Mumbai: A poor show-
ing of supporters in
Ayodhya on Sunday de-
flated Bharatiya Janata
Party (BJP) Member of
Parliament Brij Bhush-
an Sharan Singh’s in-
tendedshowof strength.
Reports from Uttar
Pradesh said the MP
was accompanied by a
fraction of the five lakh
supporters he had said
would show up to pro-
test the arrival of MNS
(Maharashtra Navnir-
man Sena) chief Raj
Thackeray’s supporters.
Adding insult to in-
jury, 10 MNS sainiks
also visited Ayodhya for
a darshan of Lord
Rama, ignoring threats
from Singh’s support-
ers, who had earlier
threatened to “drown
any Marathi (Maha-
rashtrian) who dared to
visit the holy land” on
June 05.
Further, Shiv Sena
Member of Parliament
Sanjay Raut and Minis-
ter for Urban Develop-
ment Eknath Shinde
also visited Ayodhya on
Sunday to finalize ar-
rangements for the pro-
posed visit by Maha-
rashtra’s Environment
and Tourism Minister
Aaditya Thackeray on
June 15.
“Our party MP Sin-
gh’s planned show of
strength on Sunday did
not even record the
presence of 5,000 sup-
porters, despite his ef-
forts to garner numbers
by announcing the dis-
tribution of 51 quintal
laddus as prasad to cel-
ebrate UP Chief Minis-
ter Yogi Adityanath’s
birthday
. The BJP lead-
ership had been clear
that it did not encour-
age any disruption to
pilgrimages to Ayod-
hya--something Singh
attempted to disre-
gard,” a senior BJP
leader told First India.
He added that, as pre-
viously reported by
First India, the UP CM
had also readied the
government guesthouse
for Raj Thackeray, who
rescheduled his pro-
posed June 05 visit over
health reasons.
AsFirstIndiahaspre-
viously reported, Sin-
gh’s disregard for the
party’s clear instruc-
tions has put him on the
radar of both the BJP’s
New Delhi leadership
and UP CM Adityanath.
“Singh’s political ca-
reer is now at stake. He
will pay the price for
disregarding the party
line on pilgrimages to
Ayodhya. Given that his
son is a serving member
of the UP state legisla-
tive assembly, the party
will likely deny him a
ticket for the 2024 Lok
Sabha elections citing
the ‘one family
, one post’
rule,” the BJP leader
said.

Mumbai: Elections for
Maharashtra’s six Rajya
Sabha seats on June 10
will have an effect on the
Vidhan Parishad elec-
tions scheduled for 10
days later. A pro-active
BJP is readying its strat-
egy to link the two cru-
cial elections and fight
for extra seats in both.
The party has pro-
posed three candidates
for the RS polls with
enough strength for two
seats. It is similarly ex-
pected to nominate five
or six candidates for the
subsequent legislative
council seats, despite
having the requisite
numbers to elect only
four.
In a quid pro quo, the
BJP has sought support
from independents and
amenable political for-
mations by linking it to
the Vidhan Parishad
elections scheduled for
June20. “Ourstrategyis

PULLS INDIAN PRODUCTS
Kuwait City: A Kuwaiti supermarket pulled Indian products
from its shelves even as Iran became the latest Middle
Eastern country to summon the Indian ambassador as a row
grew on Monday over a BJP
official’s remarks about the
Prophet Mohammed. Workers
at Al-Ardiya Co-Operative So-

trolleys in a protest against
comments denounced as
“Islamophobic”. Outside the
supermarket, sacks of rice and shelves of spices and chilies
were covered with plastic sheets. Printed signs in Arabic
read: “We have removed Indian products”.

As India faces a chorus of diplomatic outrage from Gulf
countries following derogatory references to Islam and

Gandhi on Monday hit out at the ruling
party, alleging that its bigotry not only
isolated India, but also damaged the coun-

wrote: “Divided internally, India becomes
weak externally. BJP’s shameful bigotry
has not only isolated us, but also dam-
aged India’s standing globally.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches the national portal
for credit-linked government schemes - Jan Samarth Portal
New Delhi (ANI):
Highlighting the policy
reforms made by the
Centre, PM Narendra
Modi on Monday said
that 21st century India
is moving ahead with
the approach of people-
centric governance
leaving behind the gov-
ernment-centric ap-

Celebrations’ of Minis-
try of Finance and the
Ministry of Corporate
Affairs on Monday at
Vigyan Bhawan, New
Delhi. The week (June
6-11) is being celebrated
as part of AKAM.
Modi said, “There
was a time when poli-
cies and decisions in the
country were govern-
ment-centric. It means
that after a scheme
started, it was responsi-
bility of people to reach
the government to avail
benefits.”

Dear readers,
Three
years ago,
this day
in 2019,
a dream
became
reality.
The seed of First India
was sown in Rajasthan
when the state was about
to undergo a change of
power. At its inception,
there was apprehension
if a Jaipur based newspa-
per would be at par with
the national newspapers
that are printed out of
the political or financial
nerve-centres of the
nation. Over the past
three years, FI’s focus on
news, its critical stand
on various government
policies along with a sup-
portive stance on policies
and schemes that have
done wonders for the
people, have made us
win the trust and acco-
lades of our readers. As
a result we step hence in
the 4th year, as gradu-
ally the seed is growing
into a ‘tree’ with our
‘branches’ in New Delhi,
Mumbai and Lucknow.
We thanks our readers
for the support and hope
to continue to hold high
their trust in us.

Every leader wants CM from his
party: Sule on Munde’s remarks
First India Bureau
Nagpur: Days after
NCP leader Dhanan-
jay Munde suggested
that the next chief
minister of Maha-
rashtra will be from
their party, NCP MP
Supriya Sule on Mon-
day said every leader
wants a CM from
their party and there
is “nothing new”
about it.
The NCP, headed by
Sharad Pawar, is a key
constituent of the Ud-
dhav Thackeray-led
Maha Vikas Aghadi in
Maharashtra, which
also comprises the Shiv
Sena and Congress.
When some reporters
here asked about
Munde’s remarks, Sule
said every leader, work-
er or follower of a party
wants a CM from their
organization and of the
same ideology
.
“This is a common
phenomenon, there is
nothing new in it,” she
said.
To a query on the pos-
sibility of horse-trad-
ing for the upcoming
Rajya Sabha polls from
Maharashtra, she said
such a thing was “un-
fortunate”, and nomi-
nees for six seats from
the state should have
been elected unopposed
without the need for a
contest. The ruling
MVA has fielded four
candidates and the BJP
has nominated three of
its leaders for the June
10 Rajya Sabha polls to
six seats from the state.
Sule said some MVA
membershadmetsenior

edthemtofindawayout
(toavoidacontestforthe
Rajya Sabha seats). On
speculations that some
smaller allies of MVA
mayhelptheBJP’sRajya

said this issue should be
taken seriously and the
ruling alliance leaders
should discuss it.
On some alleged ob-
jectionable comments
recently made by BJP
legislator Gopichand
Padalkar against NCP
chief Sharad Pawar,
Sule quipped that peo-
ple keep criticising him
as “there cannot be a
headline without criti-
cising Sharad Pawar”.

