1. The term communication has been derived from the Latin word ‘communis’
2. Communis means ‘common’
3. Communication as an exchange of facts, ideas, opinions or emotions to create
mutual understanding.

The project is aimed to execute economic measures which are Scientifically found out and presented to people in order to
prevent permanently and study the social, environmental and health hazards created by the African Snail (ACHATINA FULICA) due to the climatic
change during South West Monsoon (June to September) in Kilimanoor Grama Panchayath in Thiruvananthapurm District.
On the basis of the survey conducted in hundred(100) of IX, X wardsof Kilimanoor Grama Panchayat, it is understood that people in the agrarian
sector is facing acute crisis due to the African snail.
In is also noticed that many environmental changes have taken place in the two wards which underwent survey.
The African Sanils multply very quickly due to the humid atmosphere and frequent mango shower becuase of the climate change. The Snails with
their hard shell Covering and Fleshy body live from 6 to 10 years. A healthy Snail lays 600 to 1000 eggs at a time. It lays eggs three to four times in
a year. These Snails which are 16 cm long and 7cm high are called 'Giant Snail'
It has been Found that out of the 100 houses which underwent the Survey 47 residents have resorted to unscientific method to destroy these
Snails.
53 residents do not use any method to destroy these Sanails. And, there is no effective method to control their Vector at present.
Experiement with Copper Sulphate (CuSO4) they have died in 2 minutes and in Potassium Permanganate Solution (Kmno4) they died in 3 minutes,
in bodo mixture when used in the ratio 3:1 they died in 3 1/2 minutes. But, in a mixutre containing Copper Sulphate Solution (CuSo4) and tohacco
decotion in the ratio 7:3 when applied, African Sanils die. Simply in 1.1/2 minutes.
10. It has effectively been proved in the above mentioned experiemnt that Copper Sulphate Solution and tobacoo decotion is 100% effective and
economic way to destroy African Snails. We are able to find a Solution to the Problems Faced by the people residing in Kilimanoor Grama
Panchayat.
We are Sure that if the mixture with copper Suplphate Solution and tobacco decotion which we have developed on experimental basis, the
problems that Keralites face due to Aftrican Sanails in areas of Agriculture, Forest, health, tourism and envronmental Sector will be solved.
