Focus group interview media
1. Focus Group interview:
To gather more detailed information I interviewed a group of 4 people 2male 2 female
within the 16-19 aged group, which is the target audience recommended for my music
magazine.
I asked the group what sort of articles you would be interested in reading on artist within
the RnB genre?
The audience suggested that they are very much interested in the latest gossip on a
certain celebrity artist for example information about their love life with other celebs.
They also like to read about their new albums, collaborations and what inspires them.
And many other information such as their interest things they do in their spare to and
personal things so their fans can feel like they can connect with their idols.
When asked the audience what sort of colours do you associate with RnB music?
They responded and said that purples and blues, light blues and black really emphasise
the genre with the modern style music, they also indicated that they wouldn’t like to see
to much colour within the magazine because it can look very childish and immature. I
agree with this statement as I am also into RnB and wouldn’t expect to see childish
bright colours on a teenage magazine because it doesn’t look very grown-up and
wouldn’t gain my attention.
Another question I asked the audience what draws your attention to a music magazine?
They answered and said they listen to RnB music very regularly on their iPods, phones,
radios and even computers so they would like to hear about new music regularly, new
artist and also how they can get involved in the music industry. They also mentioned that
their interested in the fashion aspects as well, they like to see what sort of clothes the
music artist wear.
The final question I asked my audience was what sort of images help relate to the RnB
genre?
The audience clearly recommend that images of an artist or standing next to cars help
associate with RnB, because of this whole stereo typical perception of being rich having
lots of money, cars and jewellery ect.