Nawab Malik seeks 1-day
bail to cast vote in RS poll
First India Bureau
Mumbai: Maharash-
tra minister Nawab
Malik, currently in
jail following arrest
in a money launder-
ing case, on Monday
approached a special
court here seeking
bail for one day to
cast vote in the up-
coming Rajya Sabha
elections to six seats
from the state.
Former Home Minis-
terAnilDeshmukh,who
is also in jail on money
laundering charges, had
filed a similar applica-
tion last week.
On Monday, a special
court in Mumbai, desig-
nated to hear cases re-
lated to the Prevention
of Money Laundering
Act, directed the En-
forcement Directorate
(ED) to file its affidavit
to both the applications
(Malik and Deshmukh)
and posted them for fur-
ther hearing on June 8.
The Rajya Sabha
polls are scheduled for
June 10. Malik was ar-
rested by the ED on Feb-
ruary 23 this year in
connection with a mon-
ey-laundering probe
linked to the activities
of fugitive gangster Da-
wood Ibrahim and his
aides.
The NCP leader in
his application sought
to be released on bail for
a day on June 10.
Malik in his plea
claimed that he is an
elected MLA and hence,
is duty-bound to repre-
sent the residents of his
constituency in electing
a representative to the
Rajya Sabha, and wants
to cast his vote in the
biennial elections.
The 288-member Ma-
harashtra Assembly
forms the electoral col-
lege for RS polls. While
Deshmukh and Malik
are currently in jail,
one seat is lying vacant.

Modi will interact

who undertake the bi-

at Pandharpur in Ma-

The Shila Mandir is
a temple dedicated to a
slab of stone (shila) on
which Sant Tukaram
had meditated for 13
days. A new idol of
Sant Tukaram has
been installed in the
temple near the shila', a
temple official said.
Legend has it that
Sant Tukaram was
made to drown the
books of his verses in
the river Indrayani by
scholar Rameshwar
Bhat. Sant Tukaram's
pleas that the verses,
elucidating the es-
sence of Vedas in
Prakrit, were not his
writing, but the words
of God who was speak-
ing through him,
found no favour with
Bhat.
According to the leg-
end, Bhat asked Sant
Tukaram to drown the
books of the verses in
the river and declared
that if it was indeed
God's doing, he would
returnthemunscathed.
Sant Tukaram sat on
a slab of stone on the
banks of the river in
meditation for 13 days,
after which books were
found floating in the
river unaffected by the
water, it said. Devotees
of Tukaram,thewarka-
ris, offer prayers at the
Shila Temple before
starting their pilgrim-
age to Pandharpur in
the Hindu months of
Ashad and Kartik.
In November last
year, Modi had laid the
foundation stone of
four-laning of key sec-
tions of the Sant Dy-
aneshwar Maharaj
Palkhi Marg (NH-965)
and Sant Tukaram Ma-
haraj Palkhi Marg
(NH-965G).

are being constructed
alongside the high-
ways to ease the move-
ment of warkaris un-
dertaking the pilgrim-
age to Pandharpur.

FAITH IN THE SYSTEM?
Asked if NCP MLAs Anil

elections, Sule said,
“The two NCP leaders

anything wrong. We have
faith in the judiciary and
we believe that we will
get justice. NCP leader
Chhagan Bhujbal is trying
that both the leaders get
an opportunity to vote.”
On dismissed police of-

“The person (Waze),
who himself is facing

Mumbai: In a sting-

Monday said while
people in the UT are

is busy celebrating.
The Sena’s dig over
the Modi government’s

editorial in the party

While the BJP is busy

surprising that they are
oblivious to the suffer-

this discontent among

Mumbai: Parts of Ma-

some pre-monsoon
showers in the com-
ing days. The mon-
soon, which usually
arrives in the state
between June 05 and
June 15, has been
slightly delayed this
year, weather service
provider Skymet said
on Monday.
Tuesday could bring
rain to parts of south
Konkan and South
Madhya Maharashtra,
including the cities
of Sangli and Satara,
and their adjoining ar-
eas, the weatherman
predicts.
Around June 08, rain
spread and intensity
will increase, and South
Marathwada will also
see some rainfall activi-
ties. Konkan will re-
main light and no rains
will be seen over Vid-
arbha. There could be
some heavy spells in
isolated pockets as well.
On June 09, rains will
be seen over parts of
Vidarbha, but they will
remain scattered and
light to moderate in in-
tensity
. Rains will see a
reduction in activities.
Notably, Skymet
highlights that these
are merely pre-mon-

that it was unfortunate
that this was happening

The bench noted that
Bhamre was 22 years

The bench directed
the state government to

Advocate Jha then re-

pass an order releasing
his client on bail.
The judges, however,
said such an order can-

UNION GOVT: CENTRE TELLS HC
More than 1.8K acre of the 6K acre land
in Kanjurmarg area was to be used for
the construction of a Metro car shed
The state government had in its application claimed that over 1,800 acre of the disputed
land belonged to it and the private firm did not have any right on it, adding the order was
fraudulently obtained by the private firm. Advocate Himanshu Takke said the HC was not
informed that out of the over 6,000 acre land, over 1,800 acre belonged to the state gov-
ernment, nearly 120 acre to the Centre and about 200 acre of land parcels in Kanjurmarg
village belonged to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

terms with an India which has
grown more powerful and richer.
Before pointing a finger at In-

must act now. In response, more

T

Prophet Muham-
mad should have a sobering
effect on the politics of hate
which the Bharatiya Janata
Party practices directly and
indirectly
. It has tried to pla-
cate Qatar, Kuwait, Iran and
Saudi Arabia by reaching out
to the respective governments
and suspending national
spokesperson Nupur Sharma
and expelling Naveen Kumar

position, the party stated that
“BJPrespectsallreligionsand

Why Nupur was not ex-
pelled is a question which the
BJP will find difficult to an-
swer and also leave its inten-
tions on respect for all reli-
gions open to doubt amid in-
creasing claims over mosques
andotherhistoricmonuments
by the Hindus. Mere suspen-
sion of Nupur hints at a pos-
sible bigger role for her in the
near future. What is baffling,
however, is describing the two
national spokespersons as
“fringe elements”, especially
in the case of Nupur who was
even fielded by the BJP in Del-
hi elections. Even this action
is being condemned by BJP
zealots, the real fringe ele-
ments, who view it as suc-
cumbing to Islamic forces.
The BJP-led government is
caught in a bind. On the one
hand it has its fringe elements
persistingwiththeiranti-Mus-

it has to keep the Gulf coun-

religious tolerance. The Arab
countries which form part of

some course-correction.
BJP NEEDS TO CHECK

Why Nupur was not expelled is
a question which the BJP will
find difficult to answer and
also leave its intentions on
respect for all religions open to

NEVER FORGET THAT YOUR
LIFE IS OF LIMITED TIME
ntrepreneurs, Employees,
and Students live in a con-
tinuously stressful life, in
today’s highly competitive
era. Entrepreneurs want to
achieve those turnovers and
profit numbers. Corporate
executives want to complete
those targets. Students want
to get good marks. House-
wives have to continuously
work for the ambition of hus-
band and children. At this
time one question arises, is
the purpose of our life just to
achieve ambitions like profit,
money, designation, good
scores? Let me give you an
example of a small event.
Oneverytensepersoncame
to a very well known monk.
The monk asked him the rea-
son for coming. The person
said “I am living a very trou-
bled life. I am working very
hard. I am working almost 18
hours a day
. I am constantly
engaged with thoughts of
workthewholeday
,justsothat
I could be superior to my col-
leagues. But still, my col-
leagues are one step ahead of
me even today
. I can’t achieve
myambition.Mywifeandchil-
dren are offended of me be-
cause I don’t have time to
spend with them. Please show
me the path for a successful
and happy life.” The monk lis-
tened to him very quietly and
asked him to come the next
morning at the bank of the
river. Second-day early morn-
ing that person came to the
bank of the river. Monk was
already present there. Monk
tookhimintotheriverandtold
him to dive into it. With lots of
amazement, the person did so.
As he drowned his head
into the water suddenly
monk grabbed his head from
the neck and kept it sub-
merged in water. The person
started panicking. He could
not even breathe properly
. As
the person was about to die,
the monk took his head out
of the water. The person was
so angry he started saying
bad words to the monk.
But the monk asked him
humbly “What did you expe-
rience while drowning in the
water?” The person replied,
“I could just think about how
I can save my life” The Monk
smiled and said “God has
given you such a beautiful
life. Only one thing is pre-
decided and yet unknown
and that is, the time of your
death. Then why so many
ambitions and why are you
living a life full of stress?
At that time that person got
true guidance and after that
started living his life happily
.
The ultimate moral is god
gifted this valuable life to us
only for one time. So, all of us
should appreciate our life
and enjoy it with maximum
happiness. We should keep
the stress of small problems
aside and should try to live
an excellent life.
PRESENTING A FEW
POINTS BELOW

z Workload should be limited
to our office time only. There
is no need to bring work-
stress to home. Time after
office hours are for family
and friends so use it wisely

z Similarly, there is also no
need to bring the stress
of home to the office also.
While being at office you
should keep your focus at
work at a 100 percent. Try to
give your best and you will
surely get success.

z Whether you are a student or
a housewife, there is no need
to take unnecessary stress.
Whatever you do, do it with
a cheerful mind. Low grades
don’t matter, what matters is
your intelligence and ardor,
which will help you in identi-
fying new directions.

z Never forget that your life is of
limited time. So work in such a
way that the society and your
friends will remember you.

