Lesson Plan 4
Time: 45 minutes
Topic: Cities
Objectives:
- To work in teams to recall previous knowledge about places in a city.
- To make sentences using there is - there isn’t - there are - there aren’t.
- To assess their classmates on their grammar.
- To recognise the correct use of this existential verb.
Materials needed for the lesson
- Student’s book Hop into English 5.
- Visual support and materials designed by the teacher-students.
Routine
2. Timing: 5 minutes.
Type of interaction: all the class, teacher-students.
Makro skills: listening and speaking.
We will follow the routine ‘’How do you feel today?’’ and continue with a breathing
exercise before starting the lesson to help students prepare to get to work after their
recess.
Warm-up
Timing: 5 minutes.

We will divide students into two teams, 1 and 2.
0. You have 20 seconds to make a list of places they can find in the city.
We will check orally, altogether. The team that has written more words wins.
First activity
Timing: 10 minutes.

1. The team that loses will ask question with is there - are there about the picture
used in the previous class.
2. The other team will answer with yes, there is - no, there isn’t.
Second activity
Timing: 15 minutes.
Type of interaction: all the class - individually.

Salta is the Capital city of the province of Salta. This city is
very large. People live in big houses with beautiful little
gardens and old buildings. There are enormoushills around
3. the city, and in one of them, there is a cable railway.
In Balcarce street there are many restaurants to enjoy a
music show. There aren’t any circuses or waterparks in this
city, but in each corner, there is a coffee house and craft
stores. There are also three History museums and cinemas.
It is a very clean city because there aren’t any papers on the
sidewalks.
