1. PotentialTarget audience
The potential audience for my music video would be males and females aged 14-30
years old. Their occupation would be students or people in jobs that consist of
manual labour. The demographic categories my potential audience would come
under are C2, D and E (minus pensioners). My audience will come under these
demographic groups because they are in the same position as the person in the
video, working a manual job, dreaming of big things, hoping to be rich one day,
therefore, the people that would be interested in this video are people that are hard
workers and aspirational, as they would be able to relate to the lyrics about working
hard, towards your dream.
The psychographics for my potential target audience would be interested in R&B
music as this is the genre of the music for my music video. The media gratifies them
because they seek to find media that isn’t promoted to the mass audiences, looking
for music where the lyrics inspire them etc. Their interests in media and their opinions
on that media is not influenced by the mass audience, therefore are not influenced by
the opinion leaders described in the two-step flow communication theory.
Other media that they would be interested in is radio stations such as Radio 1xtra,
because they have certain shows were they play up and coming artists, such as the
artist I am using for my video.Also they would spend time surfing the internet,
watching videos online on their computer. They would also like to watch videos on
the go using their mobile phones.
The psychographics for my potential secondary audience is they would be interested
in hip/hop music because often with hip/hop music they have R&B feature artists,
therefore, although not their main music interest, they R&B music is likely to appeal
to them, especially because it is a new artist, as hip/hop fans also like discovering
new artists, that come from low backgrounds.