New Delhi: In deciding
the Rajya Sabha candi-
date, there has been an
amazing ‘check-mate’
politics going on be-
tween the BJP and its
ally JDU in Bihar. JDU
leader and Chief Minis-
ter Nitish Kumar had
given a very clear indi-
cation that he is not go-
ing to give ticket to the
Union Minister and Ra-
jya Sabha MP of his
party - RCP Singh. Then
there was talk that BJP
can give ticket to RCP,
but the BJP did not want
to upset Nitish under
any circumstances. The
BJP was apprehensive
that Nitish was betting
on the BJP on the pre-
text of RCP and if the
BJP took any step in re-
sponse, Nitish might
once again go with the
RJD. That is why BJP
too ignored RCP
.
Despite this, BJP took
care of politics and gave
ticket to Shambhu
Sharan Patel. Shambhu
Sharan Patel is not an
old leader associated
with any Sangh or BJP,
rather he was earlier in
JDU. But his most strik-
ing feature is that he
comes from the Dhanuk
caste, which is similar
to the Kurmi caste of
both the CM and RCP.
The majority of the pop-
ulation in the Kurmi
community is of Dha-
nuks. BJP played a gam-
ble by giving ticket from
a member of that com-
munity
. Nitish Kumar
countered BJP’s move
and gave ticket to JDU’s
Jharkhand president
Khiru Mahto. He is also
Kurmi and will work for
the politics of around 17
per cent Kurmi popula-
tion of Jharkhand. BJP

its ally Sudesh Mahto’s

Will Nitish accomplish his vision of countering BJP?

Moosewala in Mansa district, the Punjab Police
on Tuesday made the first arrest in this case.

Justice to all, appeasement to

Vijaywada: BJP Na-
tional President JP Na-
dda has said that India
was known as a ‘cor-
rupt state’ and that In-
dian polity had lost re-
spect before Narendra
Modi took the reigns
eight years ago.
“Today, India, a $3
trillion dollar economy,
is poised to grow to $5
trillion dollar in the fu-
ture due to the phenom-
enal transformation
brought about by the
BJP-led NDA govern-
ment at the Centre. Jus-
tice to all and appease-
ment to none is our hall-
mark. We launched a
full-fledged develop-
ment programme in
2014 and it is going to
achieve many wonders,
said Nadda on Monday

He was addressing a

ised on the occasion of

Responsibility towards public paramount:
Birla tells newly-elected Manipur MLAs
New Delhi:Lok Sabha
Speaker Om Birla on
Monday called upon the
newly elected legisla-
tors from Manipur to
adopt a public first”
policy and underlined
the importance of tak-
ing all stakeholders on
board while formulat-
ing any law.
Speaking on the occa-
sion of the 3-day orien-
tation programme for
the newly elected mem-
bers of the legislative
assemblyfromManipur
in New Delhi, Birla
said, “Whenever you
formulate a law make
sure you take all the
stakeholders on board,
it is important to place
a draft of such bills in
the public domain to
seek public feedback in
order to make a lot
more effective and pub-
licly acceptable.”
The Speaker also
asked lawmakers to
keep Prime Minister
Narendra Modi’s call in
mind to do away with
obsolete and outdated
laws.
Talking about the
beautiful legacy of the
north-eastern state of
Manipur with diverse
culture, Birla lauded
the efforts with which
Manipur was striving
forward in the field of
development.
“The north-eastern
state of Manipur is the
doorway to the south-
east and is also of a cru-
cial part of India’s Act
East policy,” Birla
said.
The Manipur Legisla-
tive Assembly was es-
tablished in the year
1972 and this year, it
completes 50 years.
Birla further said
that India is the world’s
largest democracy and

“The whole world is
watching India and its
Parliamentary legisla-
tive democracy… Sev-
eral delegations from
across the world have
travelled to India and

Norovirus: Centre asks Kerala for reports
New Delhi: Amid two
confirmed cases of the
norovirus infection be-
ing reported from Kera-
la, the Union health
ministry has asked the
State Surveillance Of-
fice (SSO) to submit a
detailed report in the
matter, official sources

.
Norovirus is a viral
illness that is the most
common cause of acute
gastroenteritis globally
.
Symptoms of norovirus
include acute onset di-
arrhoea and vomiting.
Emerging evidence sug-
gests that the norovirus
infection is associated
with intestinal inflam-
mation, malnutrition
and may cause long-
term morbidity, an offi-
cial explained.
Globally, an estimat-
ed 685 million (68.5
crore) cases of norovi-
rus are seen annually,
including 200 million
(20 crore) cases amongst
children under five

New Delhi: The story
of the ‘dog walker’ IAS
couple is a much dis-
cussed topic these days,
not just in bureaucrat-
ic circles but in the gen-
eral public too. The
‘dog walker’ IAS cou-
ple, it is alleged, used to
vacate the Thyagaraj
Stadium in Delhi for
‘morning walk’. Ath-
letes exercising and
practicing in the stadi-
um were asked to va-
cate the stadium before
7:30 so that the officials
could walk around
with the dog. An Eng-
lish newspaper re-
vealed this and in a
hurry, the government
transferred both of
them and sent the hus-
band to Ladakh and the
wife to Arunachal
Pradesh. This decision
of the government was
highly praised in social
media and a lot of
memes were also made.
But the question is
whether both have
been sent to Ladakh
andArunachalPradesh
as punishment for a big
mistake? Officers liv-
ing in Delhi generally
refer to postings in
these states as punish-
ment posting or com-
pulsion posting. But in
reality these two areas
are the most sensitive
areas for India. China
has an eye on both
Ladakh and Arunachal
Pradesh and its sol-
diers keep infiltrating
these areas every day.
China is trying to
change the geography
of these two areas and
is also plotting to
change the population
structure or regional
structure. Therefore, it
is extremely dangerous
proposition if such a
sensitive state is being
made a dumping
ground as a punish-
ment posting. As a rule,
only the best of the best
officers should be sent
to these two areas.
Are Ladakh and Arunachal regions now only a dumping ground of officials?

