It is important to complete each section to meet the goals and objectives of

5. YSU Assessment
Check for Understanding
The Check for Understanding quizzes are for
formative assessment purposes.
The goal of this quiz is to collect data on your learning while it is happening.
• If you do not do well on the quiz, please review the Learn content again
and reassess. The quizzes are set for unlimited attempts.
The goal for each check for understanding quiz should be 85% or higher.
6. YSU Assessment
Assignments
Each module contains an assignment.
Assignments are due by Sunday night at midnight.
Module 1 Assignment: Defining/describing assessment terms
The purpose of this assignment is for you to become familiar with the “academic language” of assessment.
1. Define the terms (see attached document in folder).
2. Do NOT just use a dictionary. Write the definition in your own words.
3. You must understand the term well enough to describe/give examples of it.
4. Descriptions and/or examples should be part of your definition.
5. ½ point for correct definition and examples; ½ point for defining in own words (25 points).
6. Complete the Robust Vocabulary Strategy template provided on Bb.

Discussion Boards
Discussions count as class attendance each week
• Please respond to the discussion question by Thursday at 11:59 p.m.
and follow up with 2 classmates by Saturday, 11:59 p.m.
• Your posts need to be thoughtful, on topic, demonstrate an
understanding of the topic and help move the discussion forward.
Week 1 Prompt:
You have taken many written tests in your career as a student both at the P-12 level and
in college.
• How well do you think those tests reflect your knowledge and skills related to the
content?
• Please explain your answer
8. YSU Assessment
Attendance & Class
• Attendance Policy
• YSU allows for two absence in a semester.
• Cell Phones must be out of sight and on silent during class.
• It is imperative to your learning and the learning of your peers that
you are in class and submitting assignments on time.
9. YSU Assessment
Take Care of Yourself
How do you eat an elephant?
• One bite at a time.
How do you complete a 15-week assessment course?
• The same way, one module at a time.
Create a schedule where you can do a little bit every day or every other day.
Don’t wait to complete assignments until the last minute and stress yourself.
If you get frustrated, walk away for little bit and then come back, reread the
directions and try again.
You have a support system here at Youngstown, don’t hesitate to reach out.
