5. Introduction

Fires are among the most important form of problems. Robot industry has a
lot of work in this area. So today robot is more commonly used to reduce the
human efforts. The need of Fire Sensing Robot that can detect and extinguish
a fire on its own. Robotics is one of the fastest growing engineering fields of
today. Robots are designed to remove the human factor from labour intensive
or dangerous work and also to act in inaccessible environment. With the
invention of such a device, lives and property can be saved with minimal
damage caused by the fire. As an engineer’s we have to design a prototype
that could autonomously detect the fire and extinguish it. The Fire Fighter
Sensing is designed to search for a fire in the house or industry for extinguish
the fire.
6. Robot
Robot exactly, is a system that contains
sensors, control systems, manipulators,
power supplies, and software all working
together to perform a task. Designing,
building, programming and testing a robot is a
combination of physics, mechanical
engineering, electrical engineering, structural
engineering, mathematics and computing.
7. Software And Hardware
Requirements
Software Tools:
WINAVR to compile the source file and generate the hex
code.
AVR Studio 4.18
AT Prog to programmer the microcontroller
Hardware Tools:
AVR Microcontroller
Gas detector.
Buzzer circuit
9. Micro Controller
The micro controller is the most important of the
design - acts as the brain for robot
Interfaces all sensors and motors
Contains all code for robot operations
Here we use 8 bit micro controller of the avr family
Here we use atmega 8 micro controller
10. Atmega&-features
• The ATmega8 is a low-power CMOS 8-bit
microcontroller
• Advanced RISC Architecture
• High Endurance Non-volatile Memory segments
• External and Internal Interrupt Sources
• Five Sleep Modes: Idle, ADC Noise Reduction, Power-
save, Power-down, and Standby
11. Smoke sensor and dc motor
• Sensors are used to collect information about the
internal state of ROBOT or to communicate with
external environment.
• Motors are the devices that provide the actual speed
and torque in a drive system.
13. Working
• When the flame or high temperature point is detected,
the Robot motion will stop automatically and indicates
fire has been detected.
• Then the Signals from the sensors are sent to the
computer terminal and it activates the fire preventive
system.
• This is movement based robot. It used to sense the fire
and spreads the water over that direction.
• In this, we use RF communication to communicate
between robot and control room that is placed in a
remote place.
14. Future Scope
• The project has been motivated by the desire to design
a system that can detect fires and take appropriate
action, without any human intervention.
• This provides us the opportunity to pass on to robots
tasks that traditionally humans had to do but were
inherently life-threatening. Fire-fighting is an obvious
candidate for such automation
