2. Target
Audienc
e
My Target audience is
aimed at 16 to 21 years
of Age.
Why? Because my
research shows that
particular demographic
is most engaged by R&B
and Urban Music
3. Working to Medium Class
This is the majority, and this
particular class having grown up in a
world where urban and street
fashion is ‘cool’, their choice in music
reflects this.
4. GENDER
Although music magazines are read mainly
by males, this is my main audience, but
having said that I also created content and
design to also cater for broader audience, so
it appeals to females too.
5. ETHNICTY
R&B and Hip Hop music is
mainly listened to by white
people, but from the ethnic
minorities, a higher
percentage listen to it. My
target audience is for all, and
content is aimed for broad
appeal.
6. AUDIENCE PROFILE
So what's the psychographic profile of my audience?
They are people who:
• Love fashion, particularly street fashion
• In to sports & activities
• Go to concerts and gigs
• Use social media regularly
• Download music (itunes) Stream (Sound cloud/Spotify)
• Look up to music artists & celebrities
• Students: College/Higher education
• Aspirations of success
• Are quite social and expressive
• Art & Style conscience
7. Task 5: How did you attract/
address your audience?
8. FRONT
COVER
The cover features photo of
an emerging new artist. This
goes well with what my
audience wants in terms of
news, style fashion and target
age. It also grabs their
attention with big ‘A-list’
artists. Big bold cover lines to
attract the interests of my
target market. The bottom
footnote headlines
mainstream artists to further
interest what the magzine’s
about
9. CONTENTS
The contents and spreads use
a lot of white to conform to
good design. This makes the
content and colours stand out.
The pastels in the content is to
appeal to females. Featured
articles are with images. The
girl holding the mic is
deliberately against white make
her stand out and draw
attention to the new artist.
Other images are to attract the
art & style conscience reader,
followed by, Headphone image
for the tech readers. The chart
is deliberately on the contents
page for quick access and
reference. Other parts of the
content use bold and regular
text to draw the reader in.
10. DOUBLE SPREAD
The main image is on the right to draw attention to the readers as they are
flicking through the magazine. The heading of the artists name and what
he has achieved was in big bold capital letters to grab the audiences
attention as this is what they’ll see after the main image. I used red text as
the main body to make it look appeal and interesting. The two colours
break it up and it makes the audience dive deeper. While still keeping to
the interview look. I also used a pull quote and placed it on the image to
get the readers attention, I deliberately used the quote where he will get
more female sympathy to attract the females.
