9. History:
PakTelecom Mobile Limited (PTML) or ufone is a Pakistan GSM
cellular services provider. It was the third mobile operator to enter
Pakistani market. It started its operations under the brand name
ufone, in Islamabad on January 29,2001.
PTML(ufone) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pakistan
Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL). Following PTCL’s
privatization, Ufone became part of the Etisalat in 2006.
Ufone is among the largest GSM mobile services provider and fourth
largest mobile services in term of subscriber base of over 24 million.
It has a market share of 18% among mobile operators.

Budgeting.This is been reviewed in board meeting every six month.

This is yearly plan, submitted by chief officers to CEO ufone and he
submitted a consolidated plan for the year to the board.This been
reviewed by the CEO in monthly/weekly meetings. And every quarter
by the board.

▪ As ufone is a network of youth, middle and lower class so it gives much
more better packages that are cheap and affordable to middle class and the
youth.

branches in over all Pakistan. So, they have large no. and franchises
for employee and also a ufone tower in their organization and
facilitate their employees.

networks where Pakistanis are in a great number such as gulf sates
and etc.

▪ According to ufone they have 3G service as strength. Because they
have very good response of 3G service when they launch and till now
they have very good response.They have large no. of users who use
their 3G service and appreciate them.

▪ They have no. of users in subscriber who are old persons (above 50
ages).These persons use their services. Because they loved Pakistan
and ufone is home grown industry. So, they promote their home
grown industry.
24. Home Grown Industry:
According to ufone they are home grown industry/organization. Because
this is the 1st telecommunication industry who born/build in Pakistan by
PTCL and PTML.
Wining projects:
Universal Service Fund (USF) and Ufone today entered into a Rs. 3.73 Billion
contract for provision of Mobile Broadband Internet/ 3G services in Khuzdar
and Chagai areas of Balochistan.
It is noteworthy to mention here that through these Broadband for
Sustainable Development Projects, districts of Nal, Khuzdar, Aaranji, Wadh,
Saroona, Mula, Ornach, Zaehri and districts of Dal Bandin,Taftan and
Mashkhel in Chagai lot will be served.

Unable to meet the customers demand which is Ufone’s biggest
weakness:
It has many franchises in the whole country but as its customers are
increasing day by day so its present franchises are not enough to
fulfill the needs of it customers.
Call rates from ufone to ufone is very cheap but to other networks its
rates are expensive.
26. Weakness:
4G service:
Ufone does not have 4G service while all other celluar networks have
4G service in Pakistan.This is one of the major drawbacks of ufone as
4G demand is increasing day by day in country.
But Ufone is hope ful to take 4G license as soon as possible.
Poor quality in hill areas:
Ufone has the problem of voice quality and signal problems in hilly
areas.Though ufone is planning to increase its quality but it can’t
compete with other networks in market.

They can start their services in other cities of Pakistan.
As they are the subsidiary of Pakistan telecommunication limited,
they can acquire as much fund needed to improve their technology.

4G smartphones:
▪ Ufone have opportunity over 4G. because the 4G mobile phone are
expensive. And the 3G mobile phones are available in low cost in
market upto 7000-10000 the 3G supported phones are available.
Profit:
▪ Ufone make more profit by running 3G service. Because ufone
recover the payment that he pays for 3G service and now he able to
make profit by providing best 3G service to their users.

The ufone have threat form telecom industries like Jazz,
Warid,Telenor, Zong.
The decreasing economy rate and instability of Pakistan.
Boosting customer of warid and zong.

▪ The competitors of ufone have 4G service ufone have
threat from their competitors. Because ufone have no 4G
service. Ufone feel if the Mobile companies made 4G
supported smartphones in large no. so, the users of ufone
left the ufone service and start using 4G services of the
other organization.

▪ The main threat for ufone is JAZZ and WARID. Because
now Jazz and warid combined. Jazz purchase the warid.
And now also jazz have 4G service and the no. of user
increase day by day.

▪ Now there is new threat for ufone is that, the competitors
of ufone now introducing 3G & 4G WiFi and chargeable
devices (cloudes).so, the users of the ufone is interacting
