to meet me. Even as we were having a conversation, I received a call from Narendra bhai. He asked about my whereabouts and I told him I was in Kedar- nath and that the situation there seemed rather terrify- ing and that I had a feeling of impending doom. As Modiji hung up, I received a call from a journalist in Patna. As we were conversing, I heard the deafening roar of a disas- ter. It was as if a thousand dynamites had gone off all at once and the lone candle burning on the table since morning as there was no elec- tricity, was blown off. It was pitch dark. My sons Arjit and Aviral and my son-in-law Subodh were sitting around the table with me and my youngest son said “Papaji I think it’s an earthquake.” The sounds of nature were ear-shattering and I could hear nothing then. Suddenly, I was floating in water up to my chest. The entire room seemed to be engulfed in wa- ter and my entire family was deep in water. We could hard- ly hear or see each other. I was overwhelmed and overcome with emotion. We had just offered our prayers at theJagadgurushrineandnow I could see our revered statue of LordShivaimmersedinthe deluge. People, houses, and animals, all were being swept awayinthedevastatingfloods. The devotees were jostling in the water to somehow stay afloat.Itseemedasif theheav- ens had torn asunder as we saw the house where the devo- tees were standing moments ago, being swept away in the flash floods. Those three days, June 16th, 17th and 18th have leftanindelibleimpressionon me because we, along with scores of people, spent those days within the seer’s sama- dhi. In the evening of June 18th we heard sound of heli- copters from Bhata, but we knew nothing was possible because of the unprecedented devastation we could witness all around. On 20th June, we received a call from the National Con- venor and we then tried to establish contact with Naren- dra bhai. When Modiji called, I was not in a position to speak because of exhaustion. My son Arjit spoke with him as he inquired about our whereabouts, our health and the condition of all the people around us. Modiji was anx- ious not just for us but for all the people who were stranded and dying. He spoke in great detail with Arjit and after taking in the minutest de- tails, he comforted my son that everything would be al- right. He would inform Suni- lji and tell him to arrange for help as soon as possible. He also said he would speak with the CM of Uttarakhand, Ba- hugunaji to send for rescue and in case, there is still any hindrance in the rescue op- eration, Narendrabhai as- sured my son that he would send a helicopter from Guja- rat for our safe and quick res- cue. He went to the extent of saying that he himself would reach Kedarnath to protect us. Such words of assurances and promises went a long way in comforting our family and in raising hopes of getting another day to live and serve the people of our country . I can never forget how deep- ly Narendra bhai was touched by the plight of thousands devastated by the floods. His mind was constantly focused on ways and means to send across relief to the victims and the first-hand-experie nc- es narrated by Arjit had a deep impact on Narendrab- hai’s psyche. In his heart, he simply wanted to be present in-person to render help to the affected people. Although he was the CM of Gujarat at that time, but his heart went out to each one of his countrymen who were suffering the wrath of nature. Only a true leader, a great statesman can feel and think of the common man in such a way . While I was hospitalised, I heard him asking how as the CM of Gujarat he could be of help in a disaster of such a great magnitude and assured of all the help from the Guja- rat government to bring re- lief to people. I was so full of emotion and touched by these words and I thought, Naren- dra bhai is no ordinary man. He is a man with a vision who’s priority is not just his state, but the country, and now it’s not just the country but the entire world. He was never constrained by boundaries and this vast- ness of spirit and the magna- nimity of heart that he dis- plays, it is a result of his bhakti. He is a spiritually evolved leader and this is his greatest shakti. How this shakti is manifesting itself by protecting our country is for one and all to see and ex- perience!. CM Yogi also ap- pealed to the Speaker of the Assembly to ex- punge the statement made by the leader of the opposition from the house proceedings as “it sets a bad precedent”. He remarked that such incidents tarnish the reputation of the entire house. Urging Yadav to restrain his anger, the Chief Minis- ter told him that it was not right on his part to make running com- mentary and issue threats when the depu- ty chief minister was speaking and that he should have waited un- til Maurya finished his speech. “A govt, whether yours or ours, has the right to talk about its achievements. Sibal says goodbye to Congress Lucknow: Senior Con- gress party leader Kapil Sibal, a former union minister, quitting the party came as a surprise to many but was a fore- gone conclusion. The veteran leader who was a prominent member of the Group of 23 (G-23), was feeling left alone after three other senior G-23 leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma, and P Chidam- baram made peace with the Gandhi family with an eye on grabbing party tickets for the upcoming Rajya Sabha biennial elections. The G-23 had raised the voice for a leadership change in the party in August 2020 and was demanding the restructuring of the party by holding internal elections. However, Azad, Sharma, and Chi- dambaram fell in line and declared that they were not against the party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi. Sibal was reportedly feeling betrayed by them. Sibal, whose term in RS ends July 4 was left with no choice but to look for his options. His mind was constantly focused on ways and means to send across relief to the victims and the first-hand-experienc- es narrated by Arjit had a deep impact on Narendrab- hai’s psyche. Sharat K Verma Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Ku- mar is in no hurry to make a political move. For the past one week, there has been a ruck- us about the things that have happened in Patna. The first and biggest issue is whether or not Nitish Kumar will give a Rajya Sabha ticket to the Union Minister and his ‘special war- lord’ RCP Singh? The second question is, will Nitish break away from BJP and recon- cile with RJD? Both the issues are very se- rious and have far- reaching political im- plications, however, Nitish is not taking any decision in a