Mumbai (PTI): Credit
ratings agency Icra on
Monday revised up-
ward its projection of
international air pas-
senger traffic at Indian
airports at 80-85% of
the pre-pandemic vol-
umes during this fiscal.
The volume of such
travellers has already
touched 72% of the pre-
Covid level in May
.
The steep recovery in
international passen-
gers’ demand came on
the back of resumption
of scheduled flight op-
erations in late March
in the wake of easing of
travel restrictions
norms and resilient
passenger demand.
Major destinations
driving the internation-
al traffic demand are
Southeast Asia, the
Middle East and Eu-
rope, it said.
Commercial opera-
tions of international
flights resumed on
March 27 after a hiatus
of two years amid COV-
ID-19 pandemic. During
that period internation-
al operations were lim-
ited to countries
through special flights
under the ‘Vande
Bharat Mission’ and bi-
lateral ‘air transport
bubble’ agreements
with several countries.
The ramp-up is
healthy with interna-
tional passenger traffic
reaching 63% and 72%
of pre-Covid levels
(similar period in 2019)
in April and May, re-
spectively, this year
compared to the recov-
ery of less than 50% to
that of pre-pandemic
levels during FY22, the
ratings agency said.
Icra said it also ex-
pects the ramp-up in the
overall passenger traf-
fic to 96-97% of the pre-
Covid levels in FY23 on
the back of a strong and
sharp recovery in do-
mestic passenger traffic
and the resumption of
international commer-
cial operations.
The recovery in do-
mestic passenger traffic
was strong post-Omi-
cron and has reached
98% of pre-Covid levels
in April and May, it
said, adding, overall,
passenger traffic has
reached 93% of pre-
Covid levels in May
.
“Resumption of in-
ternational commercial
operations has acceler-
ated the traffic recov-
ery. Considering the
healthy ramp-up in in-
ternational traffic in
the last two months,
Icra expects interna-
tional traffic to reach
80-85% of the pre-Covid
level in FY23 as against
earlier estimates of 70-
75%,” said Abhishek
Lahoti, senior analyst,
for corporate ratings at
Icra. Further, as expect-
ed, the recovery of do-
mestic passenger traffic
was sharp and much
faster post-Omicron, he
said.

WORK FROM HOME IS

Kolkata (PTI): As
WorkfromHome(WFH)
has become a reality
post-Covid-19 pandem-
ic, there is an increased
demand for functional
and flexible spaces that
canaccommodatework-
space conveniently lo-
cated in urban centres
for easy access of the
employees, according to
CIRIL. It is not the only
business that is looking
for more resilience
through flexible forms
of real estate, property
developers and land-
lords also are seeking a
sustained model of cre-
ating a need-based eco-
system for future of
work where hybrid
models of working are
becoming norms.
With the prospect of
more workforce and of-
fice workers taking up
remote or flexible work
practices, building oc-
cupancy rates may de-
crease in short term but
a few segments such as
co-working and flexible
spaces are going to be
the main demand driv-

it said. Developers and
corporates have to work
in tandem to address
the needs of the hybrid
work culture through
augmentation of exist-

Auto sales in slow lane in May: FADA
New Delhi (PTI): Re-

month but the sales of
two-wheeler and com-
mercial vehicles re-
mained low compared
to the pre-COVID
month of May 2019, ac-
cording to automobile
dealers’ body FADA.
On Monday, FADA
said that overall auto
retails stood at
16,46,773 units in May,
down from 18,22,900
units in May 2019.
“May 2022 retails

