2. In my preliminary piece we experimented with different shots and techniques and I think this
gave us more of a feeling for shooting. This also shown us what works well and what don’t like
for example when we did over the shoulder shots we were in a small cramped room so it was
difficult to get a over shoulder shot. This was a problem which we overcame but it taught us
to do shots which are actually adaptable to the space we have. We also learned about
continuity this is when one shot is in the dark and the other is in the light. I think this made our
preliminary look rubbish as it broke the rule and this made the piece look out of context and
was a big floor in it. I think it also made us understand how crucial music was in our piece as
this said who we targeted and what the characters actually felt.
As in our preliminary the music overcrowded the actual piece this made it very difficult for
the audience to understand anything that is actually going on which I think made our piece
weaker especially for this section of work.
I think the research into titles was not shown either as they just appeared unlike most rom-
coms where they appear around the scenery around them. This breaks convention and
makes our piece stand out for probably the wrong reasons. I had to remember to stick to
conventions as if I did not then our piece would not look right instead it would look really
weird and un-natural.
