Lesson Plan 2
Time: 45 minutes
Topic: In the city
Objectives:
- To analyse the places in students’ own city.
- To recognise the names of the places in the city of Santa Rosa.
- To identify what you can do in each of these places using the right
preposition.
- To make sentences again using the verb “can”.
- To comprehend a short text and spot its key points.
Materials needed for the lesson
- Student’s book Hop into English 5.
- Extra materials designed by the teacher-students.
Routine
Timing: 5 minutes.
Type of interaction: all the class, teacher-students.
Makro skills: listening and speaking.
We will follow the routine ‘’How do you feel today?’’ and continue with a
breathing exercise before starting the lesson to help students prepare to get to work
after their recess.
Warm-up
Timing: 5 minutes.

Makro skills: reading and speaking.
0. Take a look at the first page of Unit 4. Pay attention to the title.
Someone will be asked to read the title.
- What is the girl in the corner asking? (“Do you live in a city or a town?”).
- Do you like living in Santa Rosa? Why?
- Do you like big cities or small towns? Why?
- Do you think Santa Rosa is big or small?
First activity
Timing: 5 minutes.
Type of interaction: all the class, teacher-students.

1. Check activity number 1 in the pupil’s book and answer the question: “What do
you like about your city or town?”. Why?
We will go through the new vocabulary altogether to help them recognise the places
displayed and tell whether they are present in Santa Rosa. For example:
- Is there a theatre in Santa Rosa?
- Is there a stadium in our city?
Second activity
Timing: 5 minutes.
Type of interaction: individually.
Makro skills: reading and speaking.
2. Read these sentences and write TRUE or FALSE. Correct the false ones.
1. At the theatre, you can watch movies and eat popcorn. _____
2. You can find ships in an airport. _____
3. You can train and do gymnastics in a sports centre. _____
4. You can ride your bike and walk your dog in a park. _____

4. Read these sentences. What word do they have in common?
1. In the morning, I go to the sports centre.
2. In June, I can’t go to the park.
3. School was boring in 2020.
4. We live in La Pampa, in Argentina.
We use IN when talking about: parts of the days, months, years, cities and countries,

cities, countries (will not be introduced in this lesson yet).
We will find examples with the preposition IN, making sentences altogether and writing
them down.
Fourth activity
Timing: 5 minutes.

3. Choose a place in your city without mentioning its name. Tell your classmates what
you can do and see there to help them guess.
For example:
- You can order food here. - expected answer: “in a restaurant”.
- In this place, you can take a walk and drink mate. - expected answer: Don
Tomás Lagoon.

4. Listen to the following text about the city of Santa Rosa. Mark T (TRUE) or F
(FALSE).
My city, Santa Rosa, is very big, but not gigantic. Here, there is a
nice Lagoon called “Laguna Don Tomás”. In the Lagoon, there are
many green spaces to sit and drink mate with friends.
In the city centre, there are really tall buildings with many
apartments. Between these buildings, there are very cute
restaurants to eat pizza and hamburgers. There are one cinema,
a theatre, many clothes shops, shoe shops and bookshops. There
is also a University in front of the main square!
In Santa Rosa there are…

Session October, 19th Places in the city Lesson Plan 2 Time: 45 minutes Topic: In the city Objectives: - To analyse the places in students’ own city. - To recognise the names of the places in the city of Santa Rosa. - To identify what you can do in each of these places using the right preposition. - To make sentences again using the verb “can”. - To comprehend a short text and spot its key points. Materials needed for the lesson - Student’s book Hop into English 5. - Extra materials designed by the teacher-students.
  • 2. Routine Timing: 5 minutes. Type of interaction: all the class, teacher-students. Makro skills: listening and speaking. We will follow the routine ‘’How do you feel today?’’ and continue with a breathing exercise before starting the lesson to help students prepare to get to work after their recess. Warm-up Timing: 5 minutes. Type of interaction: all the class, teacher-students. Makro skills: reading and speaking. 0. Take a look at the first page of Unit 4. Pay attention to the title. Someone will be asked to read the title. - What is the girl in the corner asking? (“Do you live in a city or a town?”). - Do you like living in Santa Rosa? Why? - Do you like big cities or small towns? Why? - Do you think Santa Rosa is big or small? First activity Timing: 5 minutes. Type of interaction: all the class, teacher-students.   • 3. 1. Check activity number 1 in the pupil’s book and answer the question: “What do you like about your city or town?”. Why? We will go through the new vocabulary altogether to help them recognise the places displayed and tell whether they are present in Santa Rosa. For example: - Is there a theatre in Santa Rosa? - Is there a stadium in our city? Second activity Timing: 5 minutes. Type of interaction: individually. Makro skills: reading and speaking. 2. Read these sentences and write TRUE or FALSE. Correct the false ones. 1. At the theatre, you can watch movies and eat popcorn. _____ 2. You can find ships in an airport. _____ 3. You can train and do gymnastics in a sports centre. _____ 4. You can ride your bike and walk your dog in a park. _____

In the morning, I go to the sports centre. 2. In June, I can’t go to the park. 3. School was boring in 2020. 4. We live in La Pampa, in Argentina. We use IN when talking about: parts of the days, months, years, cities and countries, PREPOSITIONS IN ON AT parts of days days and holidays time, our months specific places years address cities, countries (will not be introduced in this lesson yet). We will find examples with the preposition IN, making sentences altogether and writing them down. Fourth activity Timing: 5 minutes. Type of interaction: between students.

My city, Santa Rosa, is very big, but not gigantic. Here, there is a nice Lagoon called “Laguna Don Tomás”. In the Lagoon, there are many green spaces to sit and drink mate with friends. In the city centre, there are really tall buildings with many apartments. Between these buildings, there are very cute restaurants to eat pizza and hamburgers. There are one cinema, a theatre, many clothes shops, shoe shops and bookshops. There is also a University in front of the main square! In Santa Rosa there are… a. many tall buildings. _____
