  4. 4. Select your Quiz from the Quiz list Under “Attempts” notice that you are given only one attempt for this quiz.
  5. 5. The instructions on this quiz require you to use the Respondus LockDown Browser and it also provides a link to Respondus to download and install the Lockdown Browser. If you’ve already installed it, open the application and navigate in Falcon Online back to the quiz. If not, this presentation will give you an overview of that process. QUIZ REQUIREMENTS
  6. 6. 1. Windows download & install 1. Mac download & Install Two Sections: Click on the following text link to go to the Windows or Mac section of this presentation These two sections will show you the most common download procedures
  7. 7. Your download should begin automatically, if not, select “click this link” to start the download process. The version, (Windows) should show in the side panel so you know you have the correct download for your computer—REQUIRED Operating Systems Windows: 8, 7, Vista WINDOW’S DIRECTIONS “click this link”
  8. 8. The install link takes you to this page If you have issues installing, it may be your antivirus software.
  9. 9. RUN OR SAVE? You want to save the .exe (executable) application file to your computer
  10. 10. DOWNLOADS Respondus will automatically download to your computer’s “Downloads” folder
  11. 11. “Double-click” the downloaded .exe file to install it. When it first opens it ask you to choose your language… English. Select “Next”
  12. 12. The InstallShield Wizard will guide you through the installation.
  13. 13. With all application downloads you must first accept the terms of the License Agreement or or you cannot proceed with the installation. Companies tend to make these exceedingly long. But you are advised to always read agreements before accepting them. The default setting is “I do not agree” so that you must manually change it to continue.
  14. 14. The installing begins with a progress bar to let you see it‘s working.
  15. 15. Respondus is specifically made to work with INTERNET EXPLORER. You need to download and install it if you don’t have it already on your computer. The following link will help you configure Internet Explorer for Falcon Online. http://daytonastate.edu/falcononline/index.html
  16. 16. Respondus will create a shortcut to the application (or ask if you want one) on your desktop. Double-click the shortcut to start Respondus.
  17. 17. When you start the program it will ask you to close other programs.
  18. 18. Login to Falcon Online. Select your course, then select to open the quiz requiring Respondus. In Safari you’ll see a new set of Respondus Lockdown Browser icons along the top of the browser, along with the logo. Hover over each for a short definition.
  19. 19. MAC DIRECTIONS The version of your Mac’s operating system should show in the side panel. Required Operating Systems - Mac: OS X 10.7 or higher
  20. 20. When you select the install button, a dialog window opens. Choose to “Save File” which is automatically saved into your (User’s) Downloads folder, unless you’ve told it to download elsewhere.
  21. 21. 3. Double-click the “Install.pkg”, which opens this dialog message. 4. Select the “OK” button. 1. Double-click the ZIP file, 2. … which opens the “Install.pkg”
  22. 22. When you select to open the program, a dialog box pops up to ask if you agree with the License Agreement—and you must manually select to agree in order to install.
