Overview
My music video for ‘I Ain’t Rich Yet’ will be a cross-over of narrative and
performance. The video will be set in an urban area in a large town, Bournemouth. It
will be about a young aspirational man, stuck in a manual job, trying to achieve his
dream of being a singer.
Style
My video will be set in a large town, Bournemouth, in the areas that can give the
sense of city life.
Concept
The video will start with the artist waking up. To start you will not see the artist, it will
be from his point of view. The whole of the first verse will be set in his bedroom. The
transition from setting to setting, will be the camera will track into the hole of the
guitar, and when it tracks out, the artist will be under a bridge busking, performing the
song in the video. Some passers-by will throw money into his hat, but won’t look
overly interested.
It will then go to him leaving his house, to go to his manual job (decorator). He’s then
picked up by someone to take him to work, who will talk to him in the car, but he will
just ignore him, staring out of the window, thinking about his dream. It will then jump
to him being at work, where he will notice a guitar that has been left in the corner of
this person’s house, which will play a part in the chorus of the song. He will be in his
overalls, covered in paint, playing the guitar he has found in persons house. The
person comes back to find him playing their guitar, so they have ago at him, and he
drops his head.
For the chorus, the artist will be in his work place playing the guitar that has been left
in the house. It will then go back to him under the bridge where he is busking, for the
final verse. As he sings, more people will this time stop and take notice of him. By the
time he has got to the end of the song, there will be a group of people watching
clapping him, but then they all walk away to carry on with their day.