hur- ry. He is maintaining his distance from RCP and despite this, it is not final he will cut RCP’s ticket. On the other hand, Tejashwi Yadav has been roaming in Lon- don for a week. If there is to be a change of power in Bihar and the events are changing quickly, he should have been in Patna. But he was away from Patna, so questions are being raised on the possibility of change of power. Still, whatever deci- sion Nitish Kumar has to take, he will take it after the all-party meeting on caste cen- sus to be held this week. The Bharatiya Janata Party has made it clear that it is not in favor of the caste cen- sus, but the party will not oppose it in Bihar. If the BJP did not participate in the all- party meeting or raised questions on it, then it could be a mat- ter of separation for Nitish Kumar and all the parties like RJD, JDU, Congress, Left, LJP, Hum, VIP will come together. If this happens then BJP will be isolated. Nitish has proposed an all-party meeting on Friday i.e. May 27 and the last date for fil- ing nominations for the Rajya Sabha is May 30. So whatever decision Nitish will take, it is likely to hap- pen only after May 27, before which Tejashwi will also reach Patna. Will Nitish wait to strike on BJP after all party meet? Clue from drunk friend helps Noida cops nab killers Noida (PTI): Leads from a drunk friend -- who partially remem- bered the registration number and colour of a motorcycle -- helped the Noida police catch the killers of a 23-year-old man who was beaten to death with a concrete brick here on May 14, officials said. In what appeared to be a case of road rage that took place during night hours on an isolat- ed road stretch, the po- lice were left with no clue about the culprits, even as CCTV footage proved to be little help for officials investigat- ing the murder. Abhay Tyagi, a resi- dent of Bhangel under Phase 2 police station limits, was returning home with two friends. All of them were drunk when they got into a fight with three uniden- tified men who were coming on two motorcy- cles. An argument broke out between them, leading to Tyagi’s death after which the trio fled, officials said. Two of the accused were arrested by the po- lice on Tuesday, they said. “When the police launched the investiga- tion, there was no clue about the culprits. How- ever, one of the drunk friends of Tyagi told police that he could re- member the number of one of the motorcycles on which the assailants had come,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noi- da) Elamaran G told PTI. “The friend could remember only half of the number UP 16 CH and could not recall the last four digits and that the motorcycle was black in colour. We have tried analyzing CCTV footage of nearby areas also but to no avail. There was no other clue or leads which seemed workable. So we went around tracing the only lead we had,” the officer said. The po- lice then filtered out two-wheelers registered under UP 16 (Gautam Buddh Nagar) followed by the code CH and fur- ther zeroed down to fig- ure out the motorcycles owned by people living in Bhangel and nearby villages like Gejha and Salarpur. Both accused have been booked under IPC section 302, while their third associate is absconding but searches are underway to arrest him FOR MORE PRODUCTIVITY State Minister Kapil Dev Agarwal inaugurates Smart Deskboard system in the office of Training and Employment Directorate, Lucknow, on Wednesday. Kapil Sibal, an influential member of Congress’s internal pressure group G-23, has given a double blow to the party . On the one hand, he has made a public announcement to resign from the Con- gress party , on the other hand, now the represen- tationof Congressinthe RajyaSabhafromtheUP quota has ended. Not onlythis,therepresenta- tion of Congress in the Upper House of UP is also going to end in July . Notably , 31 members of Rajya Sabha are elect- ed from UP , out of which 11 members are going to retire in the month of July . Congress leader- cum-advocate Kapil Sibal is also included in this list. Till now, Sibal used to be the only Rajya Sabha member of Con- gress from UP . In the re- cently concluded assem- bly polls, the Congress has reached the lowest levelintermsof number of members. Only two candidates of this party , which got only 2.5 per- cent vote share, could win the election. Given the strength of the MLAs, support of 37 MLAswillberequiredto get a single Rajya Sabha seat from UP . In such a situation, the Congress does not even have the option of fielding any candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections. It is clearthatwiththedepar- ture of Sibal, the repre- sentation of Congress in Rajya Sabha from UP has become zero. Moreover, not only in the Upper House of Par- liament, but also in the Upper House of Uttar Pradesh, the Congress is going to face the same dismal situation. Maybe we could have used a swaddling palette af- ter the past two tur- bulent years, but the breakout col- our trend of 2022 couldn’t be far- ther away in spir- it. It turns out fashion de- signers wanted something brighter, bolder, and more en- ergetic: They wanted hot pink and dynamic blue. As we attempt to break down why we wear what we wear, and codify the qualities of dif- ferent garments, it’s worth starting with colour. An al- ready well-established notion, colour psychology looks at the moods, qualities and emotions associated with the shades of Pink and Blue. In the 21st century, the style trends of the fashion industry dominate the world more than they ever did and control not only the way people dress but also trends in homeware de- sign, makeup fashion and peo- ple’s overall attitudes. In the 60s flower power did not only mean flares and tunics, but it also summed up the whole at- titude of a generation, and this is even more prominent today . Nowadays, fashion is bold and daring, and this reflects a noughties generation that is not afraid to say what they think or wear what they want. Celebrating life’s special oc- casions is one of the most joy- ous things in the world. When it comes to fashion, this means wearing something that you love and something that ex- presses who you are. Fash- ion photography is a popular photog- raphy genre, but it is also highly competitive. Under- standing the different types of fashion photography can give you the edge you need to both understand the field and impress potential cli- ents with your images. The phrase “leap of faith” must be indeli- bly imprinted on the mind of just about every young de- signer who has decided to go it alone with their own label today. FLASHES OF FLASHES OF THE SHADES!