  • 1. Renni Abraham Mumbai: A poor show- ing of supporters in Ayodhya on Sunday de- flated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Brij Bhush- an Sharan Singh’s in- tendedshowof strength. Reports from Uttar Pradesh said the MP was accompanied by a fraction of the five lakh supporters he had said would show up to pro- test the arrival of MNS (Maharashtra Navnir- man Sena) chief Raj Thackeray’s supporters. Adding insult to in- jury, 10 MNS sainiks also visited Ayodhya for a darshan of Lord Rama, ignoring threats from Singh’s support- ers, who had earlier threatened to “drown any Marathi (Maha- rashtrian) who dared to visit the holy land” on June 05. Further, Shiv Sena Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut and Minis- ter for Urban Develop- ment Eknath Shinde also visited Ayodhya on Sunday to finalize ar- rangements for the pro- posed visit by Maha- rashtra’s Environment and Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray on June 15. “Our party MP Sin- gh’s planned show of strength on Sunday did not even record the presence of 5,000 sup- porters, despite his ef- forts to garner numbers by announcing the dis- tribution of 51 quintal laddus as prasad to cel- ebrate UP Chief Minis- ter Yogi Adityanath’s birthday . The BJP lead- ership had been clear that it did not encour- age any disruption to pilgrimages to Ayod- hya--something Singh attempted to disre- gard,” a senior BJP leader told First India. He added that, as pre- viously reported by First India, the UP CM had also readied the government guesthouse for Raj Thackeray, who rescheduled his pro- posed June 05 visit over health reasons. AsFirstIndiahaspre- viously reported, Sin- gh’s disregard for the party’s clear instruc- tions has put him on the radar of both the BJP’s New Delhi leadership and UP CM Adityanath. “Singh’s political ca- reer is now at stake. He will pay the price for disregarding the party line on pilgrimages to Ayodhya. Given that his son is a serving member of the UP state legisla- tive assembly, the party will likely deny him a ticket for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections citing the ‘one family , one post’ rule,” the BJP leader said. DHANKHAR CALLS ON SHAH West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar called on the Union Home Minister Amit Shah at latter’s North Block Office in New Delhi on Monday. SHAH TO INAUGURATE NATIONAL TRIBAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE IN DELHI TODAY Amit Shah will inaugurate the National Tribal Research Institute in the national capital on Tuesday which will design stud- ies and programmes to improve socio- economic aspects of tribal lifestyles. The Union Tribal Affairs Ministry said the NTRI will be a premier national-level institute and will become the nerve centre of tribal concerns, issues and matters in academic, executive and legislative fields. WB CM TO REPLACE GUV AS CHANCELLOR AT VARSITIES, CABINET CLEARS PROPOSAL The West Bengal cabinet on Monday gave its nod to replace Governor Jagdeep Dhankar and appoint Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as the Chancellor of all state-run universities under different departments like Health, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Minority Affairs Dept instead. Cabinet also approved a proposal to remove the Governor as Visitor at private univer- sities. Decision will be taken up for approval in state Assembly where ruling TMC is in majority. BRIJ BHUSHAN SHARAN SINGH’S SHOW OF STRENGTH FIZZLES IN AYODHYA Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh Gonda MP had threatened to disrupt MNS leader Raj Thackeray’s proposed visit BJP PLANS TRADE-OFF TO SECURE RS SPOT FOR 3RD CANDIDATE Renni Abraham Mumbai: Elections for Maharashtra’s six Rajya Sabha seats on June 10 will have an effect on the Vidhan Parishad elec- tions scheduled for 10 days later. A pro-active BJP is readying its strat- egy to link the two cru- cial elections and fight for extra seats in both. The party has pro- posed three candidates for the RS polls with enough strength for two seats. It is similarly ex- pected to nominate five or six candidates for the subsequent legislative council seats, despite having the requisite numbers to elect only four. In a quid pro quo, the BJP has sought support from independents and amenable political for- mations by linking it to the Vidhan Parishad elections scheduled for June20. “Ourstrategyis simple, even as the news mediakeepsaskingif we will indulge in so-called horse-trading. Both BJP—with 30 votes left over after electing two preferredRSmembers— as well as the MVA— with 27 extra votes— would naturally be keen to not let them go to waste. We want to lever- age our extra votes and negotiatewithindepend- ents and opposing politi- calformationstoget our third RS candidate elect- ed,” a senior BJP leader confirmed. Turn to P8 To garner support of Independents, MLAs from smaller parties, BJP will leverage a seat in the June 20 Vidhan Parishad polls Ashwini Vaishnaw Devendra Fadnavis Uddhav Thackeray For instance, if you have Rs70 and ice cream costs Rs25, you may choose to purchase two for Rs50 or try to ne- gotiate with the vendor to purchase three for Rs70. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut was also seeking to secure extra votes for his party’s second candidate. He even held meetings with (independent MLA) Ravi Rana. —Senior BJP leader REMARK ON PROPHET MUHAMMED GOVT FIREFIGHTS AFTER GULF OUTRAGE “Narrow-Minded”: India’s reply to Islamic nations’ group Moni Sharma New Delhi: The sus- pension of BJP spokes- person Nupur Sharma and expulsion of the BJP’s Delhi media cell chief Naveen Kumar on Sunday amid a diplo- matic furore between India and West Asian countries has created a major buzz within the BJP. The government on Monday fought to de- fuse anger in Gulf countries and opposi- tion attacks at home over comments on Prophet Muhammad by two BJP leaders. India on Monday slammed comments by OIC as narrow-mind- ed, motivated, mis- leading and mischie- vous. Reacting to re- marks by OIC, MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said India ac- cords highest respect to all religions and that the statement by 57-member grouping exposed its divisive agenda which is being pursued at the behest of vested interests. OIC also urged UN to take necessary measures to ensure that rights of Muslims are protected in India. External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi KUWAIT SUPERMARKET PULLS INDIAN PRODUCTS Kuwait City: A Kuwaiti supermarket pulled Indian products from its shelves even as Iran became the latest Middle Eastern country to summon the Indian ambassador as a row grew on Monday over a BJP official’s remarks about the Prophet Mohammed. Workers at Al-Ardiya Co-Operative So- ciety store piled Indian tea into trolleys in a protest against comments denounced as “Islamophobic”. Outside the supermarket, sacks of rice and shelves of spices and chilies were covered with plastic sheets. Printed signs in Arabic read: “We have removed Indian products”. BJP’S BIGOTRY DAMAGED INDIA’S STANDING GLOBALLY: RAHUL GANDHI As India faces a chorus of diplomatic outrage from Gulf countries following derogatory references to Islam and the Prophet by two now-expelled BJP spokespersons, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday hit out at the ruling party, alleging that its bigotry not only isolated India, but also damaged the coun- try’s position globally. Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “Divided internally, India becomes weak externally. BJP’s shameful bigotry has not only isolated us, but also dam- aged India’s standing globally.” Highlights Dinner to be hosted by Qatar’s Deputy Emir for VP Naidu was cancelled, but reportedly on health grounds Pakistan summons Indian chargé d’affaires and told the Indian diplomat that it “deplores belated and perfunctory disciplinary actions taken by BJP against said officials, which cannot assuage pain caused to Muslims” Saudi Arabia’s Min- istry of Foreign Af- fairs welcomed decision taken by the ruling party in suspending Sharma Mumbai Police will soon send a sum- mon to suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, says Mumbai top cop Sanjay Pandey Ittehad-e-Millat Council says it will hold protests across country on June 10 All-India Muslim Personal Law Board demands legal action against Nupur Action should have been taken 10 days ago, says AIMIM presi- dent Asaduddin Owaisi Indonesia strongly condemns unaccep- table derogatory remarks 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 PM: India moving ahead with people-centric governance Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches the national portal for credit-linked government schemes - Jan Samarth Portal New Delhi (ANI): Highlighting the policy reforms made by the Centre, PM Narendra Modi on Monday said that 21st century India is moving ahead with the approach of people- centric governance leaving behind the gov- ernment-centric ap- proach. Dear readers, Three years ago, this day in 2019, a dream became reality. The seed of First India was sown in Rajasthan when the state was about to undergo a change of power. At its inception, there was apprehension if a Jaipur based newspa- per would be at par with the national newspapers that are printed out of the political or financial nerve-centres of the nation. Over the past three years, FI’s focus on news, its critical stand on various government policies along with a sup- portive stance on policies and schemes that have done wonders for the people, have made us win the trust and acco- lades of our readers. As a result we step hence in the 4th year, as gradu- ally the seed is growing into a ‘tree’ with our ‘branches’ in New Delhi, Mumbai and Lucknow. We thanks our readers for the support and hope to continue to hold high their trust in us. rd FIRST INDIA JAIPUR’S Dr Jagdeesh Chandra, Editor-in-Chief www.firstindia.co.in I www.firstindia.co.in/epapers/mumbai I twitter.com/thefirstindia I facebook.com/thefirstindia I instagram.com/thefirstindia MUMBAI l TUESDAY, JUNE 7, 2022 l Pages 12 l 3.00 RNI TITLE NO. The NCP, headed by Sharad Pawar, is a key constituent of the Ud- dhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra, which also comprises the Shiv Sena and Congress. When some reporters here