2. What did i do? For my primary research, Idecided to do a questionnaire. In the questionnaire I used a variety of open and closed questions. As people may not have alot of time to spare. I tried to keep the questionnaire as simple and short as possible, without loosing any vital research data. As my target audience is based around 16-21 year olds who use various forms of new and online media. I thought the best way to gather my data was to publish the document online and ask people to fill this in and return it. I then combined this with distributing them as hard copies to get some more results. I do know from first hand that the people who completed my questionnaire by hand do use online and new media forms. Also, the questionnaires that were distributed as hard copies were given to other students in my class, all studying A2 Media. This may help the reliability of my results as they may know a little more than the average person does. My research was done on 20 volunteering participants.
4. Age As you can see from the chart opposite, the vast majority of my target audience are around 17. Closely followed by those aged 16.
5. Do you enjoy watching horror/thriller films? A pretty good turn out. From this I have found that a large majority of my target audience do enjoy watching horror/thriller films. A fairly positive result! So my genre/product should go down pretty well!
6. Does the synopsis strike you as interesting? As you can see form the chart opposite, 100% of my audience find the synopsis as interesting!
7. When watching this sort of film, do you prefer to see eeriness or 'blood and guts'? From this I can clearly see that my product must not be just blood and guts. Eeriness is the way forward, although a good idea would be to combine both. Although both wasn’t the highest voted for, I quite like the idea and see opportunity for good ideas and development.
8. If this was made into a film, would you be interested in watching? Again, another very positive turn out. As you can see, 100% of my audience would be interested in seeing a full production of the synopsis.
18. The friend who passes the message on being the key part.
19. Is it coincidence? Or external forces at play? Man made or supernatural? How is it resolved? This shows that my idea must be good on some level.
20. Evaluation? The reliability of my results may be of question. This is because the questionnaire I produced was generally distributed to friends. So bias may be present, effecting some of the results I have collected. Although this does not effect the more important questions such as those on improvements etc. The nest steps involve me reviewing the comments in the improvements and changing the synopsis and future planning to match this ‘criteria’ given by my audience. Shaping my product to meet their expectations. I am also considering doing some sort of review with the same people that i collected results from when my product is finished or the full plan is complete.
