1. Rigging and Focusing Lighting evaluation
What we were asked to do?
- We were asked to create a suitable lighting plan for the AS Drama
examinations.
Strengths?
- I found that the lights were rigged within the allotted time frame
quite well and worked in accordance with the lighting design plan.
- Everybody was able to spend an equal amount of time on the
tallescope focusing a specific section of lights for a particular drama
piece.
Weaknesses?
- The lighting design itself had problems as we found some important
areas of the stage had no lights to illuminate them.
- We also found that it was difficult to focus the lights as the edges
of the space either were not lit or light spilled over.
What we would do differently next time?
- Next time I would make better focus notes as we found actors were
partially lit, for example; when one actor tried to read his monologue
he raised his and it wasn't lit.
- Another thing we would do is allow room for more lights as the
edges of the stage weren't lit, an example of this is furniture on a
particular piece was in darkness whereas others around it were well
lit.