asked about Munde’s remarks, Sule said every leader, work- er or follower of a party wants a CM from their organization and of the same ideology . “This is a common phenomenon, there is nothing new in it,” she said. To a query on the pos- sibility of horse-trad- ing for the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls from Maharashtra, she said such a thing was “un- fortunate”, and nomi- nees for six seats from the state should have been elected unopposed without the need for a contest. The ruling MVA has fielded four candidates and the BJP has nominated three of its leaders for the June 10 Rajya Sabha polls to six seats from the state. Sule said some MVA membershadmetsenior BJPleadersandrequest- edthemtofindawayout (toavoidacontestforthe Rajya Sabha seats). On speculations that some smaller allies of MVA mayhelptheBJP’sRajya Sabha candidates , Sule said this issue should be taken seriously and the ruling alliance leaders should discuss it. On some alleged ob- jectionable comments recently made by BJP legislator Gopichand Padalkar against NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Sule quipped that peo- ple keep criticising him as “there cannot be a headline without criti- cising Sharad Pawar”. First India Bureau Mumbai: The Maha- rashtra government on Monday approved three new wildlife sanctuaries and 12 new conservation re- serves covering an area of more than 800 square kilometre at the 18th meeting of the State Wildlife Board (SWB) presided over by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray . The meeting, also at- tended by Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray, approved a proposal to upgrade the Kolamarka conserva- tion reserve in Siron- cha division of Gadchi- roli to a sanctuary . This was done following an increase in the number of endangered wild buf- faloes. A proposal to de- clare the extended areas of Lonar sanctuary around the Lonar cra- ter in Buldhana district and Muktai-Bhavani ti- ger reserve in Jalgaon district as sanctuaries was also approved. Additionally, 12 new conservation reserve areas in the state in- cluding two in Dhule district, Chivatibawri (66.04 sq. km) and Ala- dari (100.56 sq. km), four in Nashik district, Kalvan (84.12 sq. km), Muragad (42.87 sq. km), Trimbakeshwar (96.97 sq. km), and Igatpuri (88.499 sq. km), two in Raigad district (47.62 sq. km), and Roha (27.30 sq. km), Bhor (28.44 sq. km) in Pune district, Dare Khurd (Maha- dare) in Satara district (1.07 sq. km), Masai Pla- teau in Kolhapur dis- trict (5.34 sq. km), and Mogaraksa (103.92 sq. km) in Nagpur district, were also approved. Nawab Malik seeks 1-day bail to cast vote in RS poll First India Bureau Mumbai: Maharash- tra minister Nawab Malik, currently in jail following arrest in a money launder- ing case, on Monday approached a special court here seeking bail for one day to cast vote in the up- coming Rajya Sabha elections to six seats from the state. Former Home Minis- terAnilDeshmukh, who is also in jail on money laundering charges, had filed a similar applica- tion last week. On Monday, a special court in Mumbai, desig- nated to hear cases re- lated to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, directed the En- forcement Directorate (ED) to file its affidavit to both the applications (Malik and Deshmukh) and posted them for fur- ther hearing on June 8. The Rajya Sabha polls are scheduled for June 10. Malik was ar- rested by the ED on Feb- ruary 23 this year in connection with a mon- ey-laundering probe linked to the activities of fugitive gangster Da- wood Ibrahim and his aides. The NCP leader in his application sought to be released on bail for a day on June 10. Malik in his plea claimed that he is an elected MLA and hence, is duty-bound to repre- sent the residents of his constituency in electing a representative to the Rajya Sabha, and wants to cast his vote in the biennial elections. The 288-member Ma- harashtra Assembly forms the electoral col- lege for RS polls. While Deshmukh and Malik are currently in jail, one seat is lying vacant. First India Bureau New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate to the nation Shila Man- dir, a temple in hon- our of Sant Tukar- am, the 17th century saint at his birth- place Dehu, about 30 km from Pune, on June 14. The Prime Minister will dedi- cate to the nation the Shila Temple of Sant Tukaram on June 14, Nitin More, the Pres- ident of the Jagadgu- ru Shree Sant Tukar- am Maharaj San- sthan toldthe media. Modi will interact with warkaris, devo- tees of Sant Tukaram who undertake the bi- annual pilgrimage on foot to Vithoba temple at Pandharpur in Ma- harashtra. The Shila Mandir is a temple dedicated to a slab of stone (shila) on which Sant Tukaram had meditated for 13 days. A new idol of Sant Tukaram has been installed in the temple near the shila', a temple official said. Legend has it that Sant Tukaram was made to drown the books of his verses in the river Indrayani by scholar Rameshwar Bhat. Sant Tukaram's pleas that the verses, elucidating the es- sence of Vedas in Prakrit, were not his writing, but the words of God who was speak- ing through him, found no favour with Bhat. According to the leg- end, Bhat asked Sant Tukaram to drown the books of the verses in the river and declared that if it was indeed God's doing, he would returnthemunscathed. Sant Tukaram sat on a slab of stone on the banks of the river in meditation for 13 days, after which books were found floating in the river unaffected by the water, it said. Devotees of Tukaram,thewarka- ris, offer prayers at the Shila Temple before starting their pilgrim- age to Pandharpur in the Hindu months of Ashad and Kartik. In November last year, Modi had laid the foundation stone of four-laning of key sec- tions of the Sant Dy- aneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Marg (NH-965) and Sant Tukaram Ma- haraj Palkhi Marg (NH-965G). Dedicated walkways are being constructed alongside the high- ways to ease the move- ment of warkaris un- dertaking the pilgrim- age to Pandharpur. Asked if NCP MLAs Anil Deshmukh and Nawab Malik, who are currently in jail, would be allowed to vote in the Rajya Sabha elections, Sule said, “The two NCP leaders are in jail without doing anything wrong. We have faith in the judiciary and we believe that we will get justice. NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal is trying that both the leaders get an opportunity to vote.” On dismissed police of- ficer Sachin Waze turning an approver in a corrup- tion case against former state home minister Anil Deshmukh, Sule said, “The person (Waze), who himself is facing allegations is becoming a witness, and the person (Deshmukh) who has no allegations against him, his residence had been searched 109 times. “Have we seen something like this before? It is sort of a record,” she said, claiming that central agencies were being “misused” by the Union government. Supriya Sule —FILE PHOTO Submits plea stating that, as an elected MLA, he is duty-bound to represent his constituents in electing representatives to the Upper House People in Kashmir suffering but ‘king’ busy with celebrations First India Bureau Mumbai: In a sting- ing attack on the Nar- endra Modi govern- ment over the target- ed killings in Kash- mir, the Shiv Sena on Monday said while people in the UT are suffering, the “king” is busy celebrating. The Sena’s dig over the Modi government’s eighth-anniversary cel- ebrations attack ap- peared in the form of an editorial in the party mouthpiece ‘Saamana’. While the BJP is busy promoting how provi- sions of Article 370 were nullified and sur- gical strikes were car- ried out on Pakistan- based terrorists, it is surprising that they are oblivious to the suffer- ings of Kashmiri Pan- dits, it said. “While Kashmiri peo- ple are suffering, the king is busy in celebra- tions,” the editorial stat- ed,addingthatwhilethe party (BJP) derived a political mileage from the surgical strikes, the situation in Kashmir has worsened and Hin- dus are still being killed. “CM Uddhav Thack- eray has said that the state will support Kash- miri Pandits. The state will do whatever is needed,” Sena added. ‘Ministersseekcommissionfordevtfunds’ First India Bureau Nagpur: Ahead of the June 10 Rajya Sabha elections, Shiv Sena- supported independ- ent MLA Ashish Jaiswal on Monday alleged some minis- ters in the Maha Vi- kas Aghadi (MVA) government demand- ed a “commission” in the constituency de- velopment fund. The Ramtek MLA told reporters that he would complain to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray about such ministers. Jaiswal is currently the chief ob- server for MLAs who have complaints regard- ing the distribution of funds. He, however, said this discontent among certain MLAs over the distribution of constitu- ency funds would not impact the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections as he hopes that CM will address the grievances. CM Thackeray is ex- pected to meet with In- dependent MLAs in Mumbai on Monday . “The discontent over thedistributionof funds won’t go away until ad- dressed,” Jaiswal told a Marathi news channel, adding, “We will not tol- erate any imbalance in thedistributionof funds and also not allow that injustice is done to our constituencies. Many ministers ask for mone- tary gains from the works carried out in our constituencies through the development fund. I will give the names of those ministers to the chief minister.” He also said that if the problems of MLAs are not addressed then the government will have to face the conse- quences. We will not tolerate any imbalance in the distribution of funds and also not allow that injustice is done to our con- stituencies. Many ministers ask for monetary gains from the works carried out in our constituencies through thwe devel- opment fund. • 3. First India Bureau Mumbai: The Centre on Monday submitted an affidavit in the Bombay High Court, asserting its owner- ship and title over a land in the city’s Kan- jurmarg area, where the Maharashtra gov- ernment had proposed to construct a Metro car shed. It also claimed that a decree in the name of a pri- vate firm with respect to the land was ob- tained fraudulently and should be held as null and void. The Centre and the Maharashtra govern- ment are locked in a dis- pute over the ownership of the said land. The