What have you learned from your
audience feedback?
Finnlea Murphy
I decided to allow people to answer my questionnaire but putting the
links to the clip of my products and survey monkey on Facebook When
eventually 20 people answered my surveys, I decided to take my like
down to ensure an even number of results.
Questionnaire about the documentary:
Questionnaire about the documentary:
Questionnaire about the Radio Advert:
Questionnaire about the Double Page Spread:
Question 1: What do you think this documentary tends to make you think about body
confidence?
“It's on teenagers minds more then parents
would expect...”
“It reminds people that you are not alone in
the way you feel...”
“Made me feel normal about how I feel about
my body...”
“Makes me feel that its usual to feel like you have no
body confidence...”
“Kinda makes you feel like you're
no alone...”
This is just a range of examples of the answers I got from this question. The main idea I got
back was the documentary made people feel as though body confidence is something that
everyone thinks about and experiences lack of. It made many people feel as though they were
okay with feeling there body wasn't perfect as people in the documentary openly admitted they
felt the same. As the topic of the documentary is emotional in some ways, in a way this
feedback is positive as it adds to the reasoning that we have hit a nerve by creating this
documentary and portraying what views we feel the audience would share.
Documentary
Question 2: Have enough facts and statistics been included in the documentary?
Yes= 19
No= 1
If no, why?
“I felt the facts and statistics where only applied
throughout the start of the documentary. There
was not enough variation throughout as it was
just full of people answers to interview questions”
As you can see, the majority of answers to this question was YES. With the explanation given
for the no taken into account I can see how we could easily improve this. In a way I do agree
with the reasoning, we include mainly facts at the start and then nothing again. This would
seem like a small amount of statistics looking at the bigger picture. Saying this, after thinking
about it from an audience perspective, constantly listening to facts and statistics could bore a
viewer and turn away their interest.
Question 3: How likely is it that you would recommend this documentary to a friend or
college?
We asked this question on a scale on 1-10. With this highest amount of 6 people giving an 8
out of 10. This proves positive feedback With all the answers coming back at likely and about it
proves that out documentary captured their attention and gained interest. I have learned that
our documentary is interesting and enjoyable to the audience. It proves that as a group we
created a good product that the audience would recommend.
Question 4: How could this documentary mainly be improved? …
-More expert interviews
-Less archival footage
-Images
-Bolder title screen
With 15 people agreeing that a bolder title screen would improve the documentary, it shows that
individuating the documentary and making clear what it is, is important. I agree with this idea.
With 5 people also saying images it suggests that by creating the illusion of a fun packed
documentary, very attention grabbing and visual is the way to attract the audience. It has
encouraged me to next time keep the audience in mind throughout and think of different ways to
appeal to them.
Question 5: Do you think the subject title was relevant to the target audience?
With 100%-all 20 people, agreeing that the topic of body confidence was relevant to the
audience shows how we are attracting the audiences attention fully and talking about a topic
that is relevant in social issues in society today.
Radio Advert
Question 1: By the end of the advert, did you understand what was being advertised?
YES=17 NO=3
IF NO,WHY?
“The explanation at the end was low on volume.”
“I did half understand it but wasn't 100% clear”
“Could not make the link immediately between that and the documentary”
With the majority of answers being yes, It suggests there was a clear understanding of what
the advert was advertising. Taking into account the three explanations for No's, I feel that the
first one is a fixable constructive criticised problem that I agree with and feel the same. The
second is not a clear answer why and may be the shortness of the advert as is it just under
30 seconds, and that third could be argued that at first it would be hard to make the link but
when explained at the end over the voice-over it becomes clear. Taking all these into account
they could be fixable problems but as there is such a high number of positive answers it over
rides them.
Question 2: Did the advert grab your attention?
With 16 out of 20 people answering yes, it suggests that the advert is attention grabbing and
easy to listen to. As we used answers from vox pops to create the advert, it gives the
audience a hint of what the documentary will feature, sparking interest.
Question 3: Did you like the speech from the documentary to create the advert?
100% of people answered yes showing that the use of vox pop answers to create our radio
trailer worked out effectively and positively showing that we interested the audience. I have
learned that our radio advert is very wuite to our target audience and has got a positive
response.
Question 4: Do you feel the topic of body confidence is relatable?
This question is similar to that last in our documentary questionnaire, as they both received
100% yes it shows that the topic we picked was highly relatable. I've learned that by creating a
documentary that is aimed and the age group that I am in gives me a more educated approach.
Double page spread:
Question 1: At first glance, do you know the article is about the documentary 'body confidence'?
With the majority of people answering no for this question, it shows how we did not make it
clear that the double page spread is promoting our documentary. As there is no title anywhere
saying 'Body Confidence' I feel this is a really big improvement we could make and learning
that the audience picks up on that shows it.
Question 2: Do you feel the images relate to the documentary?
By using video stills from the documentary it shows that the audience feels the images relate
to the topic and the whole documentary. By involving a picture of a celebrity I feel it peaks
interest. I have learned that by making it clear all products are linked in entices the audience.
Question 3: Would you read this article?
YES= 12
NO=8
With a close to equal view. It suggests that while people would read it, the same amount of
people would not. It has taught me that as a group we could of thought about different
techniques to draw an audience in, either making the colour scheme more attractive or
including what looks like less text with visual exampled filling the page.
Question 4: Do you feel all the products link together?
With the majority of people saying yes, it shows that across our three products we showed a
clear link and obvious topic. What let all three down was not showing the identity obviously
enough on the double page spread. “The only one that did not link was the article, if it had a
title with body confidence in it would of.” I have learned that when making products you
would like to link you need to keep a clear identity throughout all of them even if it creates
repetition.
