9. What is NextGen?
• NextGen is a series of FAA Sponsored programs focused on evolving
the National Airspace (NAS) to safely increase efficiencies and capacity.
• These programs represent an evolution from a ground-based system of
air traffic control to a satellite-based system of air traffic management
• ERAU is a Trusted NextGen Partner with an 8-Year legacy and a 5-year
contract extension until 2018 to lead the Florida Test Bed.
– The Test bed conducts research, rapid prototyping and demonstrations of emerging
technologies for Air Traffic Management.
10.
11. NextGen Impacts and Results
• FAA estimates that NextGen will reduce total flight delays about 38 percent by
2020, while providing $24 billion in cumulative benefits to the traveling public,
aircraft operators, and the FAA.
• NextGen has produced over 10,000 jobs locally and Nationally to Private Industry,
Government and Academia.
• NextGen economic multipliers to downstream interests such as Hotels, Rental Car
Companies, Equipment Manufactures exceeds $10B.
• More direct routes are saving a minimum of 300 gallons of fuel per flight.
• Aircraft owners will save about 1.4 billion gallons of fuel by 2020, reducing carbon
dioxide emissions by 14 million tons.

Editor's Notes
The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide Office of Professional Education offers professional certificates, courses and training to individuals and corporate clients. OPE offers only not for credit coursework, but Continuing Education Units are offered for most courses.
The Embry-Riddle Professional Education website, seen at the bottom of the slide lists the most current course offerings. Some examples of our courses are listed on this slide, to include online ground schools, the NBAA approved Corporate Aviation Manager Certificate, UAS Seminars – with the next two day seminar taking place in Las Vegas on 29 and 30 January, a Cargo Logistics Management Certificate done in conjunction with IATA, with the first two courses available now, with the remaining four courses being offered at a later date and business, law and finance courses.
We have a deep base of faculty that also allows us to create customer courses to meet corporate training requests.
Future course offerings will include certificates in risk management and a NextGen 101 seminar. (next slide)
The NextGen 101 seminar will be offered in conjunction with ERAU NextGen Programs. The two day seminar covering technical aspects, business considerations, international and military topics is planned for April 21 and 22 in Washington D.C.
Government and Industry Employees, Aviation Stakeholders and members of the military aviation community are encouraged to attend.
More details about the course and registration information will be posted in the near future on the ERAU professional education website listed on the bottom of the slide.
In addition to the website, the OPE staff can be contacted via email or phone as listed on the slide.
