2. Process I made a still image of a side-scrolling game in
gameplay. The idea of the game was to get to
class in time whilst dodging items in the
hallways. The players would have 3 lives and a
certain time limit to get to class. Each level gets
harder with less time and more items to
dodge.
I made my first experiment on Adobe
Photoshop CC and I'm pleased with the
outcome. I made this experiment very detailed
because I wanted the more cartoon feel rather
than pixelated feel to the game.
I made a simple theme music for this
experiment, due to the more detailed content I
chose a simple repeated tune for the theme
music.
3. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you include in your final
product?
I originally wanted to make a very simple game in terms of design but
after experimenting with a more detailed design with my experiment I
enjoyed to process and know want to make something a little bit more
complex. Also I think I'm not going to make a side-scrolling game with
some actions taking place due to now choosing a more detailed design
needs a more detailed content.
I like the theme music I made for the first experiment , as the simplicity
worked with the detailed game. I'd make something like this one ,
simple yet effective, for my final product.
4. Process
I created my second experiment using Adobe
Photoshop CC. I wanted to have one of my
experiments as a puzzle game as in the
beginning that’s what I chose to make but after
making a puzzle game and a side-scrolling
game, I like the more detailed design idea
better as I think that’s where I'm strongest, in
production itself so I want to apply more time
and effort to the production side of my project.
My second piece of audio is faster and more
repetitive than the first as the 3 match game is
the same screen the whole game I didn’t want
a build up in the theme music.
5. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you include in your final product?
I plan on using the idea of colour carefully. I want to colours to be highlighted
and therefore will think and plan my design before starting production. If I
was to make a version of this experiment for my final product I would make
sure the sixing of the grid all adds up evenly as during my experiment this
held me back as I kept getting the measurements wrong due to guess work.
I didn’t want building up in the theme music. Therefore in retaliation to
these decisions I ended up with a fairly annoying theme music and I certainly
know I don't want annoying like this audio in my final product. Its too fast
and too repetitive for my liking.
