PR20 InterviewAnalysis
For the final aspect of my assignment I am going to review my interview with my teacher Paul Rossington
while frequentlymakingreference tothe surveyIconducted onsurveymonkey.Inaddition, withinmy survey
I conducteda total amountof nine questionswhichfocusedondifferent aspects of my interview such as the
style. I also sent my questionnaire out to multiple audience profiles who I knew therefore, broadeni ng my
surveys answers and opinions. Before I go into analysis, I thoroughly believe the answers I received off my
demographic audience profiles will improve my next interview with an interviewee because Iâll be able to
improve aspects which I didnât execute knowledgeably and professionally.
Q1:
Furthermore,the firstquestionIaskedonmysurveywas;âDo youthinkmy interviewadheredtothe needsof
my demographic target audience (parents)?â In addition, I think this particular was used effectively on my
surveybecause byaskingthisquestionIwill essentiallyfindoutif myinterview would appeal to my intended
demographic target audience which were predominantly parents. As you can see above, a total amount of
nine respondentsansweredthisquestion andall of themagreed as they answered with âYesâ (100%). When I
viewed this question at the end I was fairly surprised as I thought some of the questions I asked were
irrelevant. Despite this particular fact, I therefore believe if my interview was broadcasted on the correct
radio station or show it should substantially appeal to my demographic target audience.

Q2:
In contrast,as you can see above isthe secondquestionwhichIdisplayedonmyquestionnaire. The question
whichI askedwasâDo youthink my interview would broadcast effectively on E6 radio news?â for those who
that donât know E6 radio is Eccles Sixth Form Centres radio station and it broadcasts out mainly to students
within the college as well as some of the teachers present. In addition, a total amount of nine respondents
answeredmysecondquestionand 100% of them answered with âYesâ. In conclusion, I therefore thoroughly
believeif myinterview wastobroadcastonE6 radio at some time inthe day whenthe college ismostpopular
it would substantially appeal towards the demographic audience profiles within Eccles Sixth Form Centre.

Q3:
Additionally, as you can see above I have once again placed another image which shows the context of my
thirdquestiononmysurvey. The thirdquestionIaskedwas; âWhich style of news do you think my interview
adheredto?âI particularlywantedtoaskthisquestionbecause before I interviewed my interviewee I had to
selectastyle of newstherefore; I wanted to check if I portrayed the style I chose. As you can see above, the
answers were split between two different answers which are âHard news and âInvestigativeâ. In terms of
statistics two people (22.22%) answered with âHard newsâ and seven people (77.78%) answered with
âInvestigativeâ. In addition, the style which I selected before my interview in pre-production was an

investigativestyle therefore,the majorityof myrespondentsansweredcorrectly.Due tothisfact,I believemy
questions and communication skills within my interview portrayed the correct style of news as most of my
audience answeredcorrectly. However,I can see why two of my respondents answered with âHard newsâ as
thisstory mightaffectthem badly therefore, making them want this story to go to the top of the line so it is
dealtwith as soon as possible. Also I wanted to select this style of interview because I felt by doing this my
demographictargetaudience wouldhave aninsightintothe substantialcutswhichthe conservativeparty are
makingcurrentlytodisability,NHSandmultiple otherfundstherefore,leavingdisabledfeeling discriminated
withinparticular schools across the United Kingdom. To conclude, I expected to receive answers like this in
my hypothesis predominantly due to the types and styles of my questions as they formally attacked the
conservative (tory) party.
Q4:
Furthermore, as you can see above I have displayed the fourth question which I asked on my survey
conductedonsurveymonkey. The fourthquestionIaskedwhich I believed worked effectively on my survey
was âDo you think my interview was structured correctly?â I wanted to ask this question because if I was to
produce and structure another interview I would know what to do and not what to do therefore, possibly
fromreceivingthese answersIwill nowbe able toconduct a better interview in the future when I am asked.
In addition, asyoucan see above the answersonthe questionwere fairlyone sidedasatotal amountof eight
respondents (88.89%) answered with âYesâ and one respondent (11.11%) answered with âNoâ. Therefore,
from these particular answers I can tell that the majority of my audience thought the structure of my
interview was good however, as one respondent answered with âNoâ, within my next interview I will try to
adhere tothat audiencesneedsasIâmsure if I were substantiallyincrease my survey respondents more than
5. DeclanTyldesley
one would have answered with âNoâ. In conclusion, I therefore believe this answer has impacted on me
substantially when I come to execute my next interview.
Q5:
In addition, the fifth question on my survey asked my audience this; âDo you think my communication skills
(building report) were used effectively within my interviewee with my interviewee?â I wanted to ask this
questionbecause if I found out that I used the wrong communication skills I could then work on that for my
nextinterview so I could improve substantially. Furthermore, a total amount of eight respondents (88.89%)
answered with âYesâ and one respondent (11.11%) out of nine answered with âNoâ. Due to these particular
answers I know within my next interview that I just need to slightly adjust my communication skills so I can
adhere to the needs of a much broader target audience. Therefore, by doing this my interview should gain
maximumcoverage frommydemographictargetaudience.Toconclude this,Istill thoroughlybelieve thatthe
communicationskillswithinmyinterview were usedeffectivelywithmyinterviewee as I managed to receive
some great answers.

