7. Guidelines for In-
Text Citations
Pay particular attention to
the last two entries. The
group authors are also
known as organizational
or corporate authors. If
you can’t find an
individual’s name, you
should use the group
author. This is particularly
common on websites.

Identifier
• Newer articles
have them
• Do not
capitalize doi

9. References
Article Without DOI
If there is no DOI
and the article
comes from a
library database,
you do not need
a URL or
“Retrieved from”
notation.
If there is no DOI
and the article
comes from a
website, you do
need the URL
and “Retrieved
from…”

10. References Page
• The word
References is
centered at the
top of the page
• Alphabetical
order
• Hanging
indent
• References is
plural even if
there is only
one citation

11. A Word About PowerPoint
Title pages and running heads do not work for PowerPoint.
However, the in-text citations are exactly the same, and
you will use a References slide rather than a References
page. The next slide demonstrates.