state government had proposed to construct a car shed for its Metro project on about 100 acre of the land. First India Bureau Mumbai: Parts of Ma- harashtra could see some pre-monsoon showers in the com- ing days. The mon- soon, which usually arrives in the state between June 05 and June 15, has been slightly delayed this year, weather service provider Skymet said on Monday. Tuesday could bring rain to parts of south Konkan and South Madhya Maharashtra, including the cities of Sangli and Satara, and their adjoining ar- eas, the weatherman predicts. Around June 08, rain spread and intensity will increase, and South Marathwada will also see some rainfall activi- ties. Konkan will re- main light and no rains will be seen over Vid- arbha. There could be some heavy spells in isolated pockets as well. On June 09, rains will be seen over parts of Vidarbha, but they will remain scattered and light to moderate in in- tensity . Rains will see a reduction in activities. Notably, Skymet highlights that these are merely pre-mon- soon showers. First India Bureau Mumbai: The Reserve Bank on Monday dis- missed reports that it was considering a pro- posal to replace the face of Mahatma Gan- dhi on currency notes. In a statement, the central bank said there are reports in certain sections of the media that the Reserve Bank of India is considering changes to the existing currency and bank- notes by replacing the face of Mahatma Gan- dhi with that of others. “It may be noted that thereisnosuchproposal in the Reserve Bank,” it said. There are certain re- ports suggesting the fi- nance ministry and the RBI were contemplating using the faces of other prominent Indians, in- cluding Rabindranath Tagore and APJ Abdul Kalam, on banknotes of certain denominations. First India Bureau Ahmedabad/Mumbai: Over 90% of the total land required for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project spread across Guja- rat, Maharashtra and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli has been ac- quired, the project's implementing agency NHSRCL said on Mon- day . Out of 1,396 hectares (ha) of land required for the project, 1,260.76 ha, or 90.31%, has been acquired as on June 5, said the National High- Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL), the spe- cial purpose vehicle formed to implement the project. As per details shared by the NHSRCL in a re- lease, 71.49% of the land required for the project in Maharashtra—310.14 ha of the required 433.82 ha of land across Mum- bai, Thane and Pal- ghar—has been ac- quired. R e p r e s e n t i n g Bhamre, advocate Sub- hash Jha told the court that it was unfortunate that this was happening to a young man in a state like Maharashtra, while “we are living in a democracy”. The bench noted that Bhamre was 22 years old, and said at this age there has to be some “responsibility”. “Every citizen has fundamental rights. But these are subject to re- strictions. Fundamental rights are not absolute. No one has the right to comment on someone else’s private life,” Jus- tice Shinde said. The bench directed the state government to file a progress report of probe against Bhamre. Advocate Jha then re- quested the court to pass an order releasing his client on bail. The judges, however, said such an order can- not be passed on the first date of hearing. People are most likely to forget unique things such as ghevar (an Indian sweet dish), flutes, Aadhaar cards, dumb- bells, a bike handle, cricket bats, spike guards, and college certificates, to name a few in their cabs. Uber released the 2022 edition of its Lost and Found Index, which is a snapshotof themostfre- quently forgotten items, the most forgetful cities, as well as the days of the week and times of the year when Uber riders tendtobemostforgetful. While Mumbai bagged the title of the most forgetful city in In- dia for the second time in a row, Delhi NCR and Lucknow were not far behind. Backed by rider insights and gigabytes of data, the index aims toeducateridersinafun yet informative manner about Uber’s in-app op- tions available to them at the tap of a button, in case they lose or forget something in their Uber during their trip. Over the last year, ob- jects, including phones, speakers/headphones, wallets and bags, top the list of items left in Ubers across India, fol- lowed by utility items such as groceries, ther- mos/water bottles and phone chargers. Of late, India hasbeengivingitbacktothemin equal measure. And that’s heart- ening to see. For far too long the US has taken on the role of a monitor while remaining oblivi- ous to the rights abuse in its own backyard.Noonequestionedthat role during the cold war days but the world is no longer the same. Countries like India and China are no longer poor countries and cannot be dictated to. Uncle Sam must recall former Prime Minis- ter Indira Gandhi’s snub to Pres- ident Richard Nixon and come to terms with an India which has grown more powerful and richer. Before pointing a finger at In- dia, the US should stop wanton killings of innocents, mostly Blacks and immigrants. After last month’s shooting in Texas in which 21 were killed, Presi- dent Joe Biden said America must act now. In response, more shootings followed. T hewidespreadout- rage over BJP spokespersons’ re- marks against Prophet Muham- mad should have a sobering effect on the politics of hate which the Bharatiya Janata Party practices directly and indirectly . It has tried to pla- cate Qatar, Kuwait, Iran and Saudi Arabia by reaching out to the respective governments and suspending national spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelling Naveen Kumar Jindal, theother.Clarifyingits position, the party stated that “BJPrespectsallreligionsand strongly denounces insult of any religious personalities”. Why Nupur was not ex- pelled is a question which the BJP will find difficult to an- swer and also leave its inten- tions on respect for all reli- gions open to doubt amid in- creasing claims over mosques andotherhistoricmonuments by the Hindus. Mere suspen- sion of Nupur hints at a pos- sible bigger role for her in the near future. What is baffling, however, is describing the two national spokespersons as “fringe elements”, especially in the case of Nupur who was even fielded by the BJP in Del- hi elections. Even this action is being condemned by BJP zealots, the real fringe ele- ments, who view it as suc- cumbing to Islamic forces. The BJP-led government is caught in a bind. On the one hand it has its fringe elements persistingwiththeiranti-Mus- lim rhetoric and on the other it has to keep the Gulf coun- tries in convinced about its religious tolerance. The Arab countries which form part of the Gulf Cooperation Council areIndia’smajorstrategicand trade partners. Also, the num- ber of Indians in these coun- tries is nearly 1.36 crore. Real- politik may force BJP to do some course-correction. BJP NEEDS TO CHECK “FRINGE” ELEMENTS Why Nupur was not expelled is a question which the BJP will find difficult to answer and also leave its intentions on respect for all religions open to doubt amid increasing claims over mosques and other historic monuments by the Hindus. Mere suspension of Nupur hints at a possible bigger role for her in the near future T NEVER FORGET THAT YOUR LIFE IS OF LIMITED TIME ntrepreneurs, Employees, and Students live in a con- tinuously stressful life, in today’s highly competitive era. Entrepreneurs want to achieve those turnovers and profit numbers. Corporate executives want to complete those targets. Students want to get good marks. House- wives have to continuously work for the ambition of hus- band and children. At this time one question arises, is the purpose of our life just to achieve ambitions like profit, money, designation, good scores? Let me give you an example of a small event. Oneverytensepersoncame to a very well known monk. The monk asked him the rea- son for coming. The person said “I am living a very trou- bled life. I am working very hard. I am working almost 18 hours a day . I am constantly engaged with thoughts of workthewholeday ,justsothat I could be superior to my col- leagues. But still, my col- leagues are one step ahead of me even today . I can’t achieve myambition.Mywifeandchil- dren are offended of me be- cause I don’t have time to spend with them. Please show me the path for a successful and happy life.” The monk lis- tened to him very quietly and asked him to come the next morning at the bank of the river. Second-day early morn- ing that person came to the bank of the river. Monk was already present there. Monk tookhimintotheriverandtold him to dive into it. With lots of amazement, the person did so. As he drowned his head into the water suddenly monk grabbed his head from the neck and kept it sub- merged in water. The person started panicking. He could not even breathe properly . As the person was about to die, the monk took his head out of the water. The person was so angry he started saying bad words to the monk. But the monk asked him humbly “What did you expe- rience while drowning in the water?” The person replied, “I could just think about how I can save my life” The Monk smiled and said “God has given you such a beautiful life. Only one thing is pre- decided and yet unknown and that is, the time of your death. Then why so many ambitions and why are you living a life full of stress? At that time that person got true guidance and after that started living his life happily . The ultimate moral is god gifted this valuable life to us only for one time. So, all of us should appreciate our life and enjoy it with maximum happiness. We should keep the stress of small problems aside and should try to live an excellent life. PRESENTING A FEW POINTS BELOW z Workload should be limited to our office time only. There is no need to bring work- stress to home. Time after office hours are for family and friends so use it wisely z Similarly, there is also no need to bring the stress of home to the office also. While being at office you should keep your focus at work at a 100 percent. Try to give your best and you will surely get success. z Whether you are a student or a housewife, there is no need to take unnecessary stress. Whatever you do, do it with a cheerful mind. Low grades don’t matter, what matters is your intelligence and ardor, which will help you