2. NARRATIVE
• Our narrative is non linear as the part of the film we have shot takes place before the
main plot, our film would then flash back to the events that happened before the
opening scene.
• Our film looks like the chosen genre, which is horror, as it is quite jumpy in places and
things happen without any explanation for example in the gym scene the ball is thrown
with no face so it appears to be moving by its own control.
• We used fast paced editing especially in the gym scene which is specific to our chosen
genre as it creates tension and puts the audience on edge which works effectively in
this scene as we have the unknown presence that is moving the ball. Also it works
effectively when the old caretaker disappears as he is there one moment and the next
he has disappeared with no explanation. The fast editing also makes the audience
anticipate something which leads up to the twist we have towards the end of our clip.
3. SCREENSHOTS
• In this screenshot we see the ball that has been thrown across the gym and is
moving supposedly on its own.
4. CONTINUED
• The sound we used in our clip heavily features violins which is typical for our
genre as it is known to be spine tingling and chilling. We have used eerie, loud
sharp sound effects when things happen or appear such as when the caretaker
appears in the window above the gym.
• We chose a school setting to contrast our genre as it is not a typical setting, also
our film appears bright in terms of lighting and colouring which contrasts the cold
colours and the blacks usually seen in films of this genre.
