About the Author
Dr. Betty McDonald is currently The Coordinator of The Centre for Assessment
and Learning at The University of Trinidad and Tobago. She has been a Visiting
Professor to many universities including Huazhong Normal University, China
and The University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. As a Visiting Scholar to
universities in London, Manchester, Sydney and Toronto, she has done collab-
orative research with many colleagues. She has worked in senior positions in
Barbados, The Bahamas and New York and has served on several government
appointed committees. A recipient of various awards including a UNESCO
Award for outstanding contribution to education, a Fulbright Fellow and
member of AERA, NCME, CRESST, ASCD and UNA-USA, she has close to 40
years of experience and is widely published. With numerous presentations and
technical reports to her credit, she is a reviewer and associate editor for several
international journals. Many local and international graduates continue to
benefit from her supervision. Extremely active in her community she attends to
a number of local charities. Measurement, assessment, Problem Based Learn-
ing (PBL), Service Learning (SL), teaching and learning, applied statistics,
mathematics education, project management and professional development
are her research interests.
