The large proportion of those who completed my
questionnaire were females aged 17. The oldest person to
complete my questionnaire was 20. The reason for this is
because I wanted to target the late-teen age category due
to the rise in teenagers.
The majority of people did not know of a regional magazine
in their area. Therefore, it has motivated me to create my
own regional magazine that will be known in the area.
Regional magazine are not the most popular style of
magazine due to the niche audience. However, the style of
magazine i want to create doesn’t necessarily have to be
just news or information more so, fashion and talent.
Only one person who answered no to the previous question
was not interested in a regional magazine. However, the
majority were with some commenting “it will be
interesting.” This is encouraging information.
Those that answered Yes to being aware of a regional
magazine all said “The Gazette” which in fact is a local
newspaper which can be purchased at the local shops.

The overall majority of people were interested in finding out
about new talent within their area. This was a topic which I
heavily considered as being the main idea for my magazine.
I will entail my magazine to ensue that those that weren’t
interested may find something within the magazine that will
attract them.
The responses were fairly close with the majority preferring
“equal amounts of text and images” but closely followed
was “more images than texts.” I will take on board this
information and look at including more images alongside
the text but ensuring it still looks organised.
The large proportion said they would like pastel colour
theme. I was originally leaning towards to the neutral colour
scale however, due to pastel colours being fairly faint I could
incorporate these colours in the magazine.

If no why?
The response to this question were almost equal with
people the popularity of purchasing magazines. Those that
said yes mentioned magazines such as Elle/Vogue which are
more fashion based, with sport and gossip being a close
second. I was look to include fashion in my magazine so this
information is positive.
Those that did not purchase magazines said it was because
they hadn’t found magazine that interested them or was
worth the money. Being of the age of students the price is
important (I later talk about the price response.) This
information has inspired me to ensure I create a magazine
that would be of interested at a reasonable price or a price
which reflects the magazine.

Would you like this magazine to
have an online presence?
Most people would happily pay between £2 and £3 for a
magazine although a few said between £1 and £2. This
means the majority would prefer a magazine closer to price
point of £2. This information can be crucial in the success of
my magazine.
The response to this question was varied. However the
majority said they like the community aspect of their area.
This compliments well with the idea of talent being the
main idea behind the magazine as they will be made aware
of new/established talent in the area and feel a part of a
community.
The response to this question had an overwhelming
majority. This reflects the day in age which we live in where
technology has taken over. I am also creating a website
alongside the magazine and therefore this should suit their
needs/wants. As well as a website I am also going to
incorporate aspects of social media in which the public can
interact more with the magazine and find out
news/information about upcoming events and editions.

What would you like a website to include? Any that
apply?
Images Extra content not present in the magazine
Tutorials Information about the magazine
local news
Any additional comments?
Competition
Most people would like to see tutorials and images on the
website. I was looking to create some face paint tutorials
which show how to create certain looks to encourage others
to take up a new skill. This information has just reinforced
this idea and built my confidence in my decisions.
The only additional comment suggested about the prospect
of having competitions in the magazine for the area. This is
an idea which I didn’t think of but is definitely something I
will consider.