Q6:
In contrast, for the sixth question on my survey I decided to focus on one of my questions which I asked
within my interview as I was unsure on whether or not it worked effectively within. The question I asked
towardsmy audience was;âJohnny Mercer a tory backbencher said âwe must look after our most vulnerable
at everyturn.No doubtthe welfare spendisstilltoo high,butforthose whoreallyneedit,itisa lifelineâ.Even
thoughtory backbenchersare goingagainstthese cuts;whydocuts still continue to be made prominently by
George Osbourne?â â Do you think this open-ended question was used effectively within my interview?â In
addition, once I viewed the answers for this question I was fairly surprised as all nine respondents (100%)
answeredwithâYesâ. Therefore, these particularanswersonthe otherhand loweredmy suspicion overall as I
was notifiedthatthiswasan effectiveandinformative questionwithinmyinterview. To conclude, I think this
question was used effectively in my survey as I slightly supported the tory party while also attacking their

chancellor (George Osbourne). Therefore, if any tory party supporters were listening they wouldnât have
been driven away from the interview as I was fully investigating the conservative party cuts.
Q7:
Furthermore, the seventh question displayed on my survey focused predominantly on the purpose of my
interview. The question which I asked my respondents was; âDo you think the purposes of my interview
(informational, expressing opinion and interpretive), appealed effectively towards my target audience?â I
wantedtoask thisparticularquestionbecause I wasonce againunsure if my interview purposewould appeal
towardsmy targetaudience soinorderto adhere to all of my target audience Ifollowedoff multiple different
purposeswhich I stated within the question. In addition, the answers I received off this particular question
were also unexpected as a total amount of nine respondents (100%) answered with âYesâ. As all of my
respondents approved of the purposes of my interview I therefore, thoroughly believe that my intended
target audience wouldadhere substantially well towards my interview. In conclusion, I believe the answers
off this particular question have increased my confidence in pre-production as I selected all of the correct
purposes for my interview surrounding the circumference of the education industry.

Q8:
Additionally, for the eighth question on my questionnaire I wanted to predominantly focus on my question
types because if I asked a question surrounding this aspect it will let me know if my questions were used
effectively. The questionIaskedwasâDoyouthinkmy broadquestiontypeswere used effectively within my
interview?â also, once I reviewed the answers for this specific question I was slightly surprised as a total
amount of nine respondents (100%) answered with âYesâ. This on the other hand, proved to me that my
questionswere usedeffectively astheyadheredsubstantiallytowardsmy demographical target audience. In
conclusion, I wanted to ask this question because within my interview I prominently used open-ended
questions and I wanted to check if any of the respondents thought I should have used more types of
questions such as directional. However, as no one complied with this I have therefore, developed my
confidence substantially forfuture interviews surrounding different up-coming or established news stories.

Q9:
In contrast, for myfinal questiononmysurveyIdecidedtofocuson the interviewee which I selected for this
particularinterview.Inaddition, forthose whodonotknow for my interview I decided to question a teacher
on whydisabledchildrenare left feeling discriminated as I used this subject I decided to follow upon to the
conservative party and the amount of cuts they are making to disabled children benefits and the NHS. In
addition, the question I asked was âFinally, do you think I selected the correct interviewee for my chosen
subject(disabledchildrenleftfeelingdiscriminated)?â once Ireviewedthe questionsanswers I found out that
a total amountof nine respondents(100%) answeredwithâYesâ. Therefore, all of myrespondentsagreed that
I selectedthe correctinterviewee. However,IwishIwouldhave placed within the question who else do you
think would be a good interviewee. In addition, if I was to answer that question I would probably say a
conservative party MP. To conclude, despite this fact I am still happy with the interviewee I chose for this
particular interview.
In myoverall conclusion, Ithoroughlybelieve thatall of the questions within my survey were relevant as the
majority of them managed to substantially increase my confidence for future interviews possibly within
university. Therefore,Iamincrediblyproudof myoutcome fromthisunitasI now know what I am capable of
within radio news production. The only aspect which I would push on my self was to possibly select a more
effective interviewee such as a conservative party politician (MP). For example, I could have interviewed
DavidRutley whoisthe MP of Macclesfieldashe wouldhave hada thoroughknowledgeonthisspecifictopic.