in identi- fying new directions. z Never forget that your life is of limited time. So work in such a way that the society and your friends will remember you. THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL E But the monk asked him humbly “What did you experience while drowning in the water?” The person replied, “I could just think about how I can save my life” The Monk smiled and said “God has given you such a beautiful life. Only one thing is pre-decided and yet unknown and that is, the time of your death. Then why so many ambitions and why are you living a life full of stress? Corporate executives want to complete those targets. Students want to get good marks. Housewives have to continuously work for the ambition of husband and children. JDU leader and Chief Minis- ter Nitish Kumar had given a very clear indi- cation that he is not go- ing to give ticket to the Union Minister and Ra- jya Sabha MP of his party - RCP Singh. Then there was talk that BJP can give ticket to RCP, but the BJP did not want to upset Nitish under any circumstances. The BJP was apprehensive that Nitish was betting on the BJP on the pre- text of RCP and if the BJP took any step in re- sponse, Nitish might once again go with the RJD. That is why BJP too ignored RCP . Despite this, BJP took care of politics and gave ticket to Shambhu Sharan Patel. Shambhu Sharan Patel is not an old leader associated with any Sangh or BJP, rather he was earlier in JDU. But his most strik- ing feature is that he comes from the Dhanuk caste, which is similar to the Kurmi caste of both the CM and RCP. The majority of the pop- ulation in the Kurmi community is of Dha- nuks. BJP played a gam- ble by giving ticket from a member of that com- munity . Nitish Kumar countered BJP’s move and gave ticket to JDU’s Jharkhand president Khiru Mahto. He is also Kurmi and will work for the politics of around 17 per cent Kurmi popula- tion of Jharkhand. BJP practices Kurmi politics in Jharkhand through its ally Sudesh Mahto’s AJSU.NowJDUhasalso played its hand there. Will Nitish accomplish his vision of countering BJP? lll The BJP was apprehensive that Nitish was betting on the BJP on the pretext of RCP and if the BJP took any step in response, Nitish might once again go with the RJD RAHUL GANDHI TO VISIT MOOSE WALA’S NATIVE VILLAGE TODAY Moose Wala had joined Congress in December, just months before Punjab elections New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit Mansa on Tuesday to meet the family of Punjabi sing- er and party leader Sid- hu Moose Wala who was killed by assailants in Jawaharke village of the district on May 29. Party sources said that Gandhi will first visit Chandigarh and then visit Mansa in Punjab. “Congress leader Ra- hul Gandhi will visit Mansa in Punjab to meet the family of sing- er and party leader Sid- hu Moose Wala. Accord- ing to the information received, Rahul Gandhi will reach Chandigarh by flight tomorrow morning. After that, he will go to the village of Moose Wala,” a source said. Earlier on Monday, former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot visited Moose Wala’s house. Punjab Police last week reconstituted Spe- cial Investigation Team (SIT) to expedite the in- vestigations in the mur- der of Shubhdeep Sin- gh Sidhu, known as Sidhu Moose Wala. In the recently held Punjab state elections, Moose Wala was the Congress candidate from Mansa. He was, however, defeated by the Aaam Aadmi Party candidate. MOOSE WALA KILLING: COPS ARREST THIRD SUSPECT FROM HARYANA The Punjab Police has arrested another person in connection with the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, taking the number of peo- ple held in the case so far to three. Davinder alias Kala was nabbed on Sunday evening from Haryana’s Fatehabad. Two suspects involved in the killing had allegedly stayed with him police sources said on Monday. On June 3, two other suspects were nabbed by the Punjab Police from Fatehabad and their roles in Moosewala’s killing were being probed. Two days after the killing of Moosewala in Mansa district, the Punjab Police on Tuesday made the first arrest in this case. LAWRENCE BISHNOI QUESTIONED OVER LETTER TO SALMAN KHAN Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, whose name recently emerged during the investigations of Sidhu Moose Wala’s killing, has now been linked to another high-profile case. The gangster, who is lodged in prison, was questioned by the police on Monday in connection with the threat letter addressed to actor Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan. Meanwhile, the security given to Khan was beefed up after a threat letter was found near his residence Sunday morning. According to the let- ter accessed by The In- dian Express, the “like- ly targets of execution could be Bathinda jail, Ferozepur jail, Amrit- sar jail or Ludhiana jail”. The development comes few days after Punjab witnessed back- to-back incidents of vi- olence and security breach, allegedly planned and executed by the gangsters operat- ing from abroad with the help of local crimi- nals, including murder of kabaddi player Sand- eep Singh Nangal Am- bian on March 14, RPG attack on police intelli- gence. HQs in Mohali on May 9 and gruesome killing of singer-rapper Sidhu Moosewala on May 29. Rinda, a wanted ter- rorist-gangster consid- ered close to BKI chief Wadhawa Singh and ‘being protected’ by the ISI in Pakistan, is a close associate of Lakh- vir Singh Landa, a gangster hiding in Can- ada and the key con- spirator of RPG attack on Punjab Police’s intel- ligence HQs, said Pun- jab Police. Talking about the beautiful legacy of the north-eastern state of Manipur with diverse culture, Birla lauded the efforts with which Manipur was striving forward in the field of development. “The north-eastern state of Manipur is the doorway to the south- east and is also of a cru- cial part of India’s Act East policy,” Birla said. Norovirus: Centre asks Kerala for reports New Delhi: Amid two confirmed cases of the norovirus infection be- ing reported from Kera- la, the Union health ministry has asked the State Surveillance Of- fice (SSO) to submit a detailed report in the matter, official sources said on Monday . Norovirus is a viral illness that is the most common cause of acute gastroenteritis globally . Symptoms of norovirus include acute onset di- arrhoea and vomiting. Emerging evidence sug- gests that the norovirus infection is associated with intestinal inflam- mation, malnutrition and may cause long- term morbidity, an offi- cial explained. Mahesh Sharma New Delhi: The story of the ‘dog walker’ IAS couple is a much dis- cussed topic these days, not just in bureaucrat- ic circles but in the gen- eral public too. The ‘dog walker’ IAS cou- ple, it is alleged, used to vacate the Thyagaraj Stadium in Delhi for ‘morning walk’. Ath- letes exercising and practicing in the stadi- um were asked to va- cate the stadium before 7:30 so that the officials could walk around with the dog. An Eng- lish newspaper re- vealed this and in a hurry, the government transferred both of them and sent the hus- band to Ladakh and the wife to Arunachal Pradesh. This decision of the government was highly praised in social media and a lot of memes were also made. But the question is whether both have been sent to Ladakh andArunachalPradesh as punishment for a big mistake? Officers liv- ing in Delhi generally refer to postings in these states as punish- ment posting or com- pulsion posting. But in reality these two areas are the most sensitive areas for India. China has an eye on both Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh and its sol- diers keep infiltrating these areas every day. China is trying to change the geography of these two areas and is also plotting to change the population structure or regional structure. Therefore, it is extremely dangerous proposition if such a sensitive state is being made a dumping ground as a punish- ment posting. As a rule, only the best of the best officers should be sent to these two areas. Are Ladakh and Arunachal regions now only a dumping ground of officials? Mumbai (PTI): Credit ratings agency Icra on Monday revised up- ward its projection of international air pas- senger traffic at Indian airports at 80-85% of the pre-pandemic vol- umes during this fiscal. The volume of such travellers has already touched 72% of the pre- Covid level in May . The steep recovery in international passen- gers’ demand came on the back of resumption of scheduled flight op- erations in late March in the wake of easing of travel restrictions norms and resilient passenger demand. Major destinations driving the internation- al traffic demand are Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Eu- rope, it said. Commercial opera- tions of international flights resumed on March 27 after a hiatus of two years amid COV- ID-19 pandemic. During that period internation- al operations were lim- ited to countries through special flights under the ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ and bi- lateral ‘air transport bubble’ agreements with several countries. The ramp-up is healthy with interna- tional passenger traffic reaching 63% and 72% of pre-Covid levels (similar period in 2019) in April and May, re- spectively, this year compared to the recov- ery of less than 50% to that of pre-pandemic levels during FY22, the ratings agency said. Icra said it also ex- pects the ramp-up in the overall passenger traf- fic to 96-97% of the pre- Covid levels in FY23 on the back of a strong and sharp recovery in do- mestic passenger traffic and the resumption of international commer- cial operations. The recovery in do- mestic passenger traffic was strong post-Omi- cron and has reached 98% of pre-Covid levels in April and May, it said, adding, overall, passenger traffic has reached 93% of pre- Covid levels in May . “Resumption of in- ternational commercial operations has acceler- ated the traffic recov- ery. Considering the healthy ramp-up in in- ternational traffic in the last two months, Icra expects interna- tional traffic to reach 80-85% of the pre-Covid level in FY23 as against earlier estimates of 70- 75%,” said Abhishek Lahoti, senior analyst, for corporate ratings at Icra. Further, as expect- ed, the recovery of do- mestic passenger traffic was sharp and much faster post-Omicron, he said.
