2. What were your favourite features about
the music video?
Most people said that because it was
different to everyone else’s it was
more interesting to watch. For
example most people did music
videos as stories, this was a simple
cover video to the song superstition
by Stevie Wonder which may have
intrigued people. As my music video
was last minute (change of plan) the
way I handled the aspect of the
video was well done. Although the
location wasn’t how I would of liked it
by using different shots/ scenery this
seemed to make it slightly better and
interesting rather than it being all in
one room.
• Variety of lots of different shots
• The fact it was a cover was
original
• Different to everyone else’s
• Shots of instrument (guitar)
• Colours all matched
3. What were the strengths and weaknesses
of the music video?
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
•
Lots of different shots
•
Location
•
Use of instruments are
actually being played
•
The way everything is set
up
•
The colours in the room
bring out the subject of
the video.
•
Repetitive
•
No story to it
The fact that it was
recorded live
•
Camera quality wasn’t
good
•
As the music video was a last minute cover the location and plot
seem to look slightly rushed. However the shots were well
thought out as they were shots I was going to use in the previous
thought video. The audience picked up on this and also picked
up on the fact that the instruments were actually being played
properly.
4. What genre would this type of music go
under?
Out of the 20 people I asked the majority of people thought that the genre of the
music video was under indie-rock because of the guitar used. As my music video
was an indie-pop indicated video this seemed to confuse the audience as indie-rock
and indie-pop are two very similar genres of music and even though my magazine
advertisement and digipack are strongly related to this genre as this video wasn’t
well thought out it didn’t seem to fit.

5. What was your opinion on the place it was
filmed in?
Mostly the majority of the audience
didn’t like the location of where the video
was set because of the messy
arrangement. Some of the audience
mentioned that it looked slightly out of
place as the video genre was indie-pop
and the setting was completely different.
Whilst I was showing the audience the
video one of them mentioned that the
shots with the orange background
worked really well because of the
quirkiness of the ensemble. However I
used 3 other locations in the house to
film and these didn’t work out so well. I
also didn’t think to move any
background clutter from the rooms to
make it more professional and this
seemed to be an issue as well.
• Was the worst part about
the video
• The background clutter
ruined it
• Could have been more
thought out
• Location seemed messy
6. What improvements would you make?
Finally I asked the audience what
improvements could be made to
my music video and the key thing
that people wanted me to improve
was definitely the location. The
camera quality was also a
problem, this was because my
canon 600d was too fast for the SD
so luckily I brought my other hand
held camera that I used for my
prelim music video. Although the
quality was low I am thankful for
this otherwise I would of got
nothing. The cover song was also a
recurring improvement but the
cover of Superstition was made
into a little jamming session to
ensure it was more to the genre I
needed.
• Location (where to
film)
• More interesting
(visually)
• Better thought out
• Not a cover (use an
actual song)
• Better camera quality